This whole thing has made me question the existence of the CRTC. I use to value it, because it protected and encouraged Canadian content. However it has fostered an oligopoly of telecommunication. There is no incentive to innovate and reduce prices, so we pay a lot more and receive a lot less than any other country in the world.

Because there is no incentive to innovate, instead of trying to find a way to increase bandwidth, they will just charge us more. Great job CRTC.

Fast forward 5 years and now Bell wants to enforce this same policy on ISPs who piggy back off of Bell's 25 year rented lines from the government. Thus now the conservative party in a frenzy to take back this regulation as they know how much of a shit storm theyve opened up, and Bell's false excuses to justify this method of pricing.
