  • Gotta love a GM that says his best quality is letting players explore and not railroading, then turns around gives the classic "I am God" line, and says good players are those that cooperate. lmao. I have played under a couple GMs like this in my day. You're free to do as you will, as long as your will his his will. lol

  • D&D (1st & 2nd), Star Frontiers, Gamma World (1st),Top Secret, Twilight 2000 (1st & 2nd), TMNT, Marvel Super Heroes, James Bond, GURPS (fantasy, supers, martial arts), Bushido, Earthdawn (1st), Torg, Mechwarrior, Immortal (The invisible war edition), Deadlands (1st), Star Wars (West End & Saga), and many home-made games (usually using GURPS or Savage Worlds). Currently running Deadlands 1st edition once a week.

  • Great answers. Sounds like you are a perfect, what ever that word can mean, GM.

I have GM'ed the newest Gamma World, do not know what edition it is, AD&D, and Gurps 3rd edition.

  • @TheVikingHill Thank you. But I am far from perfect. I think there are a number of better GMs here on YT. Such as the Gentleman and Ander.

  • Star Wars

  • D&D (1, 2 3), Metamorphosis Alpha (original), Gamma World (1, 2, 3 ), Cyberpunk 2020, All of Rolemaster 1ed and 2ed stuff, ,Palladium stuff ie robootechetc, Traveller all editions, CoC RQ, RW Elfquest Space opera Chivalry and Sorery 1,2, 3,etc, Psi World, All of the TRI TAc stuff, Hero systems 1, 2 4 ,5 ed, Chill, Night Life (the best monster game) ,Pendragon, Nephilim, Adventures in Time and Space , Fasatrek, Gurps, Prime directive , Aftermath, Morrow project ,Superworld not enuff space

  • Did you miss out TMNT on purpose or was you a player. Please can I add your vids to my rolelaying website? Gamesmasters with a dot and a org. Your awesome to listen to. Love the red mist description very cool, must have been a epic session. I GM:

    rolemaster

    Warhammer 1&2

Have GM'd many games, many, list goes some!

Like to go back to AD&D 3.5 though, but got player reluctance?

  • @thenerk Feel free to link my videos through your site.

I've become quite attached to Pathfinder as of late.

I loved After the Bomb, particularly the second edition. Great mutant animal creation rules. I'm not thrilled with the Palladium system itself however.

  • Hi there, a list of all the games I have GM'd oh god..lol started with Dungeons & Dragons, Advanced Dungoens and Dragons, 2nd Editions D&D, 3rd and 3.5 D&D,Pathfinder, 4th edition D&D, Rolemaster, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 1st ed, Palladium, Rifts, Robo Tech, Dangerous Journeys, Recon, Stormbringer 1st ed, Star Wars (west end games version), The riddle of Steel, Currently running Pathfinder once a week for a group of 7 .

  • D&D 2,3,3.5. Starwars d6, d20, saga. Pathfinder. Call of Cthulhu d100, d20. D20 Modern. I think as I grow older CoC d20 is becoming my favorite game to run.

  • cyberpunk for life <3

  • Some great advice there. I've gm'd d&d 3/3.5e, starwars (d20), call of cthulhu, dark heresy, rogue trader and deathwatch

  • I've been playing since '77 or '78 as well. It's like LISTENING into a mirror, especially at 4:08. Tough to find a DM I enjoy playing with as a character. (Too long the DM). Savage Tide's Isle of Dread was great as a player, even with a new DM. Probably the best fun i've had GM'ing was running the Buck Rogers game, where I had all the players part of a NATO Special Forces unit that got froze at the same time as Buck. SEAL, SAS, Spetsnaz all trying to deal with the changes of Buck's era...joyful

  • great advice bud your a fella after ma own heart as a GM. i've been in the hobby since about the same time..though admittedly now rarely get to game. Myself personally have Gm'd D&D old red book etc plus all incarnations to 3.5, other systems include Gamma world(all) Aftermath(FGU) Champions,Golden Heroes,Traveller,SpaceOpera(FGU) RQ,CoC, etc at the moment am writing up a sci-fantasy for Basic roleplaying ( chaosium) which is great fun and is looking more like a old Gamma World bash lol

