The easiest way to execute a pre transformation kill is to use Excalibur and the two Gungnirs on three Robots, and max their STR stat with Sun/Dragon swords. Have Dad use the Psi Gun (or Flare) and Hecate boots. A mana maxed Human or Mutant with the second Psi Gun (or Flare) doesn't hurt either!
Synopsis: Apollo has 76 of the Magi and you have the 77th he convinced you to had the Magi over to him by threatening people you have met in the earlier worlds. he has already used the Magi but since he was missing one he could not attain the power he wanted and lost control of his powers. Your hero's father sacrifices himself for your characters and dies in the process.
Actually you have 76 of the magic and he has the 77th one. However there was another magi, heart that was kept a secret from everyone. Everything else is correct.
Although alternating between Masamune and Flare every turn made him the hardest boss if you didn't have a proper battle plan.

He can actually be killed if your party's stats are that badass. But remember, you have about 10 rounds or so to remove 20000 HP from Apollo.

Unless it's different in the original Japanese version, he actually has 77, and he's missing the 78th.
