everything's been written by the best posters that can be written on this track except for its the best damn jazz funk instrumental version!! Will always remember shaking Mr. McDuff's hand at the Jazz cafe NW1.
Brilliant B-3.... (the Eleanor Rigby riff was slick!) Back in the mid-80's I did a great public radio show on Friday nights. It was called The Supper Club, and I always opened with a tune from Brother Jack McDuff. Thanks for posting this excellent tune!
Jazz organ is such a beautiful thing in the hands of a truly gifted artist! essrs,J.Smith,J.Hammond,C.Ear land.R."G".Holmes,J.McGriff INDEED! These people walked and breathed amongst us. I had the pleasure of seeing Jimmy Smith live at Concerts By The Sea in Redondo Beach. Never saw Brother Jack, but had several of his albums (gone, sad to say). He's a wonder!
Nice little insert of Eleanor Rigby in the organ solo. It fits so perfectly I wish he had used a little more of it before continuing to improvise. Sweet!
Grant Green's version of this track is superb and is worth listening to, you'll love it.What can i say about Brother Jack McDuff? accept to seat him firmly in the pantheon of Jazz Organ Greats, such as Messrs,J.Smith,J.Hammond,C.Earland.R."G".Holmes,J.McGriff and many more unsung heroes Jazz Organ who played untill ther last breath.WE HUMBLY SALUTE YOU ALL.
Good stuff! Anyone know who takes the flute solo? At first I thought it might be Bobbi Humphrey but after listening to the whole solo, I tend to think it's someone else.
Never heard of Jack McDuff.... Sweet!

I like McDuff's organ playing (or I used to), but this is an extremely cheesy version Bill Withers' original.
Sorry :)

very good cover of the original with a stuning real HAMMOND B3 sound, nothing more, it's perfect.
