bit over my christmas allowance :( if anyone could tell me the difference between this one and the cheaper version (Ibanez Montage MSC380QM) so that I know whether or not to save up for one that would be great :D
It has an incredible distortion tone built into it. I find that amazing and it seems like it has an acoustic feel which I am much more used to. I'd love to give it a try.
Im thinking of getting one of these for my birthday this year. im new to guitars. is it good? ive been on a starter for like a year =p. someone help, thanks =D
nahh, doesnt cut it for me... doesnt sound as accurate in all specs of it.... the acoustic doesnt sound acoustic, nor the clean electric or the electro-acoustic sound....gotta say it sounds awesome overall, but not accurate to the real separate guitars of each type..
@mcz2220 If you're looking for just ONE amp to run this guitar through. I would recommend a Roland Cube amp. They have a nice sounding on-board acoustic guitar simulator (for the acoustic side of the Montage) in addition to very good amp models (for the electric side of the Montage). To run through a PA you really don't need anything! I play through the sound system at my church. I can get acoustic sounds with reverb, and clean electric sounds with chorus and reverb right from the guitar!
Probably the biggest drawback of hybrid guitars is that they have either bronze strings, where the overwrap adds nothing to the magnetic sound, or light magnetic strings which don't sound as good acoustically. This magnetic sounds pretty good, especially considering only the core of the strings is magnetic. The Taylor T5 definitely has the playability of an electric guitar.
@arthur84, I've been using DR Zebra strings on my acoustic (haven't tried them on an electric yet) and I love them. I think this type of strings would be good for this type of guitar, IMHO...
ive compared this one to the taylor t5 and i personaly think this one sounds much better on all settings vs the t5's settings. im more of an acoiustic guitar player so this body style and sound appeals more to me, the t5 seems more electric based with acoustic capabilities, and the montage seems more acoustic based with electric capabilities
Its a touch quiet as a true acoustic, but remember it was designed for the gigging musician who wants everything in one guitar.. allowing you to just pick up and play on the run. Personally i love not having to take a trunk load of effects and guitars for each gig lol. But at the end of the day, as with all instruments, the guitar has to make the sounds YOU want.. not what other guys say it SHOULD sound like.
this guitar is amazing, i have the exact one. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Unreal sound. I have a little trouble with it live though, because it needs drastically different settings on the amp compared to your electric guitar, or you need to have the amp in front of you. still workin on the logistics, but AMAZING nonetheless.
Received my KOA Montage a couple of weeks ago. Haven't played any of my other guitars since it arrived. Changed the strings to D'Addario EJ16's and now sounds great even unplugged. The KOA is strikingly beautiful. $799 if you can find one. Now looking at a Crafter USA Slim Arch SA-ARW however in YouTube video it sounds weak unplugged.
i've got that on order, been waiting since May. i'm getting that same one in Koa, can't wait. hope it comes with a case. MF just delayed my order again to Sept. 22. can't wait!
Ibanez is so smart and cool. I love how they buck tradition with clever updates. They have REALLY stepped up their acoustic guitar game in the last few years. For the price, in my opinion, they are totally unbeatable. Their electrics have basically been unmatched since the late 80s. I also really love the feel of Ibanez guitars. They're always sleek and fun to play!
Beautiful Guitar! I just purchased one, it has amazing sound even through my cheap $100 amp. The sound c;arity cannot be comapred to any guitar i have ever heard, and i have absolutely no regrets on the purchase! it was a well spent $900.
Yep, it is an unplugged acoustic, and not only is it loud enough to hear, but the quality of the clarity is so amazing you never want to pick up a different guitar. :)
OMG AWSOME DISTORTION TONE FROM A BUILT IN DISTORTION AND AN ELECTRO ACUSTIC GUITAR !??!?!!??! PPLE SPEND THOUSENDS ON DISTORTION COMBINATION AND THIS JUST BLOWS THE SHIT OT OF YAH :d:d:d
I like that guitar, only the hole isn't so nice (imho). Does anyone know how broad the neck/saddle is? I want at least 4,6cm, but I guess this one is smaller. Or? I found no information on that.
I just got this guitar today from Island Music in Merritt Island Florida. This hybrid is unreal. It sounds sooo good especially plugged in. Its so user friendly and easy on the eyes! Very easy to play. Fun Fun Fun!!!
yes, you can use it unplugged and still be heard. the body overall is the size of a concert body and the soundhole is smaller than reg. guitar. i think if the soundhole was bigger it may sound bigger. i just got the koa body yesterday(the one's he's demoing) and the overall length is smaller than reg. acoustic. i guess to look more like an electric. very awesome guitar. esp. plugged in. you can get tons of diff. sounds from it
This guitar seems to really put the "electric" in acoustic / electric, while offering a wide range of "acoustic" tones, as well. Saw it in the Ibanez catalog and in the "official" video presentation - now that I've heard this guy crank it up, I'm sold!
will do. According to Musician's Friend, it should be shipping out to me on April 30th. As long as that date sticks, I should be able to comment on it early next month. I hope it's as good as it seems!
One could only hope they would bring the J-custom line to the united states.Mostly americans buyin em anyhow. And how bout a 7 string that isnt painted black jeesh...
I tried one at the store, and it's a very fun piece of equipment.
