I was pulling out from the dirt onto the road and quickly stopped and took off again.. There was a car coming so I couldn't sit there for long.. The fuel cut is at 5850.. I think I was bringing it up to about 5700 there..
@TdiJetta99 oh i see, very impressive - one of my mates is upgrading his tdi golf at the moment hybrid turbo pp764 nozzles 11mm pump etc, can you map the fuel cut in? his tails off at about 4800 at the moment, did the head porting make much of a difference? many thanks
@TdiJetta99 a local shop down in fl tuned it for me, It's fast but it spins through 1st and 2nd, It has gears from a 2.0l mk3 jetta, so it's pretty fun. I've had it up to around 130mph. At the track on slicks it ran high 11's
My mk4 TDI w/ a good chunk of mods (stock turbo) will spin 1st and 2nd.. and if there is any wetness on the pavement it will spin in 5th hard... my car will also hit 130 pretty easily.
Your car with more hp and 100lbs of torque or more should do far more than mine?
i have a 1.8t and it always drives weird if i get the rpms up high like its harder to get it in gear yet it feels faster. also my engine light always comes on and i feel like my turbo slips out sometimes. not sure what to do about it
well, if it's stock it won't really pull into the red anyhow, so you don't have much to worry about.. In stock form it's best to shift a little over 4000 since that's about where they start to fall flat.. Just make sure it's up to temperature before stomping on it..
So what do you have to support such hi revs? Or is reving that high perfectly acceptable on a modded app?

@Dinocfs
The fuel cut is done by the tuner.. I use Jeff at Rocketchip.. The head porting made a noticeable difference at higher rpm..

Wow that's pretty quick for a mk4 tdi. I have a rabbit with a 1.9TDI in it, bigger turbo, all supporting mods, around 200hp and 400wtq

That rabbit must fly.. I was considering that same swap if I ever total the MK4.. Mine dynoed 200whp and 340tq... Who do you use for tuning?

@85305 I have a different tranny than you do. Mine has a lower FD.. and longer gears.

@JobeMinacum Ya i realized not long after I posted that response that you were only in 3rd gear going that fast. My bad. That things hauling ass lol.

What kind of mod do you have? First time I ever see a TDI reving higher than 5000 rpm.

Just got my 2000 Jetta GL TDI. Is there no redline to worry about on these cars or is it just because of your mods?
