The Dutch also go for length of pike - which I find puzzling. I'd rather catch a fat 90cm fish than a skinny 100cm fish any day of the week. It's all about poundage here in the UK!
Why are people on this site so cynical? Everyone doubts everything. My dad caught a 36 inch pike that weighed 15.8 pounds. He weighed it on 3 different digital scales. They were all within .2 pounds of 15.8. So a 41 would probably weigh at least 17 pounds

Nice fish-check your scale, most 40 42 inch pike I catch with the same girth like that are around 13-14 lbs.You mention it being all about the catch and realease, never hold a fish upright by the gill plate or hang it on a scale verticaly, it's body needs to be supported ,sorry, that fish swim away healthy, but will most likely die in the next 48 hours.I recommend a cradle for handling measuring and weighing big fish.BTW-thatw as too long out of water too
you are wrong Pike up to a weight of about 20 lb can be held safely like this with no damage to the fish above this weight should always be slung or cradled also there is quite a variance in length to weight ratio as the charts in F.Bullers mammoth pike shows

Pike weight varies because they can range from very fat , to very skinny. So I don't think this guy would lie about it?
