  • It would be nice to be able to have these discussion without turning them into a didactic, multi-choice vote. Both versions are wonderful, although I will admit that for some reason I find Whitney's more memorable. I agree that Mills voice had the rich tone, colour and necessary maturity but disagree that Whitney's youth hinders her interpretation. It has all of the necessary confusion and pathos needed. It *sounds* like someone going through those emotions for the first time. I appreciate both

  • @Takver Thanks for tuning in and sharing your thoughts

  • Simply beautiful. Can't people enjoy a song without always comparing. Whitney had plenty of soul here.

  • Love and have enjoyed BOTH voices, but Stephanie's approach and warmth shines through...Steph has been singing since a child and she gets better with every passing year!!!!

  • R.I.P Ms. Houston!

  • After hearing the death of Whitney, I just prefer to appreciate both for who they are. You never know how much a person really influences you until they're gone. That hit me hard!

  • Stephanie Mills voice is just too colorful for Whitney. I didn't feel that this was a good song for Whitney, because she sounded flat in comparison. It's hard to come immediately behind Stephanie and achieve maximum praise. But, Whitney did sound good.

  • whitney version is AMAZING ;D

  • What people are forgetting in their comparisons, is that before she sang her version, Stephanie Mills, simply had more time to develop her vocal presentation. Whitney Houston, by this time was (believe it or not) still "developing" her signature approach to delivering a song. Whitney, was still in discovery mode, while Stephanie, was already into master performer mode.

That said, you could still her what was to come in later years from Whitney, taking nothing away from Stephanie's brilliance.

  • @TigerGrumman Great comments!

  • This song sounds like a song called Night Games that Stephanie did in 1981

  • I thought stephanie Mills had more feeling just too much of a high pitch and i felt whitney was great but she gave no feeling...but I could tell this was young whitney

  • @deadea74 Thanks. Yes, this was a young Whitney, but not THAT young. She recorded this song only a year before the sessions for her self titled album began.

  • Stephanie for the win!!! And I'm a Whitney fan. I never understood how singers always said that Whit sings flat until I heard this comparison. But it's there. She's got lungs but no soul, very poppish. Oh, and MJ was paired with every up & coming it girl Whitney, Tatum O'Neal, Madonna, Lisa Marie however, I was never convinced that it wasn't for the camera sake & image control.

  • Both versions are great but, I have to go with Stephanie Mills.

  • @jaidenjovan28 Thanks, both versions are indeed nice

  • i would have never thought there was a whitney song i didn't know until now.

  • @Javar175 Oh yes, Whitney made a handful of recordings before her first album in 1985.

  • i can't choose, i love them both.

  • strong song

  • strong voice, strong singers.

  • @a1d2h Thanks. Great comments

  • my vote goes to incomparable Whitney!!!i so loveeeeeeeee her!!

  • I can't believe people are on this site disrespecting Whitney Houston...who is a great singer. Why do people like to compare singers? There are two categories...those that can sing and those that can't sing. We are talking about music not their personal issues. People you can love and respect more than one singer damn...both versions are good...If you have nothing nice to say don't say anything...

  • @nia39 Thanks for those comments.

  • Magnificant!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @jigglegirl601 Thanks for stopping by. Glad you enjoyed the music

  • Simply Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @jigglegirl601 Glad you enjoyed this video & music

  • @seand67 Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Stephanie's was a sleeper tune. Whitney's had an upbeat energy. On voice, Stephanie's was soft, whisper-like/nasal and touches of soul. On Whitney, there was sheer power, and extended notes that brought the word "love" to life. If i set aside my biased love for Whitney and judged them both as a whole, I'd have to say that I'd forget Stephanie's version and love Whitney's. Even after hearing Stephanie, Whitney's eclipsed it so much I already forgot most of Stephanie's performance. Whitney wins.

  • Stephanie sounds like he seasoned professional here. Whitney was still learning how to perform. Good job on both performances though they were not equal in vocal ablitlies.

