@halolife100 I avoid it like the plague, too many external variables, not to mention the "Fed" or Central Bank variable. Companies at least have checks and balances, these Central Banks can do whatever the hell they want. Not my cup of tea, however, that's what some people are good at.

@halolife100 I would trade NYSE personally(greater liquidity), although a lot of prop traders do trade NASDAQ, might be because of the smaller liquidity, it allows for them to have an effect on the prices there, very short term of course.
Yes, the T+3 basically stops me from trading intraday, it's very gay, to say the least. You need 25k and margin to day trade. T+3 basically means it takes 3 days for the money to settle from the buying of stocks. Futures and options don't have that restriction
Yeah, I'd like real time updates of the trades you do, how do I follow, twitter or something? Is there a specific reason you're trading NASDAQ ETFs (ProShares) rather than the SDS or NYSE ETFs. IMO the SDS follows the market much better. Also, there's the big movers like FAZ.
@halolife100 Yeah definitely, if you can catch those ultrabears on a downturn you're gonna make some nice moolah, it's what I'm looking to do due to small capital and unavailability of time to trade very much intraday. And you do seem to have a good grasp on the market, if you can keep your mentality the same with real money, however, what amount are you trading with in paper trades, and how much do you have in RL capital you are ready and able to lose. Everyone loses on the market(except GS).

@halolife100 Also, beware of trading any ultra or short ETFs for more than a few days, there's some serious contango in such equities. They are only made to track the underlying security in the intraday, long term, you're almost guaranteed to lose money with them, EVEN if you call the direction right. I remember looking at the historical data. If market went down 2% over a few months, the ultrashort would go up 4%. If market went up 4% over a few months, ultrashort dropped over 50%. Take care.
@halolife100 Well I lost money on the market this week, so probably not that great to talk to :P, I was expecting more and more bad news coming out of Europe and less and less confidence, instead a huge rally happens :S. I had some puts on the SPY which didn't work out that great, but that's why I bought puts rather than shorting the market, I just put in the amount of money I was ready to lose, I knew if the market dropped this week, it would've been borderline crash at least, hence the put.

@halolife100 Not bad, but the market has been growing greatly as well. Also, there's a huge difference between paper trading, and trading with your own, real capital. Commissions have a much greater effect than you'd expect. To give you an example, we had a paper trading simu in one of our university classes. From Feb 2009 to April 2009, I had a return of 48%, while the market (SP500) had a 2% return.
u say that all those books are not important, but u what u dont realize is that everything u do, and all the knowledge u have come from reading those books, and then eventually through experience, you get to where you are now, but those books are important

@smokenfly514 Yes - the SEC requires that you have an account balance with a minimum of $25,000 before you are able to do any day trading. Do a search for "sec day trade account requirements" - I am (of course) not allowed to post a stupid link to a government web site.
@woosterlinks Correct! Then you need to maintain your cash account. Check out the rulings (Rule 2520) in Wikipedia for information. Trading in the U.S has changed since I started I mainly traded out of London and now living back in the states. For me to trade the way I trade here will require my account to have 75k minimum in the account if you want to make serious money and manage your risk. Do not trade with a small account!
@woosterlinks yep but if you trade the emini's we get away from the pattern trader rulings but still have a bloody good size account. I like a large account because I can let a trade run against me a 100 points or so knowing that entries are never right and my account can handle that. I normally get what I want but I rarely get shaken out because of head fakes.

About what stocks to buy etc, there are several blogs you can read of recommendations, you just need to read and read until you have your opinion formed.

@halolife100 I would trade NYSE personally(greater liquidity), although a lot of prop traders do trade NASDAQ, might be because of the smaller liquidity, it allows for them to have an effect on the prices there, very short term of course.
Yes, the T+3 basically stops me from trading intraday, it's very gay, to say the least. You need 25k and margin to day trade. T+3 basically means it takes 3 days for the money to settle from the buying of stocks. Futures and options don't have that restriction

Yeah, I'd like real time updates of the trades you do, how do I follow, twitter or something? Is there a specific reason you're trading NASDAQ ETFs (ProShares) rather than the SDS or NYSE ETFs. IMO the SDS follows the market much better. Also, there's the big movers like FAZ.

@halolife100 Yeah definitely, if you can catch those ultrabears on a downturn you're gonna make some nice moolah, it's what I'm looking to do due to small capital and unavailability of time to trade very much intraday. And you do seem to have a good grasp on the market, if you can keep your mentality the same with real money, however, what amount are you trading with in paper trades, and how much do you have in RL capital you are ready and able to lose. Everyone loses on the market(except GS).

