@joshrobertcassey i agree,. i'm just saying, pink floyd is an overall exception. the band that pretty muched started pop music (i use the term in a wider sense), the beatles, couldn't start anything today. i miss the soul, the message and the great skills of bands like pink floyd, too. however, many rock bands weren't all that good (think about acdc, for instance) and at least in the 90s there was great rock/alternative etc.

@parnicksmusick truth is, A momentary lapse wasn't up to floyd's standards, but I think this song here is a true classic. Now, as far as "Yet another movie", "A new machine", "dogs of war" etc etc are concerned, they are probably influenced by the corny elements of the 80's.