  • I am sorry that it got sent to you

I had my rant because I love her I have all here albums even the very r & b one were she has a tan leather on and an very bad fro and here mothere cissy had some big disco hits Think it over Warning danger

I don't calling ranting It is called snyeid bitching

    thankyou and goodbye

  • well that drug addelld whitney can not hold a candle to stephanie miles

the woman is a fool she went after a bit of black cock and got sucked into a world of drugs that she will never pull back from , she will have to make do with the booby prize. sorry to say these thing as i do have alll whitneys albums but she,s lost it,

Please all here faggy fans do crucify me for my opinion

    steve of manchester

  • @stevechandler1 Thanks for watching, but you shouldn't be so judgemental of Whitney, who had issues with drugs BEFORE marrying Bobby Brown. Heck, most of Whitney's Family messed with drugs (Brother Gary, Cousin Dionne, etc.) and had access to everything with her Mother being well known in the music industry and her Father being a very powerful figure in New Jersey. Think before posting a rant!

  • Respect to both of them, so great both ladies but for me Whitney wins, and with 16 years old?? Come on. Whitney became what she is and the other didn´t not just cause of the looks. The voice of Houston appeals to everybody

  • super!!!

  • Stephanie Mills is very underrated. But I think the reason she wasn't pushed by her record company is because of her looks, I think she is very beautiful but Whitney was tall and slender like a model and Steph is very petite and shapely. So while she was embraced in the AA community, they didn't think she could cross over as easily as Whitney.

  • stephanie mills hands down. whutney although she singing her butt off, sounds young. Stephanie's rendition is soulful and sounds like a woman who knows what she is talking bout...

  • Both have wonderful presentation. But, I have to go with Stephanie on this one. She just amazing.

  • I like Whitney's version much better and I think she sings better but that's just my opinion...oh! and the other version was also good....

  • A 16 year old Whitney vs. a grown Ms. Mills. The album Whitney's version was featured on was released in '83, but it was recorded when she was 16. The age difference is about 10yrs between the voices. Stephanie shines in this style of music, but it is totally different from the pure/innocent approach that young Whit took...two great versions. What 16 year old can do this now?

  • Stephanie Mills hands down, I really like Whitney but her voice was not nearly what we've enjoyed listeing to in years past.

  • @musiclover77able , Etc.. so people need to stop with that mess she isn't the only one!! she has done it all she even said with oprah that she had so she didn't protect her gift as she should have.

And i do go by talent whitney sounds better than them both.

  • @musiclover77able , Because it shows star power and actual influence Whitney houston is the "VOICE" that was her label for a reason!!! as much as i love both step and pattie they have nothing on whitney!! pattie often screams out her nots ans step sounds like a chip monk at times plus whitney is the only one out of any of them that hadn't gotten a nose job!!

It wasn't just drugs that hurt her viocal it was also vocal noduels she had done drugs for more than 10 years before you and i even knew .

  • @Antwansuperstar21 Whitney WAS 'The Voice'....That is all. Thank you

  • @seand67 , Well Thats your opinion thats all lol.. so thank you.

  • @Antwansuperstar21 they are all different calbers of singers but it obvious that Stephanie Mills had an influence on Whitney...and Whitney' version cant match Stephanie's but I love them both! I pray Whitney can get vocal therapy and return!

  • @musiclover77able , Who cares lol...? she can still sing just not like she use to god can heal anything!!! and it doesn't hurt that she has out sold both stepanie and patti put together with record sales and she is the one that broke the color code along with micheal jackson on MTV etc.. whitney is a icon and her new album has already sold over 3x million copies without even being out a year yet that awesome its already 3x plat within one year.

  • I like Stephanie Mills but Whitney had a purity in her voice that is quite beautiful.

  • Both singers are my favorites but Whitney brings a more classic style to this torch song that melodically is not very soulful. This is a Pop song (very Barbra streisand) who would have done the best job of all. I don't actually like this song, but good effort on both parts.

  • @musiclover77able Thanks. For my next video, I'll feature both Whitney & Stephanie as they sound TODAY. Hmm...

  • men...is not comparison...WHITNEY VOICE IS MOST POWERFULL AND .ANGELIC+++...SHE DID IN THIS, PERFECTION++++IS NOT BORN YET ANOTHER HUMAN PERSON HU TAKE THE PLACE TO WHITNEY....SHE REMAINS INSUPERABLE, INCOMPARABLE+++++I WHISH HER A LONG AND HAPPY LIFE++++++AND MORE RESPECT FOR HER FROM ALL OF US++++++

  • @bambola269 Thanks, but we all love Whitney and the great instrument that she ONCE HAD. That's right, when talking about Whitney's powerful & angelic voice, you should use the past tense for obvious reasons. No hate....Whitney is to blame for this.

