@brendanspurious666 thats diffrent it means it processes data to your router at that speed which determines how fast your internet goes so i reckon you have 10mbs which is the average package at virgin then you get 20mb then 50mb, 50 downloads a 700mb movie in around 5-10 minutes yours at around 1-3 hours which is average

lol "perfect for gamers". All my friends on Virgin 20/50Mb have much higher pings to servers/other games than i do (sometimes double or triple), and they live close by. Raw speed doesn't mean much for gamers.

And i pull host more on XBL with a slightly slower, but better quality connection.

What a fucking egg head, you dont need a 50mb connection to download images. Or to redesign a website. To even bother with those speeds is if your a gamer or have a family of 5 who all want to be on the net at the same time. AND still get decent speeds while they are all watching the same video on Youtube.

I cant see how virgin will pull this one off this 50mb connection will be capped big time and i would be very surprised if you get any where close to that kind of speed.Virgins head ends or hub sites as they call them are all piggy banked of (B.T) fibre network all the switch systems equipment are all maintained by (b.t).

Virgin will easily pull it off, and there are no download caps on the 50mb service, I am currently on 20mb and always receive a constant speed of 18-19mb

B.T recentlet reported virgin for miss quoting speeds to ofcom as thats exactley what they are doing,the so called 50 mb isnt actually out as yet and what they will tell you is its a trial and may not be in ure area.B.T know exactley what virgin can supply as B.T control and maintian there head ends or hub sites.All 20mb connection are capped between 16:00 pm and 21:00pm if you google it its there in black and white run some speed tests.

It has been trialled for over a year with only selected customers and now it has officially launched and you can put your postcode into their website which will tell you whether it has been rolled-out in your area yet, which all will be done by summer. And not all connections are capped, only people who download over 3GB of data between 4pm and 9pm will be capped for 5 hours. They also have it in the daytime between 10am and 3pm but you can download twice as much in this time before being capped
