  • I only know a little svenska, I recognized words here and there but it did little good:'(

  • How come the title is in English when the interview is in Swedish? Makes sense.

  • I dont know what they are saying but i can just stare at them cause i love their music. lol

  • Loaded up the video, pressed play. Saw them, had to pause it. They're beautiful and make amazingly beautiful music.

  • Hummm...I wish I could speak Swedish now, I don't understand a word.

  • @GirlsOnTV1 I have translated most of what they're saying further back in the comments. Of course the top comment has to be about how hot Olof is instead of a comment letting people know there's some translation -.-

  • @Mycenaea Thank you! I'll look for your comment. And yeah, i've noticed that too...

  • sexy

  • Love them so much!

  • @DarkChrisHour If you had read like four comments below, you would see that I did translate most of the interview a few pages back(I think some got lost however as you can't "spam" comments on youtube).

    Enjoy :)

  • @Mycenaea "This machine is obsolete"

  • strange they aren't hiding their real faces and voices...

  • NOT how i imagined "the knife" in real life =)

  • @nickleus1977 Then, how did you imagine them? ^^

  • @Konfettikaktus much darker, less "normal" =)

  • By the way... if anyone want a somewhat OK English translation, just look at older comments where I tried to translate most of what was said in this clip(currently page 6).

  • is this language real or faked ? :-)) Very strange indeed.

  • @SunRey69 It's Swedish. Why is it strange? :)

  • @Rasmusorum Try Reaktor from Propellerheads, or Roland 303 etc.

  • The site hosting the English translation has been suspended; is there another site in which it can be found?

  • @ThatKidOverThere archive.org

  • @delbertgrady

    Thank you!

  • could you please inform me when you found it? archive.org didnt help me

  • @Plastikschaufel It might be as a kind of 'bonus material' on the movie called 'Hannah med H', which The Knife made a soundtrack to.

  • i love her!

  • Wow, es realmente lindo! :D Y son muy buenos los dos!!! Me gusta mucho su música!!!!!!!!! :D

  • you'r fucking awsome guys!

  • Olof: I LOVE YOU!

please someone tells me he's gay!

  • lol. I wish

  • well, all girls and gays that say olof is cute, Karin is also good looking!

  • it was 2003

  • The ylook younger then i thought they were!

  • Q: Last of all a question we ask everyone: what music did you listen to when you were young(er)?

A: Olof - err... Tältprojektet(read about it on Wikipedia). When we were really young!

Karin - And a lot of reggae... Bob Marley. Yes, a lot of Bob Marley.

    Olof - And jazz.

  • @Mycenaea Thanks!

  • Note: Peter Wahlbeck is a Swedish artist, comedian, actor, writer and scripwriter that invented the concept "für alle", which Im not gonna explain what it is.

  • Olof - We watch a lot of movies... there are many interesting directors like David Lynch... and Richard Kelly that made 'Donnie Darko'. We're also inspired by Peter Wahlbeck and his earlier performances "Teater für alle", "Balett für alle", etc. His ability to combine humor and very clear and strong political messages/statements. Very powerful and nice concepts.

  • It is about illustrating/strengthen the emotions and feelings the director wants the movie to convey. So the emotions are not directly from us two. We have to try to understand what the director wants from a certain scene in the movie.

Karin - It's mostly "mood music" and then some "real" songs, but it's mostly to strengthen the emotions and feelings in the movie. It's different from what we've done previously.

  • Q: How does that work? What kind of movie is it? How is the process of making music to a movie - is it different than the way you normally create your music? Are you trying to "fit the music to the characters' situation"?

A: Olof - It's a youth movie, dramathriller about a girl that is a bit alternative/strange/different. And when we do this type of music it is very different than we normally do.

  • Q: What are you working on now? What is your current project?

A: Right now we're... since fall we're working on music to Kristina Olofsson's new movie "Hannah med h", which probably will start rolling on the cinemas next fall or maybe later. We do all the music in the movie and we're done with that soon.

  • Karin - We have from the very beginning been a stuio band. We create and record our music in a small room somewhere and therefore don't have anything visual to show, something that would fit on a stage. It is possible we will find a way though!

  • You are awesome to post translation here. Big up!

  • I'm glad you liked it and hope you understood most of it.

Youtube bugged tho, so a lot of what I posted haven't been posted after all - what I've translated isn't all that is said in this clip.

  • Q: How come you never do live performances?

A: Olof - When the last album was completed, we had thoughts about start doing live performances, but we were so terribly tired of all the tracks on the album since we had been working on it for a long time, so it was just natural for us to not start the process of taking our computermade music to live performances.

  • Best brother and sister band ever.

  • At 6:54 he mentions "Richard kelly" and "Donny Darko" I wonder what he's referring to them about?

  • Not very easy to translate in an understandable way because he talks like he is retarded.

    But literally he says:

"We like lots of films... ehhhmm, we watch a lot of films. Ehhh but well, there are a bunch of exciting directors. David Lynch and Richard Kelly which have made that Donnie Darko"

  • Poor thing....

    Humanity 0 - Cvntishness 1.

    Let's turn things around!

  • Nice language, but unfortunately the german boy dont understand anything...^^

    No subtitles available?

  • what a strange language :)

  • Is this them? Is this THE Knife?

For a moment there I was wondering if the guy was a mute, haha.

  • She is gorgeous :)

  • Im in love with Olof I think he is beautiful not that any of you care! grrr >:o

  • He is absolutely gorgeous! I care!!

  • There are up to 7 questions so the translation continues to the next page.

    you're welcome everybody :)

  • (Question 1) Reporter: How have you changed since your last CD?

Karin: Well...we wanna make music that is right on the issue...the message in our music has been kind of hidden below the preface. Our last CD might have been kind of introverted. Full of secrets, and i feel that we should do something opposite.

  • (Question 2) Reporter: In some songs you sing like a woman and in others lika a man. Why?

Karin: If theres a special message were trying to announce, it gets that special twist if I sound like a man.

  • Things that have been said over and over by girls; feminist ideas that girls have spoken alot about but men hasnt figured out. So if I do it with a male voice something happens. Plus, sometimes when we remix my voice its something inbetween man and woman, kinda androgynous. You never know where you have it, and thats kind of exciting.

    What do you say?

Olof: Mm...Its fun to make a twist on Karins voice so it makes the whole thing alot funnier.

  • (Question 3) Reporter: How important is it to have a message in your music?

Olof: For us when we have created music it has become more and more imortant.
