I sent this to lotus
I under stand that you company like to use Toyota engines and i was wounder if there away to order a EVORA with a 5.7l V8 supercharged like the one found in the Toyota Tundra. I would like a car faster then a corvette and F-430 but for a $120,000 price range.
This is a 7200LB truck that is as fast as a SS Camaro OR Subrua RWX STI So in the EVORA you would probably get like 11's sec
Well, the main problem is the engine size. The vehicle would have to be completely redesigned in order to accommodate such an engine and with an engine of that size, performance would suffer.
its not about the engine size. its arder to make a better car with the lower engine. u think they cudnt ad 1 point to 3.5 and make it with the bigger engine?
Super00su, you can't even speak English, how the hell are you trying to write a letter? Oh and please stop talking about owning exotics, you sound like a little retard.
"Edmunds tested a TRD supercharged Tundra which completed the 1/4 mile in 13.3 sec @ 103.8 mph (167.0 km/h).Edmunds previously tested a naturally aspired 5.7-liter V8 Tundra which posted a 14.8 sec @ 93.7 mph (150.8 km/h) time. Motor Trend's test of the supercharged Tundra resulted in a 1/4 mile of 13.0 sec @ 106.3 mph (171.1 km/h). This Tundra needed 4.4 seconds to run from 0-60 mph.
are you seriouse? they are in same price range. plux GTR has more horsepower. i mean if you are going to spend that kind of money, you would not nearly care about gas milages.
the question is, have you seen one in person? because i have and it looks sick. i thought the design was ok in picture, but my once i've seen it in person, i was sold. well i have not seen this Lotus in person, but Gt-R sounds better to me. and what do you mean Gt-R is slower?? are you kidding me? it's faster than this Lotus Evora........
Watch the Sky Motoring review. They did say that the Evora would match up well to a Porsche Cayman, maybe even a 370z. A GT-R or a 911 will eat this for breakfast.
You are right though, the GT-R is much heavier, but it was built and engineered to go around corners quicker than most cars. I really don't see this car beating a GT-R.
Put a couple of turbos or a supercharger, and it MIGHT be able to keep up. I must say though, it is quite sleek and stylish, but a tad too pricey.
I currently drive an elise and I am looking fwd to a drive in the evora. What you have to realise is that driving a Lotus isn't about going fast in a straight line. Lotus make some of the best chassis in the world and they will corner faster than most supercars costing 3 times as much.
NOT A CAMARY ENGINE more like the Celica engine, but lotus also did basically make the rest themselves which is good. I cant wait to get my hands on that new lotus! its gonna be sweet. Its also not even that bad of a price, Im gonna guess they throw it out at 80k MSRP.
The Evora is something you buy if you a comfortable Lotus. A "Lotus" is not a car its a philosophy. Just like Ferarri, Lambo and Aston Martin. They are creations with a kind of personality. You don't get one because they are fast. You get them because they match your soul. ... and for the record its a Celica engine not a camry... American wanker!!!
hey shark, do some research before talking about things you dont understand. The 3.5 in the evora is toyota's 2gr-fe, which is almost identical to the lexus IS350's 2gr-fse and is also on Wards 10 best engine list producing around 310hp, the supercharger should add around 70hp, hardly a grocery getter. The final version of the evora is expected in the mid 3 second range, anymore haters out there?
What about Cosworth? The DFV was the most successful engine ever in F1. The YB turbo in the Ford Sierra Cosworth is a great engine also.
What about Lotus twin-cam engines in the 60s? They were also involved with the development of engines for the Mk4 Astra and Zafira Mk1 - both of which are smooth and reliable.
You'll often find that many great engines have involved British engineers.
As a basic principle you can increase a car's lap time if you reduce it's weight, regardless of engine capacity. Obviously there are other factors to consider such as aerodynamics, chassis design, suspension etc, but on the basis of weight an engine size - power to weight ratio is key. A 276hp engine in a relatively lightweight car is going to be quick.
But it's got the economy, If it was the new exige yeah I'd agree but.
It's not so much designed for sport. they havn't supercharged it and I'd bet they'll release another model which is and it'lkl have plenty enough horsepower
Lotus has almost never had big engines except for the Esprit V8. It doesn't need a big engine if it's lightweight. It still does 0-60 in sub 5. Does a Nissan Maxima do that? No.
HAHA these foos talkin shit like their car would beat it...ya in ur dreams. I doubt any of yal will sit in or even see one in your lifetime. HAHAHAHAHA
You're just plain stupid. Everyone knows that Lotus makes some of the most lightweight cars. Ok, so it doesn't have as much horsepower as the maxima or TL, but look at the Elise or Exige. They both have tiny toyota engines, but are faster than most "sports" cars on the market today, including the above-mentioned luxury cars. Lotus is known for track performance. Yes, Lotus is using a "Camry" engine, but they put their own spin on it with the exhaust, intake, and electronics. Big change.
I think over the next few years, as lotus will most likely update its agressiveness and power, it should turn into a very nice car. Look at how the elise turned in to the exige s240 in a few short years.
I like the interior but not the exterior. lotus needs to distinguish its cars from one another.

GT-R and 911 are turbo cars. The Evora is naturally aspirated car. Put a turbo/supercharger into the Evora than there will be a competition.

dumb shit youre not looking at the power to weight ratio.

its gonna be cheaper than 75 grand
probably be around 50
most things dont translate direcetlywith the uk
the m3 costs 50 thousand pounds thats almost 100k usd
while its only 50 grand here in the us
the 911 turbo costs something like 113k gbp
and thats equivalent to like 160 grand
yet it costs 126usd
the evora is probably gonna cost 45-50 grand in the us
