and if its an automatic you dont need a bov either...only reason you would need one is if the wastegate was too small, in that case you would get boost creep

boost has nothing to do with the bpv/bov. all turbo charged gas engines have a bpv, auto or not. Its purpose is to prevent compressor surge and reduce wear on the engine.

and bovs do get used to bleed off excess boost in high power instances, most stock waste gates cant divert enough exhaust, and boost creeps up eventually causing engine failure..

a bpv has nothing to do with boost. its a vacuum-actuated valve designed to release pressure in the intake system of a turbocharged car when the throttle is lifted or closed. This air pressure is re-circulated back into the non-pressurized end of the intake (before the turbo) but after the mass airflow sensor. its not gonna increase hp or give lots of boost. it only works when the throttle body is opened where the turbine spins and creates boost.
