  • Sorry bud, as you have read the engine is finished. People are harsh in the comments I see! If you're going to own a volvo, do your research get knowledgeable on theses cars. They are like a women they are complicated, need lot of your time, money and tLc and it will not settle for cheap products or lack of maintenance, if that's how you care for them don't expect loyalty. If you know your volvo and give it what it wants the car will last a life time!

  • yep what silvers70 said it is rod knocking. so yea dsts y u never buy a engine off of ebay. cause once its shipped its shipped. sorry that happend.

  • sounds like too many things, its hard to diagnose anything with just hearing a noise, prolly got it fixed by now though

  • I would say rod knock. Maybe should think about change the engine, cuz it will stop runnin' soon. And then, the repairs will be pretty expensive.

  • Sounds like low or no oil. Bent rods, Cams could be out of line. Glad you got another engine. Make sure you use synthetic in it, and change your oil regularly. Also make sure that you purchase and install a BRAND NEW Timing Belt, Timing Belt Tensioner, Idler Pulley, and Water pump. THose items are a must, and can be purchased off ebay as a complete kit for between $100-$175. It will be like $200+ if your car has a hydraulic Timing belt tensioner. Otherwise it will be $100-175, most likely $135.

  • it seems on a valve. Very easy to diagnose it. Just check pressure of each cylinder, one cylinder should have lower pressure. Than inject into cylinder 2 or 3 ml of oil a immediately check pressure of this cylinder again. When pressure remains low, problem is in valve and head must go out.

  • Well yes and no .. I brought a newer engine off of ebay with 61k on it for 1,100 and how it is at the shop to get fixed sent it there on tuesday i should be getting it on friday ... thanks for the update....

  • Rod Knock. That engine is in horrible condition and will need to be replaced soon. Best of luck.
