wait a minute the name of this form in gansu was 请龙拳thats qing long quan
qing is a color between blue and green the color between water and grass
sometimes its hard to translate this as blue dragon fist bc i like green dragon fist better ... my question is which city in gansu is this? it can't be lanzhou..
@Blueslicks321 I just started learning Mandarin last month. I'm happy that you know Mandarin so well but please go easy on me. The site I got it from said green, so I just went with that. I made the correction, thanks for visiting my page. Also, you wrote "Know you Mandarin dude".
@airforceallie also.. being a Beifang Chang Quan (a northern long fist) there is a lot going on here in the form. This is not a wushu (PRC) piguaquan (although depending on the teacher PRC Pigua can be down right kick butT (because PRC Pigua Quan is a combination of several Pigua styles and some coaches take the martial side very seriously. I should explain what the viewer is seeing to avoid any confusion of the validity of this art...
@Blueslicks321 Sorry... being "YouTube" I didn't think you (the owner of this ) would even read my comments. Yes there is a misnomer out there on this CD. Someone wrote in English "the word "Green" when addressing the name of the form and it seems to have stuck. I'm a long time practitioner of Northern Pigua Quan (a style very very similar to the one Sifu Jian Rou Zhou demonstrates here.) Blue dragon form is one of the main roads that one studies... continued
@Blueslicks321 you're 100% right! too bad pigua quan is so rare, it looks like an awesome fighting system even without training in baji on the side. even though the contemporary PRC version is a bit watered down, it still is my #1 most-wanted form... and with a good foundation you can take apart the movements and get good techniques out of it, like most of the modern wushu forms (maybe not the new nanquan though =)
The traditional styles are so beautiful to watch. I'd much prefer to learn a style like this than the more common modern ones that are more readily available at classes
@MajesticAngelX I feel the same way! Plus the traditional styles are better for your body and they teach you the fighting application, so you're not just getting fluff and a pretty looking dance, you're learning the art how it was meant to be learned.
What common modern ones do you guys mean? Like Karate? Or the more MMA styles like Muay Thai? The modern ones have WAY more fighting applications than these form-based ones. The traditional styles are cool BECAUSE it is a dance, and still has some combat application. Against an average to moderately skilled opponent (99.9 percent of everyone) boxing and wrestling are the most important skills. MMA has proved this irrefutably. Not that I'm hatin', I think this is awesome.
@carlrobota He is referring to the modern styles of 'wushu' - performance based kung fu. Unfortunately you are wrong, this is a traditional style in that every movement has application and is not just there to look good, traditional sets were developed to memorise specific fighting moves that are applicable in combat. It is naive to say that modern styles such as MMA or wrestling are better than traditional kung fu. It all comes down to the practitioner.
Oh I just love how Namco gave Xiaoyu piguaquan! It's the perfect style for her! I can't imagine Xiaoyu practicing another style as her main! (I know some of her moves are of other styles)
@seansocheap i agree, and we've seen her used over and over with the same moves so we've gotten used to it too. she also uses baguazhang. i was really angry when they gave another girl who had her same moves!
@airforceallie You Mean Helena From DoA 4 ... I love her she's my favorite and i am a Tekken fan but i dont like to take it very serious and hate other fighting games (aka Fanatics) and Xiao have Tai chi quan/Pi Qua Quan, she uses half and half of those two Styles and Helena Use the whole style of Pi qua quan and Kokoro is Ba Ji Quan same moves as Akira from Virtual Fighter 5 and Leo from Tekken 6.
Silence ignorant one; piglet breath is one of the seven legendary animal breath gongs of ZangZhu mountain quan, inherited by only a handful of martial arts masters and styles, the others being toad, lark, deer, lizard, woman and of course, fish. Learning these special gongs gives pratitioners the ability to withstand all manner of locks, smothers, chokes or throttles. Please show more respect in future.
yeah that would be cool, but pai does some pigua moves with her crane style. also helena from dead or alive uses pigua and so does xiaoyu from tekken, so in my opinin they need to bring out a style that most people haven't seen yet.
Actually, the name of Pai's art literally means "blue swallow" though her art is actually a part from Shaolin kung fu. Yes, Xiaoyu is the first 3D fighter to use pi gua quan, but she uses ba gua zhang as her additional arsenal. As for Helena, I consider her the sole user of pi gua quan. Still, I really wish for Sega-AM 2 to add their own pi gua quan user for the series because bajiquan and pi gua quan are like the yin yang in my opinion.

I just wish Sega AM-2 should had added a pi gua quan fighter in the Virtua Fighter 5's remake since Akira does bajiquan.
