  • "And forever I'm dreaming of home I feel so alone, I'm dreaming of home." ---- I love this movie! It moves me to tears in so many places! I love the cat Nestor/Felix, I love when the tenor ---filled with pride and hope---brings the tree to the center of No Man's Land, and so much more. I am Jewish and this is my favorite Christmas movie.

  • I figured out those who diskliked the movie! They just wish the ENTIRE movie could have been posted.

  • @funinthesun130 The actor is mouthing as the singing is done by Rolando Villazón, a Mexican tenor ^^

  • @hanachan131 Thank you!!!

  • Who is the man that sings?

  • I think that I'm going to buy this. although it is a war film, we can see here that we are still humans. Thank you, Christian Carion, for directing this masterpiece

  • Just watched this last night and wow..good film. George Washington, instead of celebrating xmas, attacked the enemy on xmas night or the day after if I recall correctly lol

  • Merry Christmas From California.

  • merry christmas from England

  • Merry Christmas from BRAZIL! Feliz Natal galera!

  • Merry christmas from Holland

  • No matter what country you're from; where or how you grew up; there are some things in life that transcend all differences; the joy of Christmastime is a wonderful feeling, and this movie - this scene - captures it perfectly.

Merry Christmas, Frohe Weihnachten, and so forth to all.

  • Frohe Weihnachten! From Germany

  • 5:05 gives me goosebumps every time I listen!! Love this movie :D

  • Merry Christmas from Scotland

  • Merry Christmas everybody.

    Greetings from Peru.

  • Fui soldado, combatí en una guerra, se que significa una noche de navidad en el frente, no puedo dejar de llorar cuando veo este film

  • Joyeux noël

  • Merry Xmas, may their spirit shine upon us and that us all could learn from it.

  • Merry christmas at this 24 th december.... ♥

    Combattants français, allemands, anglais.. RESPECT.

  • oh yeah..and the 2 who disliked this video are ignorant, emotionless fools !

  • but as humans we haven't advanced much within the human condition !..

  • i really believe that during any war time, especially this one, no 2 soldiers ever wanted to kill one another...they were just following orders from corrupt politicians, insane dictators, power hungry presidents, and egotistical world bankers, who actually funded the war effort..this is a prime example of what humanity is capable of. we've much advanced in science, technology, and medicine, yet we still kill and fight, steal, and rob to stay alive or for the pleasure of it..

  • @blica1 at the end, humans, are just like any other animals, when there is too many of us,we kill each other for resources.

  • We all want to help one another, human beings are like that. We all want to live by each other's happiness, not by each other's misery. We don't want to hate and despise one another.

excerpt from Speech from Charlie Chaplin's 'The Great Dictator'

  • If you watch this film and are not moved by it then there really is no hope for you! I get a lump in my throat every time - Merry Cristmas whereever you are and waht ever language you may speak!!

  • This was shown late last night on BBC 2. A good film.

  • After all, there is something above politics; humans. Merry christmas to everyone!

  • i think silent night sounds so much nicer in German

  • @cap.vandorian I fear that the young lady is one of the very few artistic liberties that the film takes with the truth (alongside giving back weapons of the dead , sheltering in each others trench and omitting the one hour time difference between the German and allied lines). Yet for the dramatic effect of the film her presence is justified. And the famous (male) opera singer was there. He was applauded by the other side (as were germans all over the front) Also the songs are exactly accurate.

  • I love this film and try to watch it every year. Although it is not in itself a true story (and does not claim to be) nearly all details actually happened at different parts of the front, right down to the hello to the English and the response by the scots. It is my favorite Christmas movie. There are two good books about it. Silent night is already mentioned here. It captures the atmosphere well. For a more scientific approach, try Christmas truce from the pan grand strategy series, better sti

  • true spirit of christmas...

  • Beautiful.

  • 2 people are goats

  • Merry Christmas from Spain to entire humanity

  • You can always count on the Scottish ;)

  • @MrBrownFilms True many of the lads in the scots regiment where irish 2.

  • @JordoF6 True!, I am currently studying Scots on the western front in higher history, extremely interesting!

  • Even in the worst of times, Men can take time to be brothers in Christ.

  • die beste szene in diesem film

  • Such a heart wrenching film, it put a tear in my eye :'(

  • Nothing, not even a World War, can stop people from being Human.

  • @TheMeanSgtPlaysPiano Nothing, not even a time of peace, can stop people from being human.

  • @TheMeanSgtPlaysPiano There is only one thing that can, power.

  • This movie is a story of true Christianity.

  • @odonnell1218 It's about a lot of things.

  • Absolutely my favorite Christmas film now. It has become a Christmas Eve staple since I discovered it. always moves me to tears. And how could anyone dislike this film!

  • Impossible to watch this movie without tears. Many letters from soldiers to their families describe this truce. Several are included in Oh Holy Night: The Peace of 1914...on amazon...a reflection on the truce and the events leading up to it.

  • best Christmas movie ever.

  • can't we all just..... get along?

