  • Ahhh, Australian politics. Best in the world.

  • Ouuuuuch

  • paul keating is a low life, moaning about the australian flag and australia's constitution is the lowest he can ever possibly get.

  • @liverpoolmatt87 yes the 'low life' that built the modern australian economy... whatever mate :p

  • @brentoneccles yes the low life that isnt proud to be australian nor is he proud of the australian flag. and low life that ran for 6 years as pm. unlike john howard who actually cared about the country.

  • @liverpoolmatt87 to suggest that Keating doesn't love Oz is pretty pathetic - he pretty much built the modern wealth generating Australian economy, bequeathed that legacy to ol' John in 1996.

  • Comment removed

  • @brentoneccles pathetic?.....yeah right, more than once keating had been screaming out for a change of the constitution and the change of the australian flag. his 'big picture' idea was simply to modernise the economy so that australia would become a republic. now then he might have increased economic growth in 1992 but unemployment rate rose to 11.4% by the end of the year and foreign debts were mounting again in 1994 & 95.

  • @liverpoolmatt87 furthermore, ole john howard managed to pick up the economy and stablized it for the past 12 years.

  • @liverpoolmatt87 just like gough whitlam on how he was borrowing money from overseas to fund the economy.

  • @liverpoolmatt87 Why should we be proud of our flag when its got the british flag inside it.

Australia needs to grow up and become a republic. What a joke that the head of our country isn't an Australian. We cant even call the Queen our own because she is the head of 16 other countries as well. We are not living in the 1920s anymore.

  • @dlan1500 lol, well you tell that to those who were expressing their patriotic pride on autralia day because we're already are a republic we're a crowned republic, and the union jack represents australia's british roots since 1788. so not at all does it mean that britain rules australia. And we are growing up maybe gradually by still we are growing. changing the constitution is not needed as it costs taxpayers money. if you want a republic then you write another concept.

  • Comment removed

  • @liverpoolmatt87 well our flag does have the british flag in the top corner.

  • @dlan1500 adopted since the first fleet arrived.

  • Howard agrees

  • just love it when it cuts back to costello and he's sitting there with absolutely no reply. keating fucked him up good.

  • Howard / costello = 20 billion in the bank when they left office.

  • @MrAntiFarLeft

I fail to see why a country should be hoarding money away, especially when it is needed during a global financial crisis.

Only fools think that money in the bank is always the best option.

  • @britishguitar money in the bank is money to be used when the need arises. Its a safety net, now look at the western countries who's debt exceeds their GDP and see the trouble they are causing the global economy.

Future world powers such as China and Brazil do not operate on debt and it's something we can learn from

  • @AmANoid You are right. But it was used when the need arises. Both the Liberals and Labor can take credit for that.

  • @AmANoid but don't forget we would all have to work for 2 cents an hour to achieve this.

  • I will also say that Howard and Costello did I fine job of managing the economy, but to suggest that a 20 billion dollar surplus is actually anything to get excited about (by itself) is a bit silly.

  • @MrAntiFarLeft We should have trillions in the bank so whenever we need to build infrastructure we could do so with our own money. Borrowing money never works we need to fund things ourselves. Maybe it's time we sacrificed our next few generations to stow away money for the future. As i have said previously future world powers do not operate on debt, this is the future and we need to catch up as global power shifts.

  • @MrAntiFarLeft whoopee do, it was keating that had the reforms in place to allow that to happen, what did the libs actually do in 11 years? ask yourself that question, why is it when they left government hospitals were struggling, roads were starting to get out of control, interest rates were sky rocketing, schools were being neglected etc. If you want to educate yourself look up a keating video exposing the incompetance of howard and costello, it isnt biased rhetoric, it is facts.

  • Howard was listening.

  • keating is a champ

  • Couldn't have been more on the money

  • Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant.

  • Keating = 96 Billion Dollars of debt.... What a legend haha NOT

  • @wickedguy333

Do you know what black monday was in 1987 on the stock exchange? no? try shutting the fuck up then imbecile. One does not simply walk out of recession.

