In the Soviet Union about 40% were religious and most likely non of the high party member were soviets

I respect michael parenti but how many high members of the communist party were self identified theists

The fairness doctrine was revoked way before I was old enough to know what was going on. I've never heard anyone on the left mention it before. Hearing Mr. Parenti invoke it makes me sad. Maybe that is one small thing we can fight for. I do remember in my conservative days hearing the Limbaughs and Coulters rail against the very mention of it. That is reason enough to bring it back.

i don't have the sense that the same hostility exists in the u.s against non-believers as it must have when parenti gave this talk over 20 years ago... although politicians still so use religion as one of their tools to manipulate the public...
