The beauty of his incipit are lovely.

I find that as Gould ages he uses more a horrid staccato where a line is called for. He does, of course still give us the line, but it also shouts staccato too.

Now those free floating hands of his Siamese twin; could he perhaps put them to better use kneading bread dough?

Glenn appears to walk a razors edge in his performances. He seems aware of every vibration of every string he strikes. His absorption with what he's playing is other-worldly.

You can hear Gould singing along with his playing! I can practice 100 years and never come close to 1% of his playing!

Regardless of what anyone may think of his tempi in the opening, only Gould makes such unusual performance practice so compelling. And as so typical with any of Gould's bach early or late in his career, his articulation and rhythm are astounding. I almost wonder if he and Bobby Fisher ever met - two incredible geniuses in their own world (but who both rejected much of our world).
