  • Never heard of Jack McDuff.... Sweet!

  • found a home in minneapolis and played small clubs around town until his death, amazing talent

  • brillante combinación de sonidos!!!! esto si es musicaaaaaa!!!

  • everything's been written by the best posters that can be written on this track except for its the best damn jazz funk instrumental version!! Will always remember shaking Mr. McDuff's hand at the Jazz cafe NW1.

  • This is from the album The Heatin' System....Don Myrick on flute;

    Marty Roberts guitar; Phil Upchurch bass: Greg Williams drums;

    Derf Reklaw congas: Bobby Alston trumpet; Dave Young Tenor sax;

  • Jack McDuff is one of the most under rated unspoken jazz legends. love every track this guy made. Your are a true star brother j.

  • :-)

  • I like McDuff's organ playing (or I used to), but this is an extremely cheesy version Bill Withers' original.

    Sorry :)

  • very good cover of the original with a stuning real HAMMOND B3 sound, nothing more, it's perfect.

  • The sound of that bass alone is music to my ears. So Vintage!!

  • Brilliant B-3.... (the Eleanor Rigby riff was slick!) Back in the mid-80's I did a great public radio show on Friday nights. It was called The Supper Club, and I always opened with a tune from Brother Jack McDuff. Thanks for posting this excellent tune!

  • Love this organ. Just <3

  • This is the most awesome thing to play when ur high =)

  • Jazz organ is such a beautiful thing in the hands of a truly gifted artist! essrs,J.Smith,J.Hammond,C.Ear land.R."G".Holmes,J.McGriff INDEED! These people walked and breathed amongst us. I had the pleasure of seeing Jimmy Smith live at Concerts By The Sea in Redondo Beach. Never saw Brother Jack, but had several of his albums (gone, sad to say). He's a wonder!

  • Don't forget other greats on the organ like Don Patterson,Trudy Pitts,and

    Rhoda Scott.

  • actualy, the guitarist on this track is my friends dad-his name is Martin Rosenberger.

  • I shot that pix in Sestri Levante. I known him in person during an organ stage at Black Studio, in Genova (Italy). Great Jack, great concert.

  • the greatest!

    thanks for posting!!!!!!!

  • Nice little insert of Eleanor Rigby in the organ solo. It fits so perfectly I wish he had used a little more of it before continuing to improvise. Sweet!

  • Total command of the B3.

  • Grant Green's version of this track is superb and is worth listening to, you'll love it.What can i say about Brother Jack McDuff? accept to seat him firmly in the pantheon of Jazz Organ Greats,such as Messrs,J.Smith,J.Hammond,C.Earland.R."G".Holmes,J.McGriff and many more unsung heroes Jazz Organ who played untill ther last breath.WE HUMBLY SALUTE YOU ALL.

  • Good stuff! Anyone know who takes the flute solo? At first I thought it might be Bobbi Humphrey but after listening to the whole solo, I tend to think it's someone else.

  • incrediblecHiller...I like the icon or avatar that you have. Clever.

  • thanks man. i started using it for songs i found no matching pictures for. (see manzel - space funk) makes a good avatar, too...

  • Did Bill Withers write this? I love thsat version as well as the very up beat version by Sivuca. Wicked!

  • if i'm not mistaken, he did. and we just have to give him big credit for that, great song...

  • @owtherdrove no, it was written by bill withers, a extraordinary musician....look up some stuff of him
