the picture at 1:02 and at 1:11 is not of a american or uk woolworths it is of a woolworths store in Australia and the trailiers the use, they have no realation to the uk or american woolworths.
what the hell? woolworths is the one of the 2 biggest grocery retailers in australia.. i thought woolworths originated in england, how come its closed down there? strange.. ps, is it because of american companies, cause they bought out arnotts and own vegimite, which is why it is now more expensive then gold laced cocaine.. and now damn it, they have bought good old cadbury off the poms.. already the portion sizes are decreasing, i hope they dont fuck the wonderful glass and a half flavour too!
@stretchrandom - The Woolworths in Australia wasn't related to the Woolworths in the UK. The Australian stores were grocery retailers, the Woolworths in UK weren't. Actually the UK Woolworths started from an American company of the same name, but we then separated from the American store when a UK company bought out Woolworths. The American Woolworths closed 10 years before the British Woolworths did. ;)
@sbrocksman - Here in the US. I remember Woolworths and they been around for quite a while. They had a lunch counter near the front where you could get sandwiches, hot dogs, fries, pies, etc.I used to love that place. They went under from heavy competition from other major retail chains here in the US. Especially from Walmart which was dominating the retail business with lower prices along with the rise of Dollar stores which are now a big as Woolworths used to be.
@VirgilB01 I used to love the Old Woolworths in chicago here too.We used to shop[ n eat there when i was a teen n the cafateria had great foof.I miss it so much, had many fun times there.Glad someone else misses it too.
I miss Woolworths. We had a giant one in Downtown Boston MA, it had three floors, a snack bar, a restaurant in the basement. You could find some great bargains. Sometimes I would just browse to see what they got for new merchandise. It was always crowded especially at lunch break.
Yeah, the UK had a Safeway before being sold on to Morrisons and other supermarkets, Tesco bought many of the Safeway petrol stations, thanks for your comment.
The banks have been instrumental in creating the mess the country is in. Strange that they all get bailed out for their greed. Then when a business like Woolworth is in trouble, they don't want to know and simply pull the plug.
FAREWELL, and when forth I through the Golden Gates to Golden Isles Steer without smiling, through the sea of smiles, Isle upon isle, in the seas of the south, Isle upon island, sea upon sea, Why should I sail, why should the breeze? I have been young, and I have counted friends. A hopeless sail I spread, too late, too late. Why should I from isle to isle Sail, a hopeless sailor? Robert Louis Stevenson Farewell Woolies :(

The till lady probably wanted you to buy it so she could get her wages, the manager is more likely to get his wages than her.

that's a matter of debate, the uk chain grew out of the us chain, of which the aus chain was named after, so technically that is a connection.
