My only criticism of Mariah is that there is too much polishing on her later stuff. I prefer her early stuff that sounds much rawer! In fact I prefer the un-dubbed examples you give! She is a true talent - one of the all time greats though!

Come on! I love the original one. It's sounds more life. It's not dubbed you know. It's just mixed in the studio to have more of a constant sound. When you singing life, your microphone doesn't allow you to really control the dynamic. When you shout or belt, you have to put the microphone further away, otherwise it will be too loud and crack. But then it'll lack of volume. It happen to each singer. They then process to mix the volume in the studio. To make it more even.
@Bluezaphire2402 yes of course...but on each mike of singer there is a compressor and a limitor to avoid the kind of thing! in fact i think that she has recorded a lead before, just for the occasion ...and the sound ingenior do a mix of the main voice recorded and the real sing....when her notes are not good enough, he puts up the gain of the volume of the recorded voice and puts down the real voice!

I prefer the live performances, she didn't fail. You try to sing in front of thousands people.. let me know if your voice comes out easily. It's easy to speak when you're home. Put me in front of 20 people and I couldn't even speak so no wonder her voice got a little bit lower and less convinced than studio version. She's human, she feels emotions, it's hard to go out and performance, too easy to judge.

I prefer the live performances, she didn't fail. You try to sing in front of thousands people.. let me know if your voice comes out easily. It's easy to speak when you're home. Put me in front of 20 people and I couldn't even speak so no wonder her voice got a little bit lower and less convinced than studio version. She's human, she feels emotions, it's hard to go out and performance, too easy to judge.

Lots of people have their videos dubbed, or are forced to mime to their own voices and they don't have any say over it.
If a studio doesn't have the capabilities for live music to be performed, artists either cancel their appearances and lose out on the chance to promote themselves or just suck it up and put up with dealing with studio limitations.
Don't pick on Mariah for what many people do!

I fail to see what it was you were trying to prove her. If anything, the clarity may have been clearer than the "undubbed" versions but there wasn't much of a difference between the notes...barely a difference. Plus, when you record live, different equipment is used to help isolate the vocals and instrumentation otherwise we get the "hissing" noise like the so called "undubbed" versions of these performances have. It's not rocket scientist.