  • @seand67 hallo...yes, the fact is certain.

  • some of u people are just dumb. Whitney was only 16 on this recording. What do a 16 year old know about an eternal love???? listen to the tone and emotion in the voices.

  • OH NO - its Stephanie hands down.....Whitney's still one of my top favs, but Stephanie put a lot more energy in this one...

  • whitney's version was actually in 78 or something. she was only 16 years old.

  • @tash777 I don't know where you got your info from, but Whitney's version is from the 1983 album 'Paul Jabara & Friends'.

  • @seand67 It was featured on an album in 1983, but she recorded it when she was 16.

  • I've always liked both versions. I remember thinking at the time that Stephanie's version was more distinct while Houston's was more plaintive. I was in love with Whitney back then....my how things have changed.

I have a couple of interesting Whitney and Stephanie stories that I'll share with you privately.

  • @TruthSerum101 Thanks for stopping by. Whitney also did 'HOme' on the Merv Griffin show. Seems like Whitney looked up to Stephanie to an extent.

  • How could you compare The Voice to someone else!=)))It just funny!

  • @snezhanawhitney Think about THIS. Stephanie can STILL sing all of her old songs TODAY. Can Whitney sing any of her old songs now ?? Hmmmm...

  • Even if Whitney will never sing again she will always be the Greatest Voice of all=))I cant understand you,seand67!Dont you hear the difference of Whitneys voice and

Stephanies voice!Just confess you dont like Houston or you didnt hear the Whitneys live version of this song?=)

  • @snezhanawhitney Thanks

  • They are both wonderful.

  • @sexyidol22 Thank you

  • Stephanie version mos def

  • Stephanie version is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than Whitney.. they both are divas w/ totally different sounds... I love them both...

  • Oh please Whitney rendition puts Stephanie to shame. Listen London 1986 live rendition, and tell me otherwise. Stephanie wish she could hit those notes like Whitney. I love ms Mills too!

  • @kmaur21 thats your opinon.. and in my opinion.. i think Stephanie is better.

  • @kmaur21 I bet Whitney wishes she could hit ANY note now, unlike Stephanie, who can still sing

  • @Rico9XXX Great comments

  • I feel that Stephanie Mills did an awesome job with this song "VERY SEXY CLASSIC SOULFUL R&B SOUND" and Whitney Houston as well did an amazing job singing this song "VERY SEXY CLASSIC SOULFUL POP SOUND". I love them both! To me It's about singing with SOUL from the heart and both performers have capture that beauty with their God giving voices. Just different styles but equally powerful. ETERNAL LOVE! Peace!

  • @ridewith9 Great comments...THANKS

  • GREAT DIVAS

  • I hate Stephanie's voice! It's sheepish! Whitney's voice is superior to Stephanie's!!!!!! It is what it is honey!!!! Sing gurl!

  • Stephanie ..."Sheepish" ? Lord have mercy. Folks please learn to step outside the box. There's more to the musical landscape than Whitney.

  • By sheepish, I think he means her vibrato is fast. I think.

  • @TruthSerum101 Whatever the case, Whitney WISHES she had ANY vibrato these days. Whitney was a great talent, and is herself to blame for what's happened to her once mighty voice. Sheep & all, Stephanie CAN STILL SANG. Bruh, these damn STANS are killing me.

  • @seand67

Yeah, half the time, Houston can't even talk.

  • @TruthSerum101 Very sad. I saw footage from Whitney's disaster in Australia. Hope her Boss @ Arista didn't see her crash & burn on stage. Might be the end of her rope on that label.

  • AND THE WINNER IS.....Ms Stephanie Mills I love it i believe her. whitney's seem more for show

  • Stephanie's voice is too nasal for me... Whitney all the way

  • Her voice is very nasal. I never could get into Ms Mills from her tone. It is a very nasal tone, Whitney's full diapharm.

  • @Kmaur21

Because someone's tone is "nasal" or obviously placed in the mask does not mean she is not using her diaphragm. You're on a lot of videos talking a lot about vocal technique which is clearly not your expertise.

  • @kmaur21 What is Whitney's 'tone' like these days ??? Hmmm.....

  • The Stephanie version, I like it better. Stephanies voice sounds much richer!!

  • APPLES AND ORANGES. LIKE BOTH.

