like a2's and stuff like that where you leave the last B and E string open while you play the chords

he plays an inversion of a C#m aswell

He's playing the song in E i believe its just he is playing a variation of A and E and he also has a E/G#. The way you play the E he does (And the way I do it) is to put your pointer finger on the A string second fret, Middle Finger on the D string second fret and your pinky finger on the G string 4th fret. Thats the E. Then lift off your pointer finger for A. Simple as that :) Let me know if thats right. I tried to say that visiualiizing a guitar in my head :P

Some of the best Christian songs there ever have been were from the 70's... very poetic. And I say this when I wasn't even born yet then. Some good worship now, but some really poignant, strong stuff back then. My dad used to sing this; he still has it written out in a songbook along with others. I love his old vinyls.