    Sgt.Colbert - "Generation Kill"

  • Peut importe les langues, les pays et les guerres, nous sommes tous des hommes...

  • @JedediahLove Tellement véridique, et meme de nos jours, nous avons des choses à apprendre des autres pays... BEAUCOUP de choses !

  • Who needs war when we have music ?

  • Bagpipes- The instrument of peace

  • This was the event that inspired the Christmas song of Snoopy's battle with the Red Baron!!

  • This situation is amazing in the fact of this was the last war in which honor and fairness were actually used. One side would fire their artillery, then the other would wait until the opposite side finished their bombardment. This movie opens the eyes of some ignorant people and shows how much people cared. Today, such love and peace is not possible, as our worldly opponents do not share these Christian Beliefs with our people. Comment continued

  • how sick they were celebrating christmas together and 5 hours later they made war again.... sick very very sick

  • @UFOTVGERMANY if you watch the movie they didn't fight again, they fired warning shots to get off no man's land and even sheltered each other in their bunkers when the artillery barrages came, only one person was shot after that night and it was fired by an angry depressed scot

  • This is one of my all time favorite Xmas movies! :)

  • 6:40 he's a kid no older than my brother i'd say 16tops

  • I love this movie !

    tellement touchant

  • Touching scene. The sad fact however is that there will NEVER be peace on earth. Its just not part of human nature. So long as greed exists at least, and once again sadly, greedy is part of human nature as well.

  • This scene here when he sings Silent Night and Adeste Fidelis and the scene when the Germans leave the english trenches while the Scots playing Auld Lang Syne for a farewell later in the movie are the only moments till today I cried in the cinema. And till today I'm getting tears in my eyes when I see this movie.

  • What human being would hit the dislike button on this video?

  • @mjacki someone who has a very unstable mouse hand and hit it by mistake

  • @dookeland8 I pray that's the case here

  • @mjacki not a human being?is that what u mean?

  • @sam9116 well I could say you're a top comment chaser trying to get people attention to your channel, but for the most part, I am hoping the person that disliked this video is a robot who doesn't understand human emotions and has no sympathy or understanding of what is comparable to human loss or death and that they quickly realize that death is not something to toy with and that for these men on that cold night was one of the greatest sacrifices humankind has ever made for itself. -_-

  • @mjacki wtf?I never thought about chasing for a top comment.U see, these days the top comments are all the same, asking for dislikes, likes, asking mommy about going to kill ppl who disliked the video, passing comments to other videos, etc , etc.........

I don't have any of that, but you do.

  • @mjacki the majors and générals...

  • @mjacki must be animals who know nothing about computers

  • @mjacki unnatural mans, with machine minds.. and machine hearths

  • @SrDonCosmo or they made a mistake

  • champagne showers

  • so beautiful

  • my favorite movie of all time...

when i saw a documentary on the xmas truce i burst to tears!

  • Peace on Earth damnit! What is the point of fighting these needless wars anyways?

  • I always thought music can bring peace in the world.

  • Holy shit.

I don't speak much of any language other than Engilsh, but damn if the emotions don't speak for themselves and tug at the heartstrings.

If this scene, or this movie in particular doesn't move you, you are not human.

  • I always cry when I watch this scene

  • We were watching this in 20th century today. I absolutly loved it. Now, please note, the following comment was not mine, but my friends:

That German singer hits one sour note, and suddenly BANG! Everyone's shooting each other again.

  • I'm English, and next time I go to Germany, Karlsruhe actually, I'm going to find a beer garden, get drunk and hug every damn German I can see. They'll think I'm crazy for sure, just another mad Englisher, the drink talking.-- But I made the decision to do it when I was stone cold sober back in London.

  • @styxfarshore come to Hagen, Germany and we'll have 2 to 10 beers together :D

  • @Sicklehead88

cheers Bruder, den besten Wünschen, down the hatch!!

    :D

  • @styxfarshore sehr gut, meine freunde! Ich liebe du, Frankreich, England, Scotland, und Deutschland. Ich treffe fuer du in Berlin fuer eine trinken.

  • hell yea if i were in iraq id try and bring christmas cheer to the world and bring them together by sledding in the sand havind sandball fights, put up sandmen and put lights on the palm trees. get a sleigh and a few camels to pull it. no lie that would truly bring peace to the season

  • :,( when he comes out with a chritsmas tree in his hand ...I thought he'll get shot or something ...

  • Je suis très prêt pour la saison de Noël.

  • can't believe this actually happened. this is fucking inspirational

  • No matter what Nationality we are, regarless of race, religion or language, we are all human.

  • with no subtitle or traduction its just perfect

  • 10 min: the time to make me cry!

    This is just... incredible!

I'd like to say that it's not the scene in this movie which is wonderfull (actualy,it is!!) This is more this part of history which is beautiful! During a war, the worst one, they just keep humanity in their heart!

    (excuse my bad english)

  • The most beautiful scene in all war movies.

  • this is the most beautiful moment in cinema, hands down.

  • The oh come all ye faithful still moves me to tears.

  • Fantastic!