  • please put the whitney verison only

    love them both

  • WHAT ? Thanks for watching, but this isn't a request show...LMAO

  • I think both ladies did a fantastic job- But the winner to me is Stephanie; both of these ladies are role models to me but step had that little extra something in her voice at the time. And both ladies are performers Stephanie started in theater whitney had to build performing art from her mother and cousin.

  • Stephanie is a singer and Whitney is a performer. There is a HUGE difference. Stephanie's problem has been her managers and producers otherwise she would be HUGE.

  • Thanks for stopping by and posting your comments!

  • @Kengikat

    I AGREE TOTALLY!!!!!

Excellent comment and it's true. Bravo! Bravo!

  • @Kengikat , well put.... But I have to disagree... Ms Houston is a SAAAAANER. Stephanie was originally a Broadway star. Both amazing voices.

  • In my opinion Whitney is the greatest female voice ever but I would have 2 say Stephanie got her on dis one. Whitney hadnt yet gotten in touch with the true magic she possessed. Just being so young. stephanie is singing from a place where u feel like these lyrics mean something to her.

  • whitney has better tonal quality than anyone. period. she's got a rich, full sound that NO ONE can compete with. love stephanie, though.

  • Stephanie's version has emotion.

  • Both ladies did a great job. Two of the baddest women to have done it. Stephanie is a pit bull on the mic, but totally two different singers.

  • Interesting comparison

However because Whitney was never consistent live Stephanie Mills

    hands down

Stephanie Mills has more range and better tonal Quality than Whitney Unfortunately Stephanie never had the commercial songs-Otherwise she wouldve been one of the best she had bad management and promotion and bad producers and record llabels

    thats what held her back

    Peace!!

  • I've always loved Whitney on this tune. She sounds amazing. I miss this Whitney.

  • Just listening to this video and song and I have to say that I really enjoyed the version by Stephanie Mills. There was more feeling and actually a little more soul. Whitney's version is nice but if I had to go out and purchase one over the other it would definitely be Stephanie. Her song has a little more feeling.

  • A lot of people mistake someone with a good tone, power, and range for singing with feeling. Two different things which is why I believe some may love Whitney's over Stephanie's. This is not to say that Whitney doesn't sing with feeling, I just think she hadn't had real life experiences yet on this song to pull from. That didn't come along for Whitney until a few years later. Both are wonderful singers but it goes back to preference at this level of singing.

  • As I've stated many times on youtube comments with comparisons, it's like apples and oranges. Correct me if I'm wrong but if this was released in 83, wasn't Whitney around twenty since she was born in 1963? Just wondering. Stephanie had been out there by this time and is at least 6-7 years older so you're comparing a woman to someone just becoming an adult. You can hear the experience in Stephanie's reading. I'm not talking about tone, I'm talking about interpretation.

  • You are talkin right prof32! Peace!

  • STEPHANIE HANDS DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Then again i'm a tad biased lol

  • Whitney made the song surreal....Stephanie was just singing.

  • Stephanie Mills takes this One

  • wow! i love both Whiteny and Stephanie... grew up listening to both..but even though I am a die-hard fan of Whitney, I have to pick Sephanie mills' version.. Whitney was not exuding the true vocal potential we know she is capable of...

  • Whitney, but then im biased, never heard of Stephenie Mills.

  • whitney..

even at 16 vocal beast. but i do love ms mills.. secret lady. great song by her!

  • both ladies are great they both adds something different to the song when whitney started out people said she sounded too white so to give herself that extra soul she startred to smoke ciggaretts i think not really sure anyway why are people always trying to compare whitney with everybody why can it just be whitney and the other artist in there own right stop all this foolishness there both tiny women who sing like there 500lbs and that is the only comparison!!!!!!!

  • It's amazing that any 16 year old could sing like that! Whitney is truly a gift!

  • i think that both women did the song good. Unfortunitely, Stephanie Mills is one of those underrated singers, whom people wont appreciate until she is gone, like Phyllis Hymen...then they'll listen back and be like, "that was her?..wow!!!"

  • I soooo agree, well stated!!!!!!!!!

  • whitneyy cant be compared peopleee she wasss the bessst in her prime and THATSSSS IT!

