Not true. I understand the humor (or humour), and I'm an American. Basically they are portraying her as self-loving, and they make jabs at her by referring to her mother ("don't talk about my mum"), as Sophie is the illegitimate daughter of the host of Blue Peter. This is also the reason why they played the Blue Peter theme at the end.
