I went to Chinatown in Los Angeles and held various waxwood poles and they were all stiff. Just a little springiness. I know how to release power. Just haven't found a good pole. Thanks for the reply.

Nice Form! What kind of wood is your pole. I have checked out rattan and waxwood poles but none had the springiness of yours. Thanks.

@kungfuseafoo it's waxwood. The "springiness" comes from the power being released

i didnt know CLF had a Ng Long Bat Gwa Gwun, i thought only Hung Ga had that. but very nice vid! btw, my sigung was a student of Fong Yuk Shu as well.

@TongYunJai I've seen other choy lay fut practitioners from guangzhou do the same form but with a spear and called it "yang family spear". BTW thanks for the compliment, it's always good to hear from others from the Fong Yuk Shu lineage

@K3hungsing ooooo in that case, you are right. both my sigung and my father were from guangzhou, and my father has indeed practiced the "Yang Family spear" (Yeung Ga Cheung). i didnt know they were the same thing. just curious, is CLF's Ng Long Bat Gwa Gwun the same as the Hung Ga version?
