  • This band can do no wrong. How on earth did I miss this growing up? Why wasn't this band bigger here in the states???????

  • old grey whistle test, where great bands went to prove they could play and not just mime

  • I'm pretty sure I account for 8000 of these views now...

  • Great band. Saw them many times in the glorious 70s.......I think! As they say - if you can remember them then you weren't there! Must ask the man inside my head:-)

  • @STOKEKNOB i seen them just before he died fucking classic

  • @arsenal2873 Yes he was!!!!!!!!!

  • @STOKEKNOB

Me and my mate were dressing room security for them at Trentham Gardens ballroom. You should know where that is. Unless it's another Stoke ;-) '77 I think. Like you said and I can relate, that's all I can remember. Except for the one thing. Before HE went one stage, while wandering about in TG's little back stage corridors. HE stopped and asked me where the Khazi was. Other than that? It's just a wee bit foggy.

  • @Skenzed Remember TG Ballroom well. Saw many great bands there in the seventies inc. Led Zep (twice) The Who, T.Rex, Rod & Faces, Genesis (supporting Lindisfarne) Hawkwind to name but a few. ahhhh great days...

  • fantastic show, but it annoys me that bands ever mimed on it, and it seemed to happen quite often, you can hear him singing over his studio vocal on this

  • The reason why we who fondly remember Alex Harvey Band and enjoy so much playing this track and NEXT is because we have had our senses dulled by "Rap" and the sh!t reality amateur "shows" like X Factor for the past 20 years. And this is like a huge breath of fresh air! Brilliant!

  • R.I.P. Alex we miss you.

toute ma jeunesse, mon premier boulon,ma première cuite...

The smack got him too ,big time

  • I have a shiver running down my spine this is the most sensational track of all time

  • Aleh Harvey and THE SENSATIONAL ALEX HARVEY BAND (Formerly = Tear Gas from Coatbridge) there is only one word to describe this MAN, this BAND and THEIR MUSIC = SENSATIONAL.

    Rest in Peace, Alex.

  • What a track!... forgot how good this was / is!

  • Yes the Punks were so right weren't they? There was nothing dangerous and exciting until a bunch of kids who couldn't play properly came along in 1976.

    Ha ha, so NOT RIGHT...

  • Alex Harvey R.I.P, Truly The Sensational Alex Harvey Band.

  • the best live band i ever saw

  • AHB; OGWT & Whispering Bob - where did those halcyon days go? The dog's doo-dahs though......

  • utterly stupendous - full of suspense and the big build up with the amazing slashing guitar of zal cleminson - where is he now?

  • @Mrhockles99 He runs a computer business now!

  • utterly stupendous - full of suspense and the big build up with the amazing slashing guitar of zal cleminson - where is he now?

  • Vambo Rool....OK?

  • Definitely a classic album with that timeless quality.....parents hated it then.....and most still do. That in itself makes me smile......

  • "Next" is,.. and always will the greatest album of all time. And I have heard everything.

  • the faith healer

  • Part of me cries that this is all long gone-why did this have to go out of style? But another part of me is eternally grateful that it lives on here on YouTube. They just don't do it like this anymore :(

  • Aaaahhhh!

    :)

  • very cool

  • the Version from "the Bollock Brothers" is a lot of better

  • the smack (that is, heroine, to all you squares) is taking its toll in this video, but he is still one mean scary performer

  • I saw SAHB at the Falkirk Town Hall when I was maybe 16, big hall - hardly anybody there, after slagging Falkirk and really pissed off he gave the best performance I ever witnessed, at one point eating a pair of tights he took off a girl. Him and Cleminson were really scary. At the end, two rows of people in this empty hall were going nuts we must have looked like we were crazy.

  • This was the theme song to Australia's Crazy Disco " The Bruce Melbon Show" opening each night he performed during the 70's.

  • alex what a guy he is the original glesga guy who did us proud , music great and raw what a band all wonderfull musicians god bless the big vambo.

  • incredible. I just discovered TSAHB this week and I feel deprived for the last 20+ years. They should be more well known. I'm from Scotland and I remember someone telling me about them but I grew up when Guns n Roses, AC/DC and WASP were cool so a band with "sensational" in it wasn't going to cut it. My loss. Great band.

  • no.one can touch these for musical content the best band ever ever ever

  • How wonderful this is, simply leaves me sitting open-mouthed.

  • Harvey I always thought Harvey and Bon Scott sounded similar.

  • in 1979 my music !!

  • I like the Helloween version.

  • Nobody touches this stuff now, the band where unique.

  • CRAZY....BRILLIANT....ORIGINAL

  • VAMBO ROOLS IN HOT CITY ,alex one of a kind ,still remember you doing anthem live in the usher hall, the hairs still stand up on the back of my neck when i hear it

  • who are you? where are you?

  • used to watch this guy around london forgoten how f***ing good he was!!

  • The Guy was a God! Of Rock!

  • Back in the day I thought Alex, being forty-odd years old, was a tad out of place, yet nowadays he looks so young - and I feel so old........

  • so you must feel like he felt!! a child that doesn't want to grow

  • so whats wrong with that you boring anus ALEX harvey was fucking awesome, dont try and under mine him,, go to a coldplay gig if you want serious square fag jive

  • @spadge321 me? i try to under mine him? i love ALEX HARVEY!! what are you sayin?

  • @meltedmoonlight alex and his band, were so out there, i saw them 4 or 5 times, no one ever came close to them, they really were unique

  • Zal was a shit hot guitarist !

  • I too saw them so many times in manchester..brilliant especially his toilet tube torch ah ah

  • jethro tull alex harvey kate bush led zepp acdc

  • 2 albums kept me sane in my teenage years,`dark side of the moon` and `next`.i listen now and realise that the tracks such as swampsnake, next, giddy up a ding dong and faith healer were not just teenage rebellion.--vambo rules ok

  • Alex Harvey AND Zal Cleminson in ONE band? Unbeatable!

  • God I've lost count of the number of times we saw them live. Brilliant.

  • Bon scott still

  • I'm speechless!

There are so few bands pruducing such original material.. makes my heart leap with joy for the nostalgia of my youth.

My Mom used to let me stop up to watch the OGWT...as wise woman...

    RIP Alex...

  • I totally agree with your comments.

I myself am a Brummie and find there's nowhere for bands to play anymore.
