Uhh actually we'd be safer with sand because the energy released from the impact is transfered into the smaller particles of sand over a small radius. You can see the impact in the goo creates waves; waves that would pass through the entire earth like that of an earthquake. The earth's crust already works like that of a solid and liquid so the earth's crust already takes in impacts like the goo.

If an asteroid hit the Earth it wouldn't kill everytihng, because the explosion wouldn't be that big, and if it was, then it wouldn't go that far because the earth is round, and so is the explosion, so eventually it'd stop, or the people on the other side would be safe.

And jet streams would probably keep the dust from covering the whole Earth. Because when those 3 nuclear reactors in Japan started spewing, only the northern hemishpere was covered in radiation, the southern hemishpere wasn't because the jet streams pushed it up, and kept it there. And if an asteriod killed all the dinos, wouldn't it kill all other life too?
