I HAVE talked to women who told me they did not fight back, mostly from fear. Actually I think I've also read testimonies that said the same thing or similar, can't remember for sure.

Tell me TheMidnightx12, are you a timid person? Or when a fight beckons do you show the aggressors what you're made of?

I've listened to testimonies, read testimonies, and read pages that have helped me understand what to do and not to do when supporting a survivor, and the causes of both rape and why the victims sometimes react the way they do, both during and after. Is it not possible that that has gained me that kind of knowledge and understanding as well?

@TheMidnightx12 I don't doubt that, and understand what you're saying, but that doesn't erase the fact that sometimes the victims are too afraid to be able to fight back. yes, some women WILL do anything just to stay alive, but others won't even be able to think TO fight back. Like I said, some victims will perceive it as a life-threatening experience, and those kinds of experiences can make a person freeze up, so some victims won't be able to respond even if they WANT to.

@TheMidnightx12 sometimes they're too afraid to. rape is often percieved as a threat to the person's life, and can completely petrify a victim to where they can't even think straight, let alone fight back. Some do fight back, but some are too afraid to do anything at all, which, considering that it's often viewed as a life threatening experience, all they think about is survival, leaving the response of fighting back out of the question.

@nocturne1980 In the original story she loved Hercules (Herakles, in Greek) but she was afraid of Hera. The only thing she actually did to harm Herakles was leave him on a mountainside because she was afraid Hera would kill her if she kept him. (The story actually gets pretty funny from there on).

the movie tries to make it ambiguous. The prisoner of war (Antaeus I think his name was) did rape Alcmene but it may or may not have been Zeus acting through him. The whole movie makes it ambiguous rather the Greek Gods do or don't exist.
