hey lady, you look like an old grandma, disgusting! put some makeup on, get out of those old lady hospital bed clothes, and at least show some sexiness. you should be ashamed of being a female!
does anyone know where i can find a video where it actually shows you how to groom a maltese..i just bought a trimmer for my dog..and i want to know how to use the tools properly on my dog.
@fuwwe2 I use a shaver with a blade on it to keep it from knicking it. It works great, I spray a conditioner spray on it first and brush it through. I start my combing the hair backwards and shave it from there. I clean the ears, eyes, and anal glands. and cut his nails. I also use scissors, cut in the direction that the hair is growing.
@xxArmor4SleepRoxx Go for aPUPPY CLIP! She Will Still Be Gorgeous, BUT Mangeable! Huge Huggz :) PS...Let the Ears Grow Out a Little...Cute Look! xxAmor have you ever thought of letting your Maltese look like a Maltese and not cutting her hair all off. I have 6 Maltese and it isn't that hard to take care of their hair if you just spend a little time each day brushing it.
to answer marianne6121 - it's a matter of preference...I find maltese's with short hair way more cuter than the ones with long hair, plus wayyy more easier to care for (I've had both.)
Why do people get a Maltese if they want a short haired dog??? I have 6 Maltese with long hair, it doesn't take that long to take care of them if you do it on a daily basis.
She is cutting the dog's hair the way the owners told her to cut their dog's hair. The first dog had nice long flowing hair and the clients liked the work involved in keeping it nice in between groomings. Most people get a Maltese, Yorkie, or Cocker Spaniel and don't want to keep the hair long the way the dogs look in dog shows. The videos show some possible styles on the dogs that owners often ask for.
I have a Lhatese (Lhasa/Maltese) and he goes to sleep when I cut his hair. I don't think the breed matters much, it's their personality. Once I'm done cutting, he's back to running around and playing.
I THINK THE "PUPPY CUT" IS THE CUTEST ON A MALTESE...NOT SHAVING AS IN THIS VIDEO. I TOOK OUR LITTLE THEO TO THE GROOMER..GETTING HOME FOUND BLOOD ON THE BELLY OF HIM...HE RAN AND HID UNDER A BED FOR TWO DAYS..I CALLED TO REPORT THIS INCIDENT AND THEY SAID "SORRY" I NEVER WENT BACK. I KEPT HIM CUT LIKE A LIL BEAR BECAUSE OF POSSIBLE MATTING AND CONSTANT BRUSHING. I REALLY DID NOT DO MY HOMEWORK BEFORE PURCHASING THIS BREED..GORGEOUS DOG, VERY HIGH MAINTENENCE!
I agree with that. It is just my opinion about that this dog should have a long hair. My baby has long flowing hair without a single nut on it and sometimes he chases the dogs, digs the ground, plays in grass with seeds like all dogs do. My point was about how you want to see your dog. I like a long hair Maltese. I put linseed and mink oil + almond conditioner on his hair &dry him with a hair dryer.however my he is dirty after playing on the ground it can be washed very easily with water.
I have Maltese and he has long hair down to the floor. He is not a show dog but I just cannot get what is the purpose to have Maltese and cut his hair so short. Maybe better to buy a poodle? Maltese is all about flowing long pure white hair. It takes every day care and hard work to grow his hair down to the floor but how adorable this dog looks than!!!! Voila!
@Doshula Because like any other dog, Maltese enjoy going to the beach, swimming, running through long grass with seeds and buzzies, digging, rolling around in dead birds and other activities that result in matting and you spending hours trying to dig all the crap out of their coats. My maltese x always gets a short puppy-cut before Xmas (which this year will be done by me as every place in the area is booked out for 3 months) so he can enjoy summer without being burdened by a hot, heavy coat.
I own a maltese. When we asked our vet if she needs a haircut he said that malteses don't need haircuts. They need their hair because they have sensitive skin and eyes. So we haven't given her a haircut and she is 9 years old. A friend of mine that owns a maltese too, as soon as they gave her a grooming, the dog was shocked and didn't come out of it's bed for a week. And that's because maltese are proud of their hair.
i was vacuming and my maltese was right by the vacum when i turned it on and his tail got sucked in the vacum and it made his hair really short will it grow back? i feel so bad :(
my bichon maltese got an unexpected hair cut, just like that maltese above. i hated it. next time i go and ask the groomers to give my dog a trim, i will show them a picture of how i want her final results to look. it seems like groomers go over board, and start chopping and shaving away!
I don't like this cut..........its TOO short for a Maltese! It takes away their prettiness and they don't look as cute............I especially hate the way the cut the hair around the face! I would never have my Maltese cut this way...........

I think this is how to shave a Maltese not groom it. Maltese are beautiful dogs. It takes talent to properly groom them.