  • @wickedguy333 Costello & Howard = 600 Billion dollars of debt when they left office compared to 200 Billion when Keating left. Funny that...

  • @MsTsarbomba tut tut, there's no need for profanity

  • Paul Keating, such a boss!

  • @laborlosers You must be new here. I honestly can't understand why you would come to this conclusion with reading any economic literature on the matter. The case for free trade has been stated one million times over. Seeing how you don't understand, there's a summary in an E-book "economics in one lesson." You can skip to chapter 11 but you should read the whole thing. It'll do you good.

  • I wish that both Paul Keating and Peter Costello were still around. In comparison with our current choices I think Australia needs them more now than ever!

  • An ego bigger than the entire universe one thousand times over... That's pretty big come think of it.

  • Oh Paul...ahead of your time. We need you NOW.

    Peace.

  • frogmouth howard and all his right wing goons are a bunch of nobodies that done exactly what keating said feed the rich and destroy workers rights no wonder the poor rich bastards were crying when frogmouth lost the election they ruined all the basic rights of the common worker that fed the rich for 11 long years

  • Up Scumbag! Up Scumbag!

  • @walkabout09 and yours.....

  • @walkabout09 thanks for the tip.. Ill keep that in mind mate....

  • @walkabout09 .. oh sorry mate, I mistook you for being serious.....how silly of me... you labor guys are always having fun, spending money, doing little if any work, and mucking about as you rightly point out....actually I think they call my type a swing voter....

  • @walkabout09 not sure why ya persistin with the Costello thing dude, or where going with it, quit while you're ahead there mate, but I totally agree he would have won the election for the Libs, and would wipe the floor with the completely incompetent jerks in power at the moment. Maybe he lacked courage, or didn't have the numbers, but Keating on the hand, well thank fuck he's gone, dead and buried. enough said there....

  • @walkabout09 ... maybe on the days your not havin a bad hair day....

  • @walkabout09 ..its all good dude! no offence taken, democracy and freedom of speech is a really cool thing...

  • @walkabout09 np ;) you too... though in fairness, I only answered the question you asked....

  • @walkabout09 hahahhahaha... thanks dude, haven't laughed like that in a while! hahahah

  • @walkabout09 probably alot more than you have, or ever will. Are you a millionaire at the age of 28? probably not......

  • @511ph ..... couldnt have said it better bro!

  • This guy when at the top of his game had the best put downs and one liners ever.. just so funny to watch.. but thats what he will be remembered for.. being a joke... and for stuffing up the country.. such a waste of talent..

  • @511ph Your a fuckwit.

  • @511ph

Can you please explain how he stuffed up the country?

  • @walkabout09 Well you seem to remember him quite well...

  • Brian back Keating!

  • who voted for this idiot? sounds like a pisshead at a local footy game

  • And we got rid of him...what the fuck were we thinking? The age of robot politicians started March 2, 1996. Populists and automatons...nary a testicle between them.

  • Hahaha ripped

  • @walkabout09

hoWARd is and was totally unforgiveable

  • God, I LOVE this man!

  • He had a way with words. almost poetic.

  • BAHAHA Oh my god Keating.

  • Keating in classic form. He really had that fuckwit Costello's number.

  • @anthonyjthorne

He was intelligent and quick on his feat and had some sense of vision. None of that applies these days to the Labourals and Tories.

  • @walkabout09

yes, quite right...Keating is the opposite. I remember him very well, especially when interest rates rose to 17%.

  • im so glad keating is gone and forgotten, what a poor excuse for a human being

  • @woodybass123 Your just a Bitter and twisted poor excuse for a human being.

  • @neephius ...thanks mate, sorry to have an oppinion of a guy who nearly ended up destroying our country, and thought he was bigger than politics itself.

try comin up with some words of your own.... obviously not an educated individual....

  • keating was good, john howard was better, but keating was good.

