Dude, not to be completely rude, but that is NOT what Kirk does to play guitar. He doesn't just use the pentatonic "really fast".. He also uses the ENTIRE fretboard for the solos, as well as using a major/minor scale. Not some five-note arpeggios. Listen to Metallica a bit more, bud.

But don't get carried away I mean maybe you should stick to the basics for a while, I can see this pentatonic stuff is a little difficult for you so maybe just slow it down a little, I think 2 bpm would be a good speed for you to start, then gradually increase the speed, don't worry you'll be like Kirk Hammett in no time. :)

The "C Major Pentatonic" idea refers to the scale he writes in notation at 0:14 in the video. He labels this scale "Pentatonic Scale in E" which it isn't its C major pentatonic (C, D, E, G, A).

You misunderstand me, I know he's playing E Minor Pentatonic in 10th position but that's not what I'm saying.

I'm talking about pentatonic scale shapes not positions.

There are five main shapes or boxes of the pentatonic scale, each beginning on either the root(E), b3(G), 4(A), 5(B) or b7(D) of the scale.

As I've said already, the shape he uses although ending on E is still the shape that starts on the b7 or fifth note of the minor pentatonic scale hence why is said fifth scale shape.
