An interesting point was made as to the type of climate the Mayans lived in, and how it may have affected their predictions. What if they meant the end of their world, not the globe?
E.g. in the Greek New Testament there are four words rendered "world", and only two of them can apply to the physical earth.
Can we be certain that any prediction they made was not intended to be LOCAL?
E.g. "the face of the whole earth" Genesis 8:9 compared to Exodus 10:15.

Also decreasing pressure would make the planet hotter, not colder. Continents are always moving, every hour of every day, due to plate tectonics.

I'm pretty sure the bible was written after the Sumerians and based around it. Jesus was just a dude with some good idea's and wanted peace and good mannered people. God and angels were were described as aliens by Sumerians.
If people don't believe in this stuff then stop looking it up. Kind of pathetic. Also, i read that 2012 is only the beggining of the end of humanity. Who really knows though? I guess we'll see.

Its funny how people think that Mayans made it up. BUT, think of this. In present day people believe God talks to them. What if the Mayan were comunicated by the Gods?! I hope you are right :) trying to stay optimistic but all this turmoil in the world is scary although we do have immediate access due to technology these days to any turmoil that occurs at any given time. We are a much more informed (or misinformed depending on how you look at it) than what we have been in the past maybe things really aren't that different compared to history-we just are more informed-in an instant :) which makes everything seem so doom and gloom
