I have an 09 R1 ans it has a smooth pwerband but the midrange and handling arent as good as the CBR. Both are great bikes, there is no point of arguing over it.
Interesting how most of the pro-Fireblade comments here are automatically hidden due to "Too Many Negative Votes." What I saw in this video was a Fireblade "hoe-dee-hum" keeping up with an R1. I'd be interested in seeing a video of the reverse... ;-)
@odogoss better for what? that is always the question. In terms of racing for an experienced rider, the r1. for an avg rider on the street, likely the FB.
I ride with earplugs so I don't really notice what those new R1's sound like when I pass them. I do like the small size of the new CBR1k 08. All the new bikes are pretty ugly, so I am glad I don't have to look at em when I ride em!!!
Fan boys give it up, any bike can be made better in a certain application, for every $1000 you throw at them.
I have had five 1000cc Yamaha's up to now: a '93 FZR 1000 Genesis, a '96 Thunderace, a 99' R1, a '00 R1 and my actual '06 R1. My friends have always been nagging me about the Honda's since the first CBR 900 came out and I've tried all the 900RR and several 1000RR over the years but none of them felt as comfortable as the first time I sat in my first Yamaha. And the amazing thing is, at least for me, those Yamaha's are so different from one another but they still feel like home in the first ride
hi, i'm currently racing my aprilia rs125...and i want to start racing faster bikes do you think to start racing 1000cc bikes is to bike a leap? thanks.
The R6 is more track orientated. I used to have an 06 and it cornered like a dream, and the slipper clutch is a great thing to have! To each his own though.
They all perform relatively similar to 99.9% of people. The way I have always chosen my bikes is by feel. Certain bikes have always felt akward to me and vice versa. For instance the Ducati 848 is really akward for me because I'm 6'3" and it is just more comfortable for a smaller guy.

sit on one and find out yourself. the honda is way more comfortable. comefort is what it comes down to anyways. if your in an awkward position that you dont like, how are you going to make an aggresive turn?
yea go for it i had 600rr for 4 months and bought 1000rr 2004 as first bike last year and not been a fat head but can drive as quick as it can go on the roads i put up 50,000 kms since last april ave an sp1 now and am 26 i fuckin love bikes der my life nothing comes between them and me but its either in ya or not just remember when your out for a spin wit the lads dont push your limits learn on your own + be comfortable wit your bike and your skill will increase if ya have a passion for bikes
@RhysWon if your happily are racing an rs125, then go for the thou definately, u'll be fine, dont bother with the 600s, ppl who say u'd kill urself are just jealous cos they jumped straight on a big bike n cant ride it themselves.
u guys are fags, music captures the moment sometimes, where engine sounds cant. plus we all kno what a 09 R1 sounds like by now. for the record its awesome!!
Don't we watch these videos to see AND HEAR THE BIKES????? NOT THE MUSIC???? Come on....someone post a good track vid of the Crossplane WITHOUT THE MUSIC!!!!!!
nah, but the back end is ugly dude. need to tidy up the pipes and cans, get rid of all the ugly plastic covers etc. i've got a 2000 R1 but i'd say my favourite models would be 06 or 08 plates. they've still got the features that you know it's an r1 but look sharp and fast even when stood on the stand!
Why...the...crappy...music?...Id rather have Rock you like aHurricane playing in the background (Actually that would be WAY better than these loserz)...Great Vid tho...a regular occurence for mcn
Why does the headline say R1 Vs Fireblade, it looks more like a Yamaha promotional video where they are using the blade to film the r1 pulling wheelies and messing about - This video is pointless and just shows that mcn are being payed by manufacturers to help them sell their bikes
well I guess they just want to let everybody know, that the best track/street bike of 2009 is the R1!!..I think, there is nothing wrong with that!! YAMAHA & DUCATI 4 LIFE!!

LOL!
One of the best engine sound... and they covered it with this shitty song...
Next time use something like Metallica, Ac/dc... or better put the mic near the exhaust!
PedtheFox 2 years ago 3
Guessing its because of the wind noise
OmNomNomFap 2 years ago
When are you guys going to invest in some nice mic's to run rather than dubbing awful music over the sound of these two awesome bikes?

I know right?

That R1 is "One Ugly Mother F----R" The blade all the way and i've owned 2 R1's a 99 and a 2003!

ps. i think the blade rider takes cleaner lines
