The great thing about being part of something that disturbs outsiders is you can enjoy the exclusivity and sense of community that comes with that. While it's tempting to yell back at haters who won't ever see your point of view anyway, it's a lot less draining and a lot more fun to just dance and sing and celebrate even louder and wilder and prouder. In fact all the people yelling "YOU PEOPLE ARE SICK" only makes me want to know the truth first hand that much more.

This strikes me as incredibly bizarre and kind of creepy. But I'm creeped out easily- like that documentary about Star Trek people, I had to turn it off I found it so disturbing. I don't think I will ever understand the appeal of this but to each his own. As long as folks are having fun and not hurting people more power to ya. A film should be made about this phenomena.

its much the same as why do people join Nudist colonys. Being in the fursuit allows the person to be free without feeling the inhibitions of society just like the nudist feels free from the inhibitions and restrictions society puts on them so most anxiety is stripped away.

Funny thing is, Anthrocon started out as Albany Anthrocon in 1997, with only about 300 people in attendance. Now its grown into the largest Anthromorphic Furry convention in the world, with over 2000 people in attendance. Imagine that.
