  • its out of place for me to comment on something like this but i appreciate those good times back in the 1960's. i didnt live in that time so i didnt experence the 60's. i just see it as simple fun time. no computers, no obama silver and gold based money that was worth somthing lol. are country was going very well. Fun had a different meaning back then...

  • boy scouts of colorado are the best 286 ROCKS

  • Looks like the Tennessee Capitol in Nashville at the start. Is that correct?

I was part of the troop from Knoxville and I believe we stopped there on the way, I recall staying on an army base at maybe Clarksville and then going to St Louis and then to a base in Kansas. Were you part of the Knoxville Troop?

  • @aurabass

I WAS WITH A GROUP FROM THE ST. LOUIS AREA.

  • @aurabass

THE START OF THE VIDEO WAS FROM DENVER, CO.

  • I believe that the dark green uniform was worn by members of the Explorer Posts. The lighter green --similar to the military's Olive Drab-- was for the Boy Scouts proper.

  • @BoyScout1960 This is absolutely correct.

  • Great video, came across it quite by accident. I started my Scouting in England in the 70's, so not quite old enough to remember this event, but I have a quick question: What's the significance of the two distinct uniform colours? The darker one looks like the green we wore in England and the lighter one looks like the khaki we now wear here in Canada. No biggie, just interested. Thanks again, it was great fun watching the clip.

  • My son is at the 2010 Jamboree right now. He and his friends will enjoy watching this video.

  • Thanks for posting this fine memory of my 12-year-old days at the 1960 Boy Scout Jamboree. What a pleasure to relive those days through this video.

  • ROYAL GORGE IT IS.

  • Im guessing royal gorge at the bneginning.

  • Tremendous video! I've always wondered what it must have been like to attend this! It's a weird feeling to watch this and to realize that it was filmed half-a-century ago!

Question: does the area where it was held still exist as such, or has it been built over yet?

  • @BoyScout1960 To the best of my memory the area was east north east of the Air Force Academy maybe 3 to 5 miles.

We could see Pike's Peak to the south west. There was a fireworks display for the Scouts and some of the fireworks were from the top of Pike's Peak as I remember it.

I was 16 years old at the time and it was a peak experience in my life as was Scouting.

    Thanks for the comment.

  • Thank you so much for posting this video. It must be very, very rare. There were over 50 thousand of us who attended this and I'm sure if word got out about this nice video that you would get thousands of views. Please keep it up long as possible. thanks again!

  • @pete49327 THIS WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE FOR ME.

    THANKS FOR THE POSITIVE COMMENT.
