  • Oh yeeessssssssss !! Damn good !

  • This is... well... SICK!

  • excellent vidéo

  • How do I buy this song!!! I must have it, but can't find it

  • This is the man for the Buddy Rich tribute concert....

  • WOW, What a Venue!

  • New James Bond theme?

  • whorshippppin'!!!!

  • totallyy cool! dig this sound. there's a big band in L.A. that does rock & jazz. they got it down. ck them out.

    search

    nutty press video

  • "Sound recorded by Donald Lang and mixed by GH"

    thank them right now.

  • does somebody know how to do that fill at 4:50?

  • @FEDERHYTME It's all in triplets/Sextuplets, and I think the sticking is RLRRL RLRRL, etc... It's a sticking he uses A LOT!

  • @CameronADD yeah, that's right... this is the right sticking...

that's not difficult, but the way it sound , it's amazing!

    R L R R L R L R R L F R L R R L F R L R R L F R L R R etc...

  • @FEDERHYTME No clue, but it's one of my favorite GH fills.

  • on the seventh day god rested and Gavin Harrison took over

  • Only the last five minutes of this video are good. The rest sucks.

  • It is true percussion masters plus. Not only does he play he writes, transcribes and writes books and records dvd's to help us ailing drummers. All of this is extremely hard to do on all levels. Thanks to Gavin everything is illuminated.

  • yea, when I first pocupine tree back in the early 2k's i liked the awesome music but had to ask w.d.f. is this true percussionist master?

  • 8 Dislikes... the whole brass section because their chops were tired and none of them got solos.

  • Welcome to the Church of Gavinism

  • 8 dislikes from Joey Jordison fans lol

  • mine too..awesome!!

  • This is futile...for jazz band? omg. my mind...is blown.

  • What jazz band recorded this? Would they mind recording every metal song ever?

  • What jazz band recorded this? Could

  • The regular version of this song is not enough anymore.

  • Sounds like the group Chicago a little bit. Gavin can play anything...

  • 8 Dislikes???

  • seems so easy the way he plays

  • sometimes i wish i cud eat people for their ability and knowledge. when i learn how, look out sir gavin harrison

  • I am changed me religion to progresive Gavinism

  • I am inspired on this super stilish drummer.

    .

  • Cool →but nothing beats the original..! ♦

  • This sure looks like an arrangement from Monty Python...I mean what the hell is the point of this??

  • @EastVan71 the point is to enjoy one of the finest drummers out there dickwad

  • @Kingding6 My point was, you abortion survivor, was why he was in a church. See the fools in the pews? Don't they just look so enthusiastic? I'm a huge GH fan, and I found this gig an absolute joke. Now go wipe my cum off of your chin, it's disgusting...

  • @EastVan71 got an issue with churches or something?

  • @Kingding6 As a matter of fact, I do, is that OK with you?

  • @EastVan71 Yes, yes it is. I just don't know why you got yourself all frazzled when you saw he was playing in a church?

  • @EastVan71 It's in a church because it's a drum clinic in a small town and it's clearly the only place that had the space he needs you complete fucking moron sort yourself out

  • i was theerrreeee :')

  • Anyone know where i could find the score for this?

  • This Is So PERFECT !

  • what is that godly snare in this video

  • Comment removed

  • HOLY CHRIST!!!!!!

  • Porcupine Tree = my favorite band for over 7 years, but I don't get Gavin being god, its sounds real good to me, but as I said porcupine tree is my favorite so they must be even better than my favorite band and i just can't hear it @ptreeoffical

  • Jazz Metal. Or Jazz Prog Rock.

    Love it!

  • Is that even human?

  • @father042 No

  • OK. Now let's get Gavin with some top jazz recoding artists. I love to hear that.

  • I think he's a robot.

  • 10 bucks says he was listening to Britney on his ipod.

  • oh my this is so awesome

  • Laurence Cottle did a master class at my Uni, although an insane amount of be-bop it was pretty awesome. I've been nagging for a PT masterclass ever since.

  • love this dude! Drumming is not about how much noise you can make with the kit,; its about finesse.

Way too many A-holes posting their own vids of themselves beating the sh*t out their set don't get it.