  • Stephanie Stephanie STEPHANIE!!!!! Anyone who know me, knows that I am a lover of pure R&B SOUL MUSIC from the gut! Stephanie sounds like she is singing frome her heart and SOUL and that is why I like it better. Plus I just LOVE ME some Stephanie Mills anyway. Don't get me wrong though Whitney does her thing on this song; it sounds like it could be the soundtrack to a movie......its good, just not raw, heartfelt, make ya wanna cry soul.

  • Both have voices that most other singers can't compare to...they both did wonderful jobs here...and they are right up there with Patti, Aretha and Jennifer Holiday.

  • I love the voices of both ladies, but think that Stephanie does a much better job on this song. Someone sent me nearly every song that Miss Mills ever recorded and I think she's fantastic. I love her duets with Teddy Pendergrass and the song, "His name is Micheal". There's noone who can sing home like Stephanie. She gives me goosebumps. There is no comparison. both ladies are dynamite, outstanding, and different.

  • She's a very tiny lady with a HUGE voice.

  • Stephanie Mills is the ultimate when it comes to singers.Such a big voice from such a cute little package.

  • i heard "his name is Michael" was about the late and out of this world great Michael Jackson because they were dating do you know if its really about him??

  • I just asked my mom and she said that they probably never "actually" dated. She said that the great publicity machine was working overtime to make Michael seem as "normal" as possible.

  • Wow! I have been looking for this song by Stephanie mills for a very long time so I could put it on my IPOD. I tunes doesn't have it and limewire doesn't either. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT CD THIS IS FROM. I checked cd universe and I cant seem to find it. I use to have the album.

This is my first time hearing Whitneys version but I'm in love with Stehanies version.

  • Please read desciption for the video.

    Thanks for watching

  • Its from THe Polygram/Universal "Merciless" Album and The Weather Girls/Two Tons of Fun are singing background

  • Thank you.

  • A 1982-83 Whitney is better than a late '90s Whitney even; there are NO strains at all here, there's some youthful strains present including some breath sounds, but NOTHING like the primitive vocals found on Life's A Party. Remember, most of her debut was recorded in 1984 so you can definately feel that she's pretty much entered her vocal prime here. In fact, Whitney is the same age here when Mariah recorded her debut.

  • I think there is a world of difference between this Whitney and 88-92 Whitney. 88-92 is more her vocal prime. Her I'm Your Baby Tonight(3rd) album probably captures her voice at it's best. Also, Whitney was 16 when she recorded this. Mariah's debut came out when she was 20, I don't think she was recording at 16.

  • I have to disagree with you on that....When she came out with "I'm Your Baby Tonight" she had been smoking cigarettes and it changed her Timbre and It made her voice strain more when she belt higher notes than it did on her 1st 2 alums....

  • Both of these ladies are fabulous. I had never heard Stephanie's version until now, it is definitely jazzier sexier and more soulful. I still like Whitney, and its the version I've always known, but it is more stagier . . . like Broadway or a Vegas showcase.

  • Stephanie tone is not as pretty as Whitney sorry. Whitney is a higher soprano!

  • There is no comparison, BOTH ARE GREAT!!! If you take into consideration that Whitney was only 16/17 at the time, then she wins hands down; but bottom line, it shows how two great artists with different voices and styles of singing can both do GREAT JUSTICE to a song. I think they both win!!

  • There is no comparison, Stephanie is singing for complete passion, Whitney is singing for money... If u can't hear that, u have no soul... Whitney's is good but Stephanie put so much soul on her's....

I'm a gay man and everyone one knows how gay men feel about Whitney Houston... But this time she loses!!!

  • I love Whitney and know her songs off by heart....this is the second song I've ever heard by Stepanie and she killed it!!!! Pure soul!!

  • lol I'm a gay man as well. I thought Steph was gonna win this 1 too but I LIKED Whits version better. The SHEER POWER of her voice WON ME OVER & IMO it sounds soulful, but also POP, which was part of Whitney's BRILLIANCE & APPEAL than. Alot of people talk about how "white" she was, well that was to people who were used to 60's & 70's music. I was born in 81 so Whitney didn't sound "white" to me. I call her early music R&B/POP with a tinge of soul. I will say Stephanie's version was more SOULFUL.

  • sorry ya'll but I only have ears for whitney (and about 2 others :), that being said give me whitney ALL day EVERYDAY!!

  • Both classic. Whitney Houston is my world, even here at 16 she was mesmerizing. You guys have to go hear her live version from 1986 3 years after this recording she out did herself.