  • Ahhh those were the days! Hopefully Julia will give it to Tony just as well.

  • Keating was a legend!

  • Costello doesn't have what it takes to be a leader and Paul Keating knew it.

  • Too good for Australia!

  • @terrythekittie

PK would be one of the pivotal reasons Australia still EXISTS (as you know it).

JWH just rode the crest of an international wave (credit based, at that), and had the extremely good fortune to pick up the fruit that was borne, in good time, from PK's economic reforms...and like all r-soles, JWH NEVER acknowledged his good fortunes.

Instead he brown-nosed our great and powerful friends, assisting them in their auto-elimination! And ours!

  • @herbgarratt All the leaders of the Planet think that Howard is a pissy little fuckwit. along with their now little johny Abbott.

  • @terrythekittie Keating was the worst prime minister ever, ran the country into the ground, massive dept, the Liberals came in and sorted out the mess.Keating is rough, uncouth, and definitely not the type of person to be running a country.

  • @marthaBot You are fucking idiot, you actually believe? You're just plain fucking stupid. No doubt you voted for Howard in '96 - a nation embrassment! And you know what we're about to get Tony! The 'little John Howard' no doubt ya voted him too. Ran this country into ground, you stupid person. Is just me or wasn't Keating named the greatest treasurer in the time of the recession? He BROUGHT HOME THE BACON!

Are you that Liberal minded to make a statement like that?!

  • @marthaBot uhh no keating reformed the economy and laid the foundations you idiot. howard and costello rode his wave

  • @marthaBot Your also a fuckwit.

  • @marthaBot

Howards 1982 recession shrunk the economy by 5% The 90 bank bill at 22.8%, Inflation at 11% a budget deficit at 22.8% of GDP. The fact is Howard should have been run out of town over his involvement in the 1982 recession.

  • Comment removed

  • @MsTsarbomba An ad hominem attack? What ever should I do. Not to mention hyperbole.

  • glad he is gone! Only ever interested in himself not the party. The way he exited politics was disgusting

  • Damn he was good, love him or hate him, top leader, and a top notch speaker.

  • Low altitude flyer... that's beautiful.

  • @murph1973 - i couldn't agree more! all those years howard spent getting us out of debt- only to see it all flushed down the drain in a year by mr fancy pants rudd

  • the only reason we got out of debt was because of the procedures implemented during the keating era that came into fruition once howard took over, Howard did nothing but sit on his hands and pat himself on the back at what a good job keating did that he took the credit for. The only thing howard introduced was the GST, what a great policy that was. Did howard have to deal with the GFC like rudd has had to deal with?, Howard will always be known imo as the horseshoe PM.

  • not to mention workchoices which was an absolute disaster. When he actually had to think of policies on his own he had no idea what was best for the country. Getting rid of howard is the smartest thing australia has done for yrs.

  • The other reason for Australia's resurgent economy through the Howard years was the buoyant resources sector led and demand for coal etc from China. Hardly Howard's doing.

  • @Baledwyr well howard's reaction at 0:29 to keating's dig at costello was pretty good.

  • @Baledwyr Costello wasnt a twat?

  • You certainly were right, Paul!

  • but...imagine if Abbott got elected...*shudder*

  • Keating has no admirable wit because he can only seem funny when he's humiliating people. He's not clever with words - he's just a nobody who likes to hurt people.

Why is he a coward (?) - because like a typical school yard bully he runs if anyone stands up to him. After resuming the Liberal leadership Howard (who I don't like as a person) made Keating run from the Parliament in their first debate just by retaliating. Keating will not stay and fight if someone stands their ground to him.

  • Keating was just a loud mouth bully with no clever wit. He was also a coward. John Howard made Keating quit!

  • i think you mean howard was spineless prick whilst keating built the australian economy,

  • phrod are you on crack or something. keating no clever wit? a coward-about what? please explain.

  • PWNED!

  • I'm American and I love this. The US Congress is in dire need of guys like this.

