@random19911004 I believe that arts students have an enourmous potential with mathematics. Both operate with imagination, creativity and visualization. For many reasons, they didn't learned basic math and then, couldn't keep learning. That's what I think.
What arrogant nonsense I'm seeing posted here. *This* audience is interested in learning something about math. Anyone who has the slightest interest in math and science deserves the opportunity to do so. Fortunately, with the top notch public course material coming out of MIT and Stanford, the opportunities are there. Some of the very best math courses are now coming from less famous institutions like U of M Kansas City. And that is wonderful.

I have been trying for about 2 years now to get a meeting with some mathematicians or some geniuses without success. Many of these people are letting down the children.
I love these lectures on youtube from all the universities etc. But for some reason many has problems on them that i find very easy to get distracted from. This lecture has some wierd bending the screen sort of thing i felt was very annoying. And other lectures has bad sound, and some bad video and sound etc. Why arent universities trying to get some quality instead of quantities on their lectures. Id rather have few but perfect, than many and poor quality. Ok i will have it all, but still.
@mathesssful Yeah we need them to come out of their closets. We need them more than ever. Someone need to socialize perelman spesially to get into the world scene.

Now that's arrogant, bourgeois and the result of a brainwashed American POV.
And I am not a communist by a long shot. But when the doctors become business oriented they start to cut corners sooner or later. LIKE NOW! I can't text argue the point. You can go kiss their ass.(its roses for you anyhow) I'll live amongst the alternative team players who argue points on a more realistic level.
Stupid medallion around his shoulders. The height of intellectual show-off. I take Feynman's point of view. Its rotten, it excludes by default. And its accepted arrogance amongst that ilk. That stuff should be done in private. It pushes the ladder away from the wall for those who are trying to sample the science.
Yeah. And all those football players with superbowl rings too. It's not like fame, money, and prizes ever inspired anyone to be better than they were and try harder to achieve something in life.
@rkyeun LOL you are just like him. I hope someday you'll see how meaningless that is. Let me ask you something? Do you believe the Pope is more than a mere man? Do you believe his wardrobe adds divine reverence to his presence? you'll prob say "no" here, but I bet if observed from a distance you are memorized! Just like a superbowl ring. (When will we ever learn?)
I don't think the gold medal for uncovering truth awarded by the international community quite compares to a condom-shaped hat for mass lying awarded by pedophiles, but I suppose in the same sense I'm awed by the Pope's ability to deceive as much as a sports player's ability to perform or a scientist's ability to discover.
@rkyeun So do you believe that showing off that award ceremony adds anything other that reinforcing their seemingly superior position in thought? It doesn't add anything but an ego separation in status. And its just as reinforcing for the awarder's as the awardee's. (Feynman resigned from such committees) Like I said, I take Feynman's POV 100%. And...this should be done IN PRIVATE at best. Its propaganda. it has no place in nature's truths.
Make it the safest and most reliable of all the developed world? So much so that people can have surgery pretty much just for fun to make minor alterations to their bodies?
I love mathematics, yet I don't know if I'll ever grasp hardcore mathematics, I hope so tough!

Why are you trying to teach university mathematicians to arts students?
Most arts students are hopeless at maths and science, thats why they do arts!