  • Music used to unite people...now Americans use loudspeakers with heavy metal to drive the Taliban insane...our modern world has lost all class and humanity

  • @TTwhatdouwhant

Um i dont think the taliban was driven crazy by heavy metal that was their religion.

  • @Lumotaku I have to admit thats true and im not trying to diss heavy metal or americans...but u have to take in consideration that the talibans werent used to that sort of music.

  • I only wish that this had carried on. in some areas it lasted until new years. Mankind must destroy wars before wars destroy mankind.

Möge Gott Sie segnen alle und jeden. Von einem Kind des deutschen Vaterlandes!

  • you can take the man out of humanity but you cant take humanity out of the man.

  • i want this 2 happen all over the word

  • WWI was a horrible, obscenely bloody nightmare! And yet there was humanity there too. I hope we never see this kind of thing on earth again!

  • It would be awesome if this happened in afghanistan! However, there is one problem. The insurgents don't want to, they want to kill us. Gosh some of these fucking world peace people are retarded...

  • This was a really great movie, thanks for sharing this part

  • great film, wonderfull, greetings from Peru.

  • Yes, that's a different thing altogether, being a commanding officer, you could perhaps arrange something...however I doubt that Johnny Atkins could bring his sweetheart with him to, say, Passendale....;)

  • girls in the line....no way this could ever have happened!

  • @CaptainVandorian well it did.

  • @JordoF6 proof? where, when, who? (really would like to know)

  • @CaptainVandorian Well only that woman she was a friend of the german commander i dont know her name look the film up on wikipedia.

  • It is near impossible that this will ever happen again. At least, not on Christmas. Why? Well, you can't even say "Merry Christmas" here in the states without "risking" offending someone. So, imagine saying it in a war with people who don't even believe in Christmas. That's why this is impossible with the top comment about Christians, Sikhs, and Muslims. They all have different faiths. Gosh darn, all three countries have a church service in this movie. Good luck with that nowadays.

  • @GrandIceTea

I'm sorry, but you're completely full of shit.

You're more full of shit than a septic tank.

We could pump all the shit that you're full of OUT of you, and keep a methane power plant running for the next thousand years.

  • @Mantonization Yes, Icey is a clown, but don't lose your temper like that. Focus on the positive, in the spirit of the Truce.

  • wow, i had never known there was a christmas truce.I guess thats what happenes thanks to compassion and love and the christmas spirit of course

  • Lol, fckers play Battlefield, COD and think that gunning down a fellow human being is fun. WWII is different, as it was clearly against an ideology that swears death & destruction to many; WWI is just a war of confusion. In the end, wtf was the war about? Nobody can tell you th exact answer.

  • @Noobfromafar I can.Today's wars are for a bunch of people to make some more billions. That's all there is to it.

  • And that's why today we have ... professional armies instead of drafted soldiers. Such incidents have shown the ruling bastards that normal people, when forced to kill each other, are "unreliable". So, they decided that its better to have a volunteer-based, paid army, so that, either you fight to keep your familly well fed, or you fight because you're a mindless psycho that gets his fix out of killing. Social extorsion and mindless drones guarantee that a army will keep on fighting, no mater

  • One needs to be grateful that landmines were a standard practice only later in the war.

  • I wanna see the whole movie so bad!!!!! Cant find it anywhere!

  • @rclikes2go try letmewatchthis

  • 2 leute sind echt total beknakt

  • one word --> goosebumps :)

  • alba gu brath !

  • And (maybe) because of this miracle during the war, peoples are celebrating now christmas all over the world with christmas trees.

  • Even complete enemies can get together on such a magical night like Christmas.

  • War is the most evilest, vile, corrupting, and miserable thing we humans have ever created. Seeing how the good spirit of Christmas can still bring out the purest essence of the human spirit right in the middle of war; shows you that we humans still have hope.

  • @TomGuan69 its really too bad that something as truly miraculous as this cannot be seen in our current time between enemies on the battlefield.

  • @TomGuan69 humans didn't create war.Its a common trait in many primate species including ours.

  • c'est vraiement trop émouvant ...

  • Ein Licht brannte in der tiefsten Dunkelheit des 1. Weltkrieges.

  • Cette scène m'a fait pleuré

  • This scene makes me cry every single time.

  • @drumtap2792 same here its so touching

  • @drumtap2792 Filled with pride, hope, and the human spirit the tenor sets across the field with a Christmas Tree and sings. This scene fills me with hope and brings me to tears....every time. I'm a 33-year old man.

  • It's like Honduras and Spain taking a holiday break from war.

  • If only all wars come come to a pause like this. Only for a moment.

  • the fact how the French and the Scottish are on the same side, and yet they want nothing to do with each other.

  • whats the second song the german sings? after silent night?

  • @Monopoly907 It's called "Adeste Fideles" - a Christmas hymn in Latin. The title in English is "O Come All Ye Faithful".

  • LE TITRE DE L CHANSON KAN NICO SPRINK SORT DE LA TRANCHER ????? !!!! BANDE DE CHACALLL

  • @TheARP97 Stille Nacht espèce de CHACAL x)