  • Great video, thanks for the advice. Gamma World 4th edition is one of my all time faves as well. Games I've GM'd: Basic D&D AD&D 1st and 2nd D&D 3rd Star Frontiers Star Wars D6 and Saga Marvel Superheroes Indiana Jones (TSR version) Gamma World 1st and 4th GURPS Horror / Supers / Illuminati Call of Cthulhu I think I've played AD&D 2nd and Call of Cthulhu the most I really want to play Dark Heresy, Sci-Fi horror just works for me.
  • @RealNemo235 I forgot Star Frontiers! I've GM'd that as well.

  • Tets, one sentence: I simply love you! :D

You are one of the most magnificent persons I ever met and I'd really, really love to game some sessions with you.

    Systems I GMed:

    Vampire-The Masquerade (2. ed.)

    Vampire - Dark Ages

    GURPS (3rd+4th ed.)

At least 3 own complete systems

  • @CaraDanaellea Thank you Dear. :) I'll try and not let Skall get jealous. :)

  • @tetsubo57 No worries, Skall is pretty enthusiastic about you himself, so he understand me very well ;)

Ever thought about a "online" gaming session via Skype or MSN?

  • @CaraDanaellea I have considered it. But I crave that face-to-face contact.

Tell Skall to check is mail.

  • I've ran DnD 3.5 and Star Wars Saga. I've written campaigns for Mutants and Masterminds and Vampire the Requiem, but I haven't gotten the chance to run them yet.

  • @DarthWyyrlok I have yet to read the nWoD setting but I do plan on doing so. I have heard good things about it. Promethean in particular interests me.

  • I have game mastered (dunno if you can say it like that) only RuneQuest 2nd edition. The old one released in the late 70's or early 80's. Because it has been translated to finnish, and I prefer reading a book in my language. Not that I have a problem reading a book in english language, but now I'm just rambling away. I have a copy of Twilight 2000 ver. 2.2 sitting in my shelf but I wan't to get comfortable with the RQ rules before GM:ing other games.

  • @J0uzze I have twilight 2000 as well. I have the original RQ and I think I might have a copy of the newest version.

  • never piss of the dungen master they can make your life hell

  • ALSO! what are your thoughts on 4e dnd?

  • @tyleratthegates I guess I will have to do a video response to this question. You are not the only person to ask me about this...

  • ive been on and off playing dnd for about 7 years. ive only played with close friends because we all have that same interest, and i am always the dm. only recently have we started playing again, and guess whos dm.. me! i actually really love it. ive only dm'd 3rd edition and now im dming 4th editon d&d. its been fun so far. we like to use the wotc tiles and minis so 4th edition is really good for that. ive never been involved in any other rpg except dungeons and dragons.

  • I actually don't like the "GM is God" mentality. It doesn't sound like you abuse it, Tets, but it is grounds for the GMs lording over the campaign and nullifying character types/actions on a whim. As long as the GM realizes that without the Players he's essentially masturbating, I'm ok with him. He should steer clear of annoying players though, as they are just as important at the table as he. And if I'm a player, and I built a character to play with a certain rule, that rule better be used.

  • @azirk83 To explain that last sentence a bit better: If I'm playing D&D and I take Improved Initiative, I don't want to hear that you straight up just go clockwise around the table for initiative and not bother with the rolls. If I took Imp Ini, it means I want to use initiative RAW as I've invested in being better at that specific rule.

  • @azirk83 That is really about the player & the GM working together. I had a player once that made a knight type character. A LN fighter in 3.5 in a FR campaign. He took 'foreign' languages and some court themed feats. But never told me about his true desire. I don't read minds. If he wanted things to go in a certain direction he should have mentioned it. Then again I have thrown classed based things at a players feet and have had them ignored.

