  • if you don t put immoral things in music or idolize someone or something , music isn't haram , but some Muslim scholars says that stringed music is haram

  • In that world of shine Yusuf rules by day...

  • I could have sworn I read somewhere, that he had to give up playing music, and just stick to vocals alone due to some islamic teaching. Can anyone clear this up for me?

  • ay you lot, stop it ! just enjoy the music in the spirit he meant it, appreciate the person, what he believes as long as it is not destructive is ok, why get all offended, for what !

  • Thank you for your comments, I think it's a lot like Bob Dylan.

  • @fmarcum I agree with you... it's like "Masters Of War", I think.

  • real cat stevens fans lisen to yusuf too...great story of him...so humanbeeing

    nice song

  • Well even if he is Yusuf, its still somewhat cat stevens. His new music sounds like his old stuff before the conversion to islam. His religious beliefs vs his music is two different things, and i think his music should be appreciated for being his music.

  • @NattHrafn all his sentence now are the rules of islam if you're muslim you would know .

  • unbelieveable music and lyrics it just seems to fit so well, big fan, big fan.

  • We have to also keep in mind that Joseph is origanally a Hebrew name which is pronounced "Yosef" with a "y", and the Arabic has fostered the very same pronouncitation in the Holy Qur'an.

  • Love your music

  • It really is truly beautiful music.

    Asalam Alaykum my friend!

    Paul

  • yeah i can dig that

  • thats the kind of thing both the old Cat and the new Yusuf would say. I say right on brother!

  • If Shakespear were still alive he would say,"A Cat by anyother name is still a Cat!" This has the flavor of the old Cat Stevens. Great to have him back. I was very angry at him for walking away. I wrote a verse about him and John Lennon. It went, " Satan silenced the Walrus (John) the Karan killed the Cat the wheels fell off the Peace Train & the #9 Dream was just that." Peace out!

  • Its very reminiscent of bod dylan dont ya think?

  • lol !

  • Oh, I like that, despite respect for Cat's choice to transform into Yusuf and work for the faith he believes in. I'm just a lover of poetry as well. X3

  • @fmarcum i'm sure if i 'm Yusuf i want like you're words rioght here about quoran ,but maybe Yusuf he is muslim better than me ,will accept you ,with all your hate to an other faith of some other peopel like you. may god bless .

  • he dedicates a whole song to shamsia

  • also a certain resemblence to "Masters of War" by Bob Dylan - but whatever - this is an awesomely beautiful song! Very moving!

  • the pure honesty of his music is something I strive for when I write

  • This is how i remember the old cat stevens. I choose to look away from his islam conversion and focus on his music work.

  • lennon's song is a tiny bit like it-but a major difference is lennon's song is full of anger and is a bit crude but yusuf''s song is sad and gentle

  • Sounds a lot like Lennon's Working Class Hero

  • cat roks on
