singapore may be progressive in many ways but undoubtly very poor in civility. unfortunate that this aspect of being a singaporean will not change as the mindset needs to change first. singaporeans are basically not community sensitive, they are basically self centred - what's in it for me, me & me. long way to go to become a civil society !
yup, a hard disk reformat might be the solution but i do not recommend it as a society must decide for itself and must want to change for it's own sake ! so, it must evolve by natural order that is by the hearts & mind of the majority of the nation

Funny thing is many stall holders serve those who 'tah pow' (or package) first even if you had ordered before them. I am no typical scared-scared Singapore Resident (mindful that there are 1 in 4 persons here who ain't a singaporean and this term is more appropriate, thus the next 'ugly' behaviour person u c might not be a singaporean) and always reprimand these stall holders to serve customers on queue basis. Most recent one was the Malay eatery at IMM, 1st storey.

kiasuism is a byproduct of poverty. where survival depends on being opportunistic and selfish. with affluence and education.... civic mindedness will come. when there is abundance, people will start to care and share. you gotta keep in mind that many still are born in those tough times.. it'll get better. but we'll have to wait .... for now we can do our part. not gonna be easy but its doable.