  • He was definately our funniest prime minister. :)

  • "Low altitude flyer"... Keating was spot on!!

  • Keating was such a classic in Question Time. Question Time is so boring now, Gillard does put a spark occasionally

  • lol@Costello being smarter than Keating. Are you serious? Costello was bloody ignorant about politics, particularly world politics.

Sure he studied law but so what? It was easy to study law in Australia in the 70's.

  • Ahem you have dealt with him, of course you have and I suppose you have also dealt with your "messiah" Keating. I've met Keating and he's an asshole. Keating was totally right about what ? You see you make comments like this and put no substance behind them :)

  • Keating jsus knew costello was far smarter than him. Of course in hindsight Keating was probably thinking " damn Costello was good, he fixed the whole fucking economic mess I got Australia into". :)

  • FOURTEEN years later, and still the lowest of the low-altitude flyers...

  • what i have never been able to come at with rudd is that he is so rehearsed. he reads all of his responses. he doesn't appear real. keating on the other hand, well the should make a musical about that guy, nasty funny.

  • Ha ha ha ha Costello is Keatings biatch

  • And that was just ad-libbing.

  • LOLOLOL PWNT COSTELLO

  • He tried being leader but he never got the numbers from the party. Why run for prime minister when you're out-voted in your own party?

  • Comment removed

  • Keating summed Costello up all those years ago, how spot on he was!

  • hahaha love it. Costello is the biggest waste of time in the history of aussie politics

  • Comment removed

  • It was Keating who set Costello up for a easy ride...That goes without saying.Funny how people like you get worked up over others comments and then get personal LOL

  • Comment removed

  • how? what exactly did Costello do?

  • I don't know if it's as much as what Costello did, as much as what he didn't do. And he didn't ruin the economy over the 10 or more years he was in power. Sure there were mistakes but there were more good times than bad.

  • This remains my all time favourite video on the web. No one sticks it to 'em like Paul.

  • a low altitude flyer !!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA how true ....... Costello - what a smug tool he is - thank Christ he's pissing off !!!

  • Keating is a Legend.

  • So now Costello has announced his intention to retire. This just underscores how Keating had him pegged so many years ago.

    Come back Paul!

  • Yes, I concede that the current state that the Liberals are in is not good for democracy. Hopefully Costello will challenge Turnbull.

  • Correction: I, not is.

  • Firstly is was talking about Howard, not Costello, and secondly, Do you think Wayne Swan is any good? Have fun with your huge taxes in the future, in that case.

  • And why is this?

  • keating took a beating in the 96 election... 2nd worst pm ever.

  • Funniest shit ever

  • HAHAHAHAAHA keating was funny

  • Thank god we have Keating to tell us what Costello is straight out, "all tip and no iceberg"

  • Classic Keating!

  • love it when Howard nods in agreement

  • Go Keating, just doing what he does best

  • he was the greatest man in government

  • save australia

    stormfront

    davidduke

    nsm88radio australia calling

  • Save Australia from what?

  • JustinFromSydney Save Australia from what YOU SAY?

These Governments are the biggest dirtiest TREACHEROUS Slime bags ever. Links are provided and you can read and listen to what we think of you Criminal Child fiddlers.

Downundernewslinks is back on line (news articles on crimes against Australia and You bastards Labor voters support it) Traitors supporting Traitors.

  • Well... what are you saving Australia from?

  • JustinfromSydney Why dont you go to the sites and figure it out yourself. Im not being rude there.I take it your from Sydney and you want to know What we need saving from?

I suppose you deny that there is problems with Non White criminals and No go zones in many parts of Sydney,Melb,Perth and Adelaide.

whitelaw towers australia calling radio show

  • "No go zones" are figments of your imagination.

There are criminals in every group of people. Skin colour has nothing to do with crime.

  • JustinFromSydney Well why dont you try and tell that to victims of race hate crimes.

downundernewslinks is no imagination Its reality. I think your imagination is running wild and you are certainly in denial.

    colour of crime database

    Dr David Duke

  • Firstly, are you serious? You want ME to recognise race-hate crimes?

