I can honestly say this is a great walkthrough. I am climbing high in the game because of it. One question though, how can I get the early power bombs via norfair?

@randomturtle1000 Use wall jumping to get the Wave Beam early, use that to get to Crocomire by going left and down from the big green bubble room and opening the blue gate from the right side, and get the PB expansion off the room to the left of Crocomire's. That way is easier than getting them early in the red shaft, but I think it requires more backtracking for a 100% run.

So here's the thing. I climbed myself down Norfair to Ridley. The problem is that I only have 7 energy tanks and one reserve tank. And I find that just below what I would need to defeat Ridley. BUT, I can't get back to find more energy tanks since to get where I am now I had to escape a room that was beeing flooded by lava. And it's still flooded with lava. Should I just try defeating Ridley? I am extremely close every time but just not close enough. Any other pro tip?

I have a question, I went to norfair and didnt grab the varia suit. When I try going back to brinstar to get the varia suit, I can't, since their is a huge fall and I am unable to climb it. I tried wall jumping but it is useless, since there is an opening at the top that I am unable to reach (I already have the high jumping boots). What can I do?

Wow I'm even more impressed with your time. You beat spore spawn at the beginning of the game instead of waiting to the end. (or by-passing all together).

I'm also gonna note the value of being able to get to Kraid by wall jumping, since detouring for the Hi-jump boots (which is how it's "supposed" to be done) adds a few minutes to time. Difficult to get the timing down however, at least on the SNES. I obviously need to work on that speed kill too.

mockball is hard to do but is not THAT hard... there is a video wich explains very well how to do it. Just search "super metroid mockball".

I learned in like 30 minutes.

Sure, you wont do it 100% times like Desbreko, but after 3-4 tries you can get it.

That in case you want those missiles.

There are people who would consider that "cheating" if its the first time you play.

I just did it for the challenge of learning to mockball.

I'm playing this game as a ROM on my computer and I'm running into a different problem getting up the shaft at 3:00 . In this video Desbreko kills the little flying back and forth creatures with one super missile, but for me I have to use up 2. There are actually quite a few creatures that take more hits for me to kill than this video series shows being necessary to kill them. Is my ROM version screwed up or is there some way to make all attacks more powerful that I don't know?

Seriously, how do you do the part at 3:02. I can get up the shaft with the Wall Jump, but getting past those assholes that eat you is Goddamn impossible. What do you do to beat this game without "cheating"?

@CriticsConfession Try to keep moving so you don't get overwhelmed by the flying enemies, but don't rush. Going too fast through that room is the #1 cause of falling into the plants for me. Basically, don't touch the dash button at all in there and make sure before you jump that you're not going to hit an enemy.

You want to make short little hops across the platforms, so don't hold in the jump button very long. And if you're going through there after getting the Hi-Jump, disable it first.

@nschuel That's the auto-refill icon for reserve tanks. If you've got any energy in your reserve tanks, in which case the icon will be lit up like that, it'll drain into your energy tanks when you reach 0 energy to keep you from dying.

To wall jump, spin jump at a wall, push the opposite direction off it, then push jump immediately after. When you push off the wall, you'll see Samus's sprite change out of the spin jump animation for a bit, which is when you want to jump.

@refuser3000 Double tap down as soon as you push jump so that all three button pushes happen in quick succession. As long as you keep holding in the jump button, you'll still get the full height of the jump even if you morph right away.

@wwlinkisbest Dash, jump and hold the button, push down once while in the air, then down+forward just before landing. DO NOT let up the jump button any time after pushing down until you've landed and entered ball form or you'll lose your dashing speed. (Releasing it while still spinning in the air and then pushing it back in before you push down is fine, however.) You can release the dash button any time after gaining enough speed.
