Good to see the band playing the "Garry Owen" which is the official march of my former US Army unit, The First Cavalry Division. Having been in the First Cav Artillery, I especially enjoyed it.
In answer to Spainter100, these soldiers honour the sovereign, they testify to the great history of our country and they undertake courageous acts on a daily basis. That's pretty impressive in my book.
What the hell is this? Do they still use this stuff. No offence to MOD or the soldiers, their day could have been spent a lot better. AnObserver from North America.
@spainter100 It's tradition, and what not. I'm from the US, and I find this to be quite interesting we inspect out own troops and so do foreign dignitaries.
@spainter100 Yes those guns are the battery of the Kings Troop RHA. But the guns last saw service in WW1 and the unit is a ceremonial unit. "Just as the mounted troop of the Horse Guards. Although al are trained in their role in the artillery and no doubt if required could effectively serve on the front line with modern guns.
Nice to see and hear the mounted Bugler playing - I wonder if that was the source of the Gallop call at 5:11 onward? Good job Bugler!

Great clip of the King's Troop RHA and nice to see that the clip starts with the BCs Trumpeter sounding "Draw Swords" at the mount.

What's the role of the trooper's with the lances?
HMservant 1 year ago
@HMservant They move into position to mark out the boundaries and important reference points used by the teams during their display.
troopingadmin 1 year ago
@HMservant But historically speaking, would they be in charge of correct gun emplacement or something similar?
HMservant 1 year ago
@HMservant I think that historically speaking, they would not exist. I believe that they are only for the purpose of the display.