Secondly, downundernewslinks is casting a magnifying glass over certain groups of people. Needless to say, white people still commit more than 99% of crimes in Australia.

Thirdly, it is YOUR imagination running wild. I know because I use to be like you.

  • Traitors against Australia? Stormfront seems to advocate some fairly unpleasent things for aborigines, are you telling me aborigines are not Australians?

  • NJLII I havn't said anything about Aboriginals. That's you trying to put words in my mouth. You can not tell me or any other decent folk that people on SF are saying some unpleasant things about Aborigines just for the hell of it! It would be for a reason Like their behaviour. Can you or can you not read?.

Stormfront has opposing views so go there.

  • The kind of people who frequent the stormfront forums are never the best that society has to offer anyway. What right do they have to stand on an imagined moral highground and apparently "look down" upon Aboriginis?

  • No they aren't saying it for the hell of it, they are saying it because they are white supremacists, or to be more specific most of them are anglo supremacists. Blinded by irrational fears and hatred, convinced that problems in society can be curtailed by ending inter rational dialogue etc. My sister is married to an Indian man, I've seen comments on stormfront which would view it as a wrong act, yet I reckon he's a more decent bloke than two thirds of folk I know, irrespective of their race.

  • The negative comments here are just typical of conservative right wing fanatics. Instead of trying to explain why Keating and Labor's ideas were SO wrong, they always attack and discredit him and his party. Think where Australia would be if it wasn't for him and Hawke, let alone the Labor party.. Think how even more amazing Australia would have been if he had stayed in power.. Whoever blames Labor/Hawke/Keating for high interest rates should look at the global facts at that time.

  • Here here.

  • Ahh the clash of the two greatest orators of the decade, if either of those two still sat on the frontbench today they'd have these pretenders for breakfast. Hockey and Tanner are the only ones within cooee of these two but they don't have portfolio's big enough to get many Q time questions.

  • one of the best sledges ever. keating made the liberals question their own intelligence and courage. brilliant.

  • keating reemed hawkie and that's why i hate him cuz bob never deserved that and he is still pissed off with keating

  • Keating wasn't very nice

  • Another articulate argument from the right-wing. As I keep saying, you don't have to be illiterate to be a conservative, but it helps.

  • have you forgotten that voters that voted him to win then changed to kick him out not just conservatives you arse wipe your still in love with the turd but the voters have moved on

  • The hilarious bit of this video is John Howard's body language response to Keating's comment about how he obtained the leadership.

  • Keating knew costello was gutless to take the leadership then and history repeats itself now

  • Jaxmegaherz - its 'Labor'. Go on and admit Keating was right about Costello now.

I disagree with you about Keating. Read "Recollections of a Bleeding Heart" before making your silly comments. No book like that would ever be written about JWH, so by contrast, Keating and Whitlam were definitely visionaries, though they are flawed. You are a typical reactionary tory with no actual insight, just bullsh*t.

Fools always have "league tables" for everything. Hope you are not a parent.

  • You make the mistake of assuming i'm a Liberal supporter (not Tory, no such party exists in Australia) Quite a reactionary response to criticism dont you think? Btw It should be "Labour" but some retard wrote it down wrong. Don't believe the story it was to avoid confusion with the British Labour Party as I think Australian Labor(sic) Party (ALP) was distinguishing enough.

And Labor's economic reforms of the 80's were the result of the Campbell Report as already noted.

    Visionary? Hah.

  • Whitlam? Any retard can say "free health care and free Uni"

No doubt, Whitlam was handed an economy in decline. But as someone said once "Whitlam was left an economy like an old Commodore, needing a new engine, new brakes, a good service and a a good panel beating, however he gave it a state of the art sound system and a rear spoiler"

Whitlam was a retard. Everyone knows it. Only Prime Minister to ever be dismissed. Good job huh?
