Not just for ship upgrades and long, story-driven playthrough, but also for the loads of secrets it has.

Unfortunately I can never get it to run correctly; it keeps running at a nerfed speed with absolutely no sound.

What's yer favorite sidekick, by the way? You say you like the Single Shot Option, but I always liked the Plasma Storm, which you get later in the game. Can't go wrong with a weapon that just punches through any enemy's invulnerable spots, and that goes right through walls in a GIANT CLOUD.

May I advise you to pick up the Plasma Storm sidekick later in the game if that's not already your plan? I LOVE how that thing punches right through ANY enemy's armor/wall/what-have-you.

Yeah, Tyrian's a bit difficult. Yesterday I charged through the first episode, and then episode two was all "hey, let's be really unreasonably hard even on a regular new game!".  I really gotta go back and replay to get the awesome shield you've got otherwise I don't think I can beat the first level.

I'd say that one BONUS level in chapter 3 or 4 (I forget precisely) is harder. The one where invincible bubbles come up on the left and right side and behind them ships swarm up and fire green waves of death? Plus everything else that level does to you.
