i "modded" this same excact model with rubber strips cut from old floor mat and it worked off road very well, this power wheel is on its 3rd child! very well made
@jasncab hey brother, ever hear of soap, that get MY hands clean, PLUS I don't look like a tool wearing goofy gloves while pointing at a PW! I mean, it's not tar or acid, it's a ride-on kids toy! Do you have some kind of germ phobia or something? I apologize if that's the case, if it's just a matter of you being a geek, then never mind
you know that you could put rubber tires on that, all you have to do is change it from a gear drive to a chain drive. You could also find a 24v speed controller.
On our first one we installed "spikeless" golf cleats for better traction, the second vehicle we were cheaper and installed hex head screws. Both vehicles get great traction in the yard.
Are we making up for what we didn't have as kids? I have tweaked every one of my sons Powerwheels & the neighbor kids seem to flock over to have a blast right along with him. Even the two seaters cruise fast. Luckily I am in a quiet, pretty safe private community The sheer speed of these 6-12 volt conversions & higher voltage can really haul butt.I have put in smaller wheels, that really makes them wacko and tried all kinds of tricks. As long as the kids are close, safe and having fun more power:)
Try a dimmer switch,I use anything to make these things more enjoyable for my son.I will get some vids posted soon,I wish I did now as his Big Jake truck flies/about 13 mph & it was faster but I couldnt catch him without a bicycle.Have fun my man,we only live once
I think it is good that they learn at an early age. Because when she is 16-18 and driving, she will be much more advanced than other girls her age. As a grampa, I approve!
LOL Dude that freaking awesome. Did you just wire them in series? I wonder what two car batteries would do. Probobly not a good idea though, in case she rolled it over. Still really awesome. I'm gonna do something like this for my nephew.
yes, a good idea to get her to wear a helmet, no differant from riding a bike really. They can crash into other cars etc or flip when they side on a curb, wearing a helmet.....common sense!
yeah put some bolts or duct tape on the back tiers or evin take them off an put go cart or tracter tiers on it the tiers are only on with lock washers so thay should come off with a flat head an go back on by hiting a deep sockit with a hammer to press them back on
yeah that was my thought when i read the reasoning why you'd want to waste all that power on wheels which don't connect well enough so you're just skidding around, not going as fast as you could if they actually were gripping the ground. but to each their own. i just know i'd be really pissed if i was pushing on the gas and getting no accelleration, just a lot of wheel spinning.
As soon as you guys figure out a reasonably priced gearbox for me, let me know ;) It is a plastic childs toy. Have what fun you can with what you have!
"i just know i'd be really pissed if i was pushing on the gas" Hey douche bag, it's a little girl driving a power wheels, I dont think she would be "really pissed" that her back tires aren't hooking up. I think she was having fun, maybe you can convert yours to AWD and stoke the moter the 383 and dump 5 grand in it, and then post your video. Then we can complain that your loosing to much hp in the front drive train, then we can book you some time at the AWD dyno, tune it for maximum hp!
I was saying that I would be pissed with all that power being lost to tires not connecting. I wasn't saying anything about the girl. I'm quite sure the girl is having fun, and were I not the one driving, I'd be laughing at the ridiculous amount of power that thing has! He's put the "power" in "Power Wheels", for sure!
And it's "motor" and "losing". But at least you spelled "douche" correctly. +50 DKP.

Cool. Make a video showing the process! (rubber tires kill gears)
jasncab 2 years ago
Plastic tires on asphalt = quick wear.
You might want to find a way to get some rubber on those things.
SkeeterValentine0 2 years ago
ruins the gearboxes. Check out my other videos. I did just that and the gears lasted about 3 days.
jasncab 2 years ago
you can put a couple of layers of ducttape on the tires, just the right amout of grip without ruining the gearbox

if you have plastic tires you can put thick rubber bands that fit snuggly on the tires to improve tractions, its kind of like having some good years.

remember the good old days when we built gokarts, instead of buying plastic toys made in japan ?

Don't you mean MADE IN CHINA!! SHIT... they don't make cheap as things in Japan no more...

lol you should put a weed whacker engine on it XD
kitekunisaki2000 3 years ago
why not faster.
DamnitzRoger 3 years ago
The gears can barely handle 24V - in fact they couldnt.
jasncab 3 years ago
Well, that is only a problem going from dead stop to full voltage.
puts a hefty load on the gears.
but that can be fixed with a PWM module.
I think I will make one and step up the V to 24 on my daughter's toy.
it is just too weak on 12
The PWM will provide a "ramp up" in power while the unit picks up speed.
so it won't damage the gears or toast the motor.
but have more power and speed.
(electronic gear box)

Yeah Car batteries are not a good idea. Acid and all that...
Check out the website for more detailed information...

@jasncab yeah, my car has a car battery, and there is acid all over the place, probably should buy an AGM at 3x the cost

oh come on! she has to wear a helmet!? she didnt fall did she? lol jk but relly is that neccesary? lol but nice quad :) needs more grip

@robinphillips I personally recommend ALWAYS wearing a helmet - in bed, in the shower, at work, etc. You just can't be too safe,,,,

Traction kills the gears - talk to Fisher Price about it.

man I would put some grip on the tires.

I did once. Check out the website for the video and the quad killed its gears about 2 days later.

use that spray-on bed liner stuff for pickup trucks on the wheels. I bet that would work awesome

It's hard to spell after a hard days drinkin.. you mispelled "fairy" in your name, but I didn't feel obligated to point that out.
johnnybravo1979 4 years ago
why dunt you try adding a more stable and solid gear box then?
007nites 5 years ago
Why dont YOU try and post a video for ME to see ?
jasncab 5 years ago
lol sweeet all it needs is better tires which hav more grip
007nites 5 years ago
Yeah you would think so, but the slip saves the gearboxes. Adding more grip usually results in gears being shredded.