I can't believe people actually listen to people like this idiot. No, day trading is not easy, not everyone can do it. It is one of the most difficult skillsets to master.
Also, this guys is an idiot because according to law you need at least 25k in your account or else your account will be flagged. If you really want to listen to a professional trader (not some dumbass who literally knows nothing).
Don't listen to financial news either haha. Dow knew that the media is always late.

@halolife100 Also, beware of trading any ultra or short ETFs for more than a few days, there's some serious contango in such equities. They are only made to track the underlying security in the intraday, long term, you're almost guaranteed to lose money with them, EVEN if you call the direction right. I remember looking at the historical data. If market went down 2% over a few months, the ultrashort would go up 4%. If market went up 4% over a few months, ultrashort dropped over 50%. Take care.

@halolife100 Well I lost money on the market this week, so probably not that great to talk to :P, I was expecting more and more bad news coming out of Europe and less and less confidence, instead a huge rally happens :S. I had some puts on the SPY which didn't work out that great, but that's why I bought puts rather than shorting the market, I just put in the amount of money I was ready to lose, I knew if the market dropped this week, it would've been borderline crash at least, hence the put.

@halolife100 Not bad, but the market has been growing greatly as well. Also, there's a huge difference between paper trading, and trading with your own, real capital. Commissions have a much greater effect than you'd expect. To give you an example, we had a paper trading simu in one of our university classes. From Feb 2009 to April 2009, I had a return of 48%, while the market (SP500) had a 2% return.

I had to go to the OTCBB side, I found an awesome gem $SAVW they are a new company that makes a product called the ECO-POLE, It's awesome its a street light that has a solar panel, a wind turbine, and a 36 hour battery pack that lights the 300w LED, they have one right in front of the Department of Transportation in Washington D.C.. They are having a ribbon cutting ceremony on the 28th of July and there are going to be alot of Senators and Congressman there check it out

@smokenfly514 Yes - the SEC requires that you have an account balance with a minimum of $25,000 before you are able to do any day trading. Do a search for "sec day trade account requirements" - I am (of course) not allowed to post a stupid link to a government web site.

@woosterlinks Correct! Then you need to maintain your cash account. Check out the rulings (Rule 2520) in Wikipedia for information. Trading in the U.S has changed since I started I mainly traded out of London and now living back in the states. For me to trade the way I trade here will require my account to have 75k minimum in the account if you want to make serious money and manage your risk. Do not trade with a small account!

@woosterlinks yep but if you trade the emini's we get away from the pattern trader rulings but still have a bloody good size account. I like a large account because I can let a trade run against me a 100 points or so knowing that entries are never right and my account can handle that. I normally get what I want but I rarely get shaken out because of head fakes.

Also, stocks are simply "corporate currency" and the corporation can INFLATE their "currency" any time they want. They can PRINT stock, thereby LOWERING the value of your stock, ANY TIME. Think about that. If there were a LIMIT, that would be one thing, but there's not.
So add that together with the fact that it's a zero-sum game where you compete against huge hedge funds, and anyone can see even playing blackjack at the local casino has better odds.

The stock market is a SCAM. Never invest in it. I've never met ANY regular guy who profited from it. But I've met many SUCKERS, even related to me, who lost HUNDREDS of thousands of dollars and STILL think stocks are a good investment because of propaganda.
The fact is it's a ZERO-SUM game like Chess. In order to buy at the RIGHT time, SOMEONE has to SELL at the WRONG time. And the people with the most insider info like Hedge Funds will ALWAYS beat the average guy.

@Cyrus255 Dude... You're being a bit sensational about the drawbacks of stocks. Stocks are not a zero sum game at all, as the companies they represent grow in size due to retained earnings.
Just look at the growth in the major stock indices over the past 50 years (with effect of dividend included) and you'll see that anyone who sensibly invested in a well diversified portfolio of stocks would have done well over the long term.

I myself am looking to day trade but I do not have much to start from when it comes to cash, in your video you stated that the minimal requirement in cash for a day trader to trade is roughly $2000. is there a way to trade in a bracket that is lower than $1500 for those of whom are still in they're early development stages of they're careers and are looking to get a extra boost, or small gain in income?

@abramovalex123 what was ur biggest loss in two hours? what size account? earning 987 with 100,000k risking 1% is not impressive, if you did that with a 10k account risking 1% that would be pretty mind blowing. realistic would be somewhere in the middle. selling a company by putting out some random statistic (that we have no way of checking) on youtube pretty much takes away any credibility you had to begin with.

You may not value trading as "normal" jobs, but because traders help support a market in trading, they are the same people that create markets of economy through buying and selling - which in turn supports the whole market through participation. It supports the US Dollar. Don't you remember when the us recession hit and Bush wanted to increase consumer spending to support the downing market? Same logic.
