In the movie the Confederate officer's gun does not go off.

In real life, the Confederate officer missed. He later stated that he aimed at the Union Commander's [Chamberlain] large nose and fired from less than 20 feet away, but he just plain missed.

At least the movie did a little bit to give the Confederate officer a bit more credit.

no no. He was almost shot in the head by an officer in the 15th Alabama BUT the officer's gun either jammed and/or ran out of ammo.

@aceofhicks He had two incidents in the Gettysburg movie, one where he held a sabre up to a Confederate who readied his hand to shoot him but didn't, then earlier he was saved by a few volunteers who moved down a Confederate who almost shot him.

You know they are making an "Age of rebellion" mod where they convert the various units of the game to Civil War soldiers. I saw some screen shots of it. They have Berdan's sharpshooters, Iron Brigade and even a slave unit to replace the villager.
