Diesels do take their own time getting to a speed and yes, i think, given a good stretch and a windless day, the XUV might just kiss the 200 mark. Mahindra reports a true top speed of 186km/h, which does translate into 200 with speedometer error :)

I did take the test drive and drive quality is good for the money but not the build quality. I do not want to spend more than 12-14 on a car, I was planning to buy Scorpio and this got launched. I have been driving accent for a while and not so glad in owning a sedan again.
Still the worry lies in build quality and features quality, soon all these "features" provided at low cost will start giving trouble and will add to maintainance.
Looks like I need to stick with another sedan for a while.
What about durability and quality, I liked the features but the rate really makes me feel is it worth (Quality). Also there is a lot of fiber used in front, which is most damage prone area, one would have to sell the cost of replacement of that huge plastic from pocket.
I really want to own it but my brain is fighting off my heart so far.

@onu2be also mahindra customer support is pathetic, for me its ford endaevour or fortuner, look if i be buying suv, i be buying a pure thing, which can actually offroad, this cannot do that...and money is not an issue, driving experience is not good compared to other suv's, designing is also cheaply done in this, after owning this veh problems will start building up, as it is not gently thought on drawing board and u know mahindra quality which is still truck like and not cars

Please note - video taken on a relatively empty stretch of the Mumbai - Pune expressway. Please don't crib - all automotive magazines / websites / channels also test new vehicles in such conditions! We had no option but to choose public roads but made sure the traffic was next to zero during this video :)
@bunnyp1983 - i was looking for a video which showed the max speed of xuv5oo, and i found this video! this is really a very good video which showed the road as well as the speedometer, unlike other max speed vids on youtube which just show the speedometer,........ this is a really good presentation of XUV500s top speed!! :)
@bunnyp1983 - this is one diff ques.......when you were on 190, and suppose if you press the brake hardly to stop the car(on 190kph), what will happen??? with ABS with EBd and ESP....will the car skid or is it safe to brake no matter how the speed is?? i mean is it risky to do that on 190 knowing there is ABS, EBD,ESP etc.