  • I like both...but I'm a sucker for early Whitney!

  • OMG Whitney's version could be remixed into an killer dance anthem!

  • I LOVE BOTH VERSIONS:)

  • Both of them are great an cannot be compared

  • Whitney

  • Stephanie

  • Obviously Whitney is the best!!

  • I think they are both fine. Stephanie's is Quiet Storm radio around 2am (right after Luther and Teddy). Whitney's is 80's Pop radio around 9pm (right after Gloria Stefan and Celine Dion).

  • I am glad to see that people are still posting comments about this!!! The comments are tasteful and relevant. There was one or two off topic, but I have really enjoyed reading what people are saying. I am a die hard Steph fan and Whit is my girl also. Stephs version has been in my heart since I bought the album back in the 80's (yes, I said album)

I love that Whit is so influenced by Steph. Whit even sang HOME alot when when was coming onto the scene. These are my girls. Both of them!!!

  • considering whitney was a teenager when this was recorded, she holds her own, but stephanie had come into her voice as a young woman all ready and she takes it....now today it might be a different ballgame...whitney could sing circles around this today

  • Interesting, but personally I think Whitney's voice on this song is MUCH better than her 2008 voice, which is still recovering from a variety of things. Let's pray that Whitney can reclaim at least half of her vocal glory!

  • Obviously Stephanie Mills had a huge influence on Whitney Houston, from the growls, use of head and super head voice, the belting, even the tone -- Whitney always sounded closer to Stephanie Mills than any other singer in the 80s, and that's because Mills influenced her. The one thing I'll give Whitney is that her timbre is darker than Stephanie's. So their style of singing isn't that different, really.

Anyway, Stephanie wills this. Her arrangement was better, so was her interpretation.

  • Stephanie has not influenced Whitney please go head with that. Thats Whitney's Momma thats her influence.

  • they're both better than this song. it would take singers of this caliber to make this song sound like something.

  • This song fits Stephanie Mills style of singing- Not a good song for Whitney. They have different styles of singing!! But great voices!

  • It's a tie!!!!!!!

  • stephanie voice is unique, and whitney voice is like you have heard it befor, but they both are unique in there own way, no can sing in the r&b music today like our girls from the mid 80's and back, forget about this mess they are turning out today, machine made, no clothes on, going naked so you can't hear those bad notes, hhhhhhaaaaa, both stephanie and whitney wins

  • Whitney can sing but I love Stephanie's better, I remember Stephanie's version but I didn't know Whitney had recorded it too. Stephanie's voice is much fuller and stronger and her low tone are excellent and she modulates so well. Stephanie is another great singer that's just so underrated.

  • This isn´t the WHITNEY THE WORLD CAME TO KNOW.

I`ve seen her live and goose bumps covered my body. Stephanie is loaded with talent and has Whitney beat on THIS song. Overall it is difficult to say who is better. In their prime, just two blessed singers.

  • I love love love Stephanie, but because until now I never knew she did this song, and I've always loved Whitney's version, I'll have to give it to her. It's a first love kinda thing.

  • i love whitney version.i have them both on vinyl!!!

  • Something about Stephanie tone I could never get with!!!!!!!

  • yeah its kinda squeaky. not somthing i could listen to all the time but she can sing. not whitney though whitney got a clear voice

  • they both sound realy good.. stephanie mills is underated...

  • I guess Whitney was young as an artist when recording this song because she didn't sound like herself...she changed her tone to sound like Stephanie instead of adding her own flavor, other wise she would have blown Stephanie out of the water! I guess it would be rude to "out sing" the original artist. Stephanie was good too, don't get me wrong!!! Hefa can sang! lol

  • I love Whitney, and it is my first time, that I can recall hearing Stephanie, but judging as a person of music I would say that Stephanie won hands down.

  • Stephanie definitely makes me think of Patti... and I do prefer her ON THIS SONG over Whitney.

  • Whitney wins!

  • You know, I think folks vote in these kinds of competitions because it's based on there personal likes and dislikes verses understanding MUSIC!! Whitney's version is a REMAKE and thus the arrangements and stylings were created a little differently to show the nuances of the song. Vocally, Whitney has patterned herself AFTER Stephanie in this piece and you can hear it in her phrasing and tonations. She doesn't have the Soul or the Power that was given by Ms. Mills hence the musical interludes!

  • Thanks for your awesome comments!