  • i shit myself just thinking about playing 3:24 D:

  • I was sitting at the top right next to the camera! Such an incredible performance. Definitely one of the best drummers/musicians around. I'm just not a huge fan of the music he plays along to..

  • @jaipatel3212 The big band music or PT?

  • @PennyDreadful1 Well the songs he plays on in general like the 0-5 Rick stuff and big band. PT are alright, a lot more listen able but i still don't really like it!

  • @jaipatel3212 It's definitely very different to say the least, much more psychedelic/proggy to say the least.

  • What an amazing arrangement, seriously took me by surprise. :) Now i want to try to do an arrangement like this

  • what a performance and composition by Gavin...all these "Superstars" like J. Bieber and these stupid stuff looks so pitiful in comparison with these musician...guys and bands like him should play on worlds' biggest stages!

  • I was at this gig! It was absolutely mind blowing. Took me a while to realise what the song was at first as he didn't announce it before he started. He's such a treasure trove of musical knowledge.

  • @Zenerdi

i believe this would happen O.o --> *head explodes and gavin plays the drums on their skull fragments*

  • This is freaking killer!

  • circus...

  • This is just a layer cake of awesome with a raspberry filling between each layer.

  • This is amazing.

  • this guy plays everything :D

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!

  • OH MY FUCKING GOD! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • Self masturbatory percussionist. Embarrassing load of w**k. Stop faffing about a play a f**kin tune.

  • @opiumforthemasses1 Amazing drummer with amazing restraint. "Faffing off"? Nah! Just having a bit of fun. Check out the Porcupine Tree version to see that above restraint.

  • @opiumforthemasses1 Try "19 Days". Embarrassing? He's the most technically advanced, well-timed, creative, and MUSICAL drummer there is. Come on now, let's not be silly. Harrison is a godsend and should be the idol of any drummer - jazz, metal, etc., regardless - he's bloody brilliant. He's adding all kinds of technical flourishes here because it was meant as a showcase, the Porcupine Tree version shows far greater restraint. Trust me mate, give his other work a look.

  • @GavHarrison2112 Gavin is awesome.....Neil is better.

  • @nodrush80 neither is better...they are both techincally very proficient but their styles are quite different.we'll never know who;s better cos Gavin wont ever cover a Rush song and Neil will never cover a PT song. Now if you are talking bout someone like Travis Barker vs these two...no comparison as to who;s better! :)

  • @toolfan92 Right on the money with" both technically proficient, but I find the Neil is more imaginative and inventive as a soloist than Gavin. Would never criticize Gavin or PT( big fan), Just a much bigger fan of Rush. I don't know why travis is even mentioned in the same company as these two....he's not even a "good" drummer.

  • @nodrush80 To each his own i guess . I've always preferred Gavin's style of drumming to Neil's, but i respect both's talents.

  • @toolfan92 Can't argue with you there.

  • @opiumforthemasses1 thats like saying pele needs to stop faffing about. Or Gretzky neds to stop faffing about. Or Jordan needs to stop faffing about.

  • 421s are great

  • Needs Richard Cheese on vocals.

  • che classe!!!!!!!

  • 4:12 i love when he do these fills

  • damn't i hope they release the music for this in some form so it can be played as a district jazz piece for high school players then again there's no drummer that could possibly play this as good as gavin

  • @drumming365 Yeah man, I really want to get the audio file of this, so I can play this for my final exam here at my University.

  • Wha...

True master class. Clocked the bc2 in the background too :) will i play like mr harrison if i own one? Errr, no

  • CRAZY!!! I hate this guy, or.... no, i love this guy :P

  • Jazz like that i love.

  • Nice..........

  • amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow!

  • Such a worldclass musician!! He has such a well rounded knowledge of music and drums in all different styles! Fantastic arrangement!

  • The living definition of BAD ASS!

  • i cant even play this song in its original version. and he here just swinging away.......

  • Lol, now I know why I always wanted a Macbook pro. :P

  • Gavin Harrison = GOD. Which explains why he's in a church.

  • 5 People are atheists of music...

  • Love this version of the song!

  • i see he use's piccolo snare!!!! hehehehe.....

  • seems a little sterile watching a drummer in a church play along to tape.

  • this is purely awesome in every way.

  • Hey Donald, you did a great Job with the Sound! Catch you soon I hope.

  • How could FOUR ass munches NOT like this?