  • @azirk83 See this is why I like Mutants & Masterminds. I ran the Action Points house rule for D&D 3.5, but nothing better captures the collaborative story element better than M&M's fiat / Hero Point system.

It's a great way of saying "I'm fudging this one. You wander into the trap, it was unavoidable. You do not get a chance to spot it, but in return I give you a special token. You can use that token now to cancel out what I just did or you can save it up for a moment that you want to improve"..

  • That's the best GM attitude I can think of. GM's that try to enforce their predesigned storyline and prefer to push/guide the players back to the main path instead of letting them have some freedom can never be as good as more flexible ones.

I'm pretty sure Cara and I would have a lot of fun with you as GM. =)

So far I've GM'd The Black Eye, Shadowrun (3rd ed.), Gurps (4th ed.), and All Flesh Must be Eaten (only loosely based on the rules). For the most part I've GM'd with custom, basic rules.

  • Also, you GM Rifts?!?!?! Really?

  • @azirk83 Only very briefly, but yes. Long enough to gain the opinion that it wasn't much more than a terribly complex, house rule of 1st edition AD&D.

  • @tetsubo57 I couldn't believe it because I couldn't even play the game. Two hours into chargen and we all decided our time was better spent playing videogames.

  • In order: AD&D2 Dragonlance Fifth Age SAGA (it isn't D&D) Vampire: The Masquerade Revised Legend of the Five Rings 1E D&D 3.0 All Flesh Must Be Eaten Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2E Buffy/Angel Everway Mutants & Masterminds 2E Later this week I get L5R 4th edition, and today is the last day for the Hellas Kickstarter (google it, 2 full color hardbounds for $45, Greeks in Space! you can't lose). I'm also looking forward to my collector's edition of Blood & Honor coming in the mail.
  • many thanks god

  • 'How many systems have you GM'd?' Call of Cthulhu (2nd ed) D&D (Basic & Expert) AD&D 1st, 2nd, and 3rd editions - Greyhawk FTW!!! Mage the Ascension Star Trek (Last Unicorn version) TMNT Fading Suns Twilight 2000 Trying to get a CthulhuTech campaign going.... ....once I figure out how to make the Tager/Sorcerer/Psychic portion of the game as entertaining as the Mecha/Engle part.
  • @vynterbone I haven't read CthulhuTech yet but I will eventually.

  • many thanks great stuff

  • Great video.

  • ...Lord of the Rings Adventure Game, High Adventure Role Playing H.A.R.P., D&D 3rd & 3.5 (lots of games of these), AD&D 2nd, Unlucky7 (a game I made), Rolecraft (a game I made, but poorly, hehe), and lots of other free games I can't think of right now.

  • I don't think I could list all of the games I've ran over the years. I've ran a lot of 1-shots of free games, and I've tried running lots of games for my gaming group (but they only let me run some of the games 1 time, hehe).

Let's see if I can do this...

Barbarians of Lemuria (free & pay for version), 1-2-3 Cthulhu, Dread, Hunter (new and old), Vampire, Werewolf (new and old), OWOD Hack (Firefly, Fantasy, and Midnight Setting), Midnight D20, BRP Fantasy, Conan D20, Serenity, Rolemaster...

  • Since I am new to the hobby, I have GMed Savage Worlds and ERP. I think in the near future I might run a Passages game, and the Scion series really interests me.

  • Good vid!

  • @DeTzardis Thanks. :)

  • lol, we were quite poor, so we used to make up our own role playing games and our own rules. We had a few d&d style games, but we also had a starship transportation game where we smuggled contraband for the only purpose of pimping out our freighters with what ever armor, guns, engines we could imagine. when I was older, I got my first official gaming system, Heroes from DC comics. Later I played official D&D 2nd ed and Wraith.

  • @darktoadthesticky That's cool that you made your own systems. I've tried doing that several times, but I find I do better taking a hatchet to other systems.

  • @Samwise7RPG well, the rules quite often changed as the game went along. And our characters were often far from being noble.

  • @darktoadthesticky That sounds like a lot of fun. :)