  • That was Gavin on sedatives. The drumming fit the music, but Gavin usually wows much more that he did here. His drumming was great, but he's set the bar so high that anything below it seems like mediocrity. He's a drumming genius, no doubt.

  • That looks like a church. If Gavin were to play at mine, i would go to church every sunday!

  • the arrangement is kickass...

    the drumming is kick ass...

    whats everyones problem -.-

  • Any chance of a high quality recorded version of this? :) Bonus track on next release or something? :)

  • Love the drumming, not a fan of the rest of it.

  • well i still prefer the acoustic version he played with PT at Radio City MH.

  • HOLY SH&%/ HARRISON RULES!!!!

  • nice

  • is this place a cathedral? or what?

  • @grosssover "Filmed at a drum clinic in Chesham UK."

  • @DietaDerMieta ok.. tnx but this place looks like cathedral im i wrong?

  • @grosssover yea you'r right, but to bce honest don't know, what a "drum clinic" is... xD

  • @DietaDerMieta i ask something else... is this cathedral?/? i know that this is drum clinic!!!

  • @grosssover Looks definitely like one.

  • This transfers quite brilliantly.

  • fuck my life

  • What a quality! Equalization and the masterpiece both are awesome!

  • Wow

  • This is superb! Gavin is one of England's greatest exports!

  • Freaking Gavin, love you man

  • deluxe²

  • I love his drumming, it is just so tasteful and precise. Love it.

  • He is good drummer, but not good Jazz-man. I like him really much, but there are much more better jazz drummers than Harrison.

  • @Mentoelify Drumming isn't a competition, so don't be a douche. Gavin Harrison is a brilliant jazz player. Considering this song is a porcupine tree song gone jazz/fusion/big band, I thought he melded it together beautifully.

  • Gavin is a world's best drummer! Very powerful in his groove and precision. Awesome!

  • It would fit perfectly into Cowboy Bebop!!

  • Everyone who makes a comment loves this guy!

  • Gavin is da Federer of the drums; perfect playing, awesome groove and sympatic guy!

  • Would love an mp3 of this version

  • New genre == Prog Swing 'kin awesome :D

  • gavin=god

  • Two people have a bad taste on music :p

  • what? 2 dislikes, grrr, how stupid.....

  • Holy crap.

  • Toca perfecto, así de simple....

  • MY GOD! THIS IS PERFECTLY INSANE!

  • I wish Gavin could clone himself so he could also be in my band. :)

  • WHAT THE HELL?!?!?! THIS IS GODLY ! I wonder who did the arrangment

  • Isn't there an HD version.. I don't find this Harrison worthy..

  • Wish I could play the drums like that.

  • @Fluclear Well who doesn't!!?!

  • Wow, I can't believe that Futile could work as something else, but amazingly enough, here's evidence that it can. I don't even feel the need to mention that Gavin's drumming was awesome; when isn't it?

  • Is Gavin's drumming good in this? I can't tell, I'm too busy giggling with joy at the idea of a big-band PT song.

  • Next week: Meshuggahs' Bleed, Big Band's version :D

  • @intestinomedicino I would pay a lot of money to hear that.

  • @intestinomedicino Imagine the poor fuckers playing the brass instruments when they see the charts for the song.

  • @Zenerdi Yeah probably they would be like, "FML can't get this sh*t right."

  • @intestinomedicino watch?v=XuYxuE93-PA&feature=related

  • groovy baby! swinging!

  • I say: WTF? :D

    Gavin says: Problem?

  • Holy crap that was awesome!

  • my biggest influence!!!

  • wow!

  • ...speechless...

  • @pho3nixmatt same here...

  • 3:16 .. I come in my pants ...

  • @athalized428 YES. polyrhythmic master. reminds me of danny carey

  • Gavin rules, I play the drums myself in a band, but this man is so accurate in his playing. It all seems so simple when you see him play. Great arangement by the way of this great Porcupine Tree song....

  • Haahaha, nice one Gave!

Having played in jazz bands for years and also coming from a rockier/metal background, it's so interesting to see how you've incorporated YOUR style and sound into a genre which could be argued is near enough the opposite of metal. The last couple of minutes are awesome!

  • his touch is simply unique!

  • geil!

  • INCREDIBLE
