  • Amazing!!!

  • I don't think that it really makes a goddamn difference how many fucking basses you have if the drumline plays in unison with good technique.

  • i like it but whats up with the bass heads? especially on the last one

  • Stupid gym acoustics :/

  • this is so cool

  • Why are there Mario and Luigi people in the crowd? o.o

  • My tenor instructor is a former blue devils tenor player

  • no offense but u like my schools better.... i really cant hear this forreal

  • tap off sounds like shit

  • MY BOYS! JSU DRUMLINE BABY! SBKTIMFD!

  • Why am I watching this?! NEW SEARCH! BLUE DEVILS

  • tab brown is my drum instructor at my high school he is a beast and writes good music too

  • yeah.......i had to play this for a tryout to my HIGH SCHOOL DRUMLINE LAST YEAR!!!!!

  • this is quite awesome!

  • the call in was horrible but other then that it was good

  • Pretty freakin gud! I just want more from the quad players

  • wow this drumline is HUGE!!! i fricken LOVE that!!! i wish the high school I'm going to next year had a drumline like this :(

  • @MissCaroGarcia of course its huge its a college drumline

  • This is so cool. I wish my school band could do this.

  • my skool has the best drumline third 2 rome highskool and jsu thnkz 2 our instructor who is a former jsu drumline guy

  • certainly the nerdiest drumline ive seen to date :/ ill keep looking tho

  • Tab is awesome

  • Did his intro seem off at the end?

TAP-tap-tap-tap TAP-tap-tap-tap, then it fajumbles all up, it seems.

  • @serveTHEservants Never mind, I see what he did.

He sped up, and was still in time with that last smack.

He just changed it to 16ths i think.

  • @serveTHEservants

Lmao yeah i was confused for a moments

    TAP-tap-tap-tap-TAP-tap-tap-tap TAP-tap TAP-tap tap Tap TAP

lol my favorite cadence is called guns that shit is raw and another cadence called dipset

  • I want to see what those Super Mario Bros. did when they were there. But this is quite enjoyable!

  • snares stick height and execution is damn near perfect

  • center tap off ahahahah I like it

  • i love drumline...

  • haha tab brown is one of my instructors.

  • When you march 300 winds you have to be loud. LOL

  • @alexdrumman

"There" supposed to stay on the rim? Maybe, maybe not. Not every line uses the same technique, dipshit. Whatever country ass high school drumline you march in is not the universal standard for how to drum.

And honestly, volume-wise these guys are pretty tame compared to +/- 10 years ago. And as someone mentioned, the reason for the volume is because the band itself is obnoxiously big. Plus, it's just fucking band and these guys are just trying to have fun - no scores here.

  • @alexdrumman It's part of the show dumbass

  • Very good, LIke this alot

  • You guys are really good! Its like Im listening to my drumline!

  • i agree with the argument that its all dependent upon the amount of people in the band or corp you dont want to have 90 winds and 8 bases that just dosent make sense

  • @Cmndr95

Exactly. I'm in a band of over 350 ppl, and its loud enough that you can hardly hear our 10 snares, 5 tenors, and six basses. it gets to the point where you need to be heard, not make scores. it;'s not always about that

  • I'm glad to see my school isn't the only one that had white black and silver harnesses

  • MARK TIME!!

    lol

  • Comment removed

  • omartor8:.. its an over 300 member marching band... 7 basses aren't going to over power them

moleAHHH: their harnesses are laying on their stands- it was probably a long clinic soooo... they wouldn't use harnesses

  • yea but i mean ive seen bands that big and they still have 5 basssline

  • @omartor8 It means they are short on bass drums

  • oh i see the harnesses,

    my b.

lolzz they probably switch? or something.

  • a normal college runs 8-12 snares usually 5 or 6 tenors and about 6 or 7 basses. except fsu who is 8 snares 4 tenors and 5 basses cause theyre men.

  • Comment removed

  • wow....we only have 3 snares in our marching band..O.o but they're pretty awesome, i guess...:p

  • that cadence looks hard as fuck, i bey you if they werent in an echo-like gym, the snares would be dirty as fuck, had lots of rudiments and this drumlines instructor obviously marched DCI,but hey they played fuckin ditty and it was good,so props

  • a real drumline shouldnt have more than 5 basses

  • Really? And what is a REAL drumline to you?

Who wrote down that if you have more than 5 basses then your drumline is fake?

  • well obviously this is propaly a groove drumline idk cuz i really dont care about these drumlines cuz its stupid when u see a drumline with more than 5 basses

  • @mannineaux A true drumline is actually supposed to have at least 7

  • Comment removed

  • @pbnkw your retarded. are you calling all drum corps drumlines fake? Cause their more real than anything else in the world.

  • @mannineaux Exactly man My freshman year in high school My Drumline had 8 basses, 10 snares and 5 tenors! We wern't exactly perfect :) but we def. were a drumline for sure!

  • @mannineaux its not fake. just not good enough to be real

  • @mannineaux Drum Corps have the best drumlines in the world and they usualy have 8 or 9 basses.

  • @MrDrummerboy1028 Drum corps do not have 8 or 9 basses no good Drum Corps goes over 5 basses. and if they do their garbage and deserve do die! notice i say DRUM CROPS. any regular drumline can have however manny basses they want!

  • @cacapupu24 i agree....i played D1 DCI and 5 basses

  • @cacapupu24 thats ridiculous.....sometimes it sounds better so where are you getting your information

  • @MrDrummerboy1028 ive never seen a DCI corps with 8 or 9 basses thats ridiculous....who do you march for?

  • @mannineaux mine has 7 drums

  • hes right tho. i was think no more than 4. 5 maybe

  • yea thanks for agreeing with me dude

cuz when a band has more than 5 4 basses thats over powers the band alot

  • Comment removed

  • When the band can play well, it's necessary to have more than 4-5 basses. Didn't they ever teach you about the physics of waves? When a band plays in tune, you get a phenomenon called "Amplification."

Numbers don't always tell the whole story.

  • yea but dont always need more than 5 basses

i mean dude have u ever heard of DCI let me spell it out Drum Corp International

those guys could play good and they could play in tuned and all drum corps march 5 basses

  • Yes, I've heard of AND experienced DCI. There's a difference between 90 and 300+ horns. You also should consider that those 5 basses in a corps have all summer to refine and perfect their show. A good marching bad has about 1/8 of that time.

Once again, 7 basses can compliment a good 300+ marching band.

  • what corps

    yea i know that

yea but i still prefer to wacth a 5 bass drumline

  • um why isnt the center snare in the middle

  • dirty snares

  • The bass drums are wearing them. I should know. I was #2 that year!

  • hey cool Tab Brown is now my high schools drum instructor :)

  • cheeaa cheea battery is awsome man i gotta give it up to them they got talent and that takes a hell of a lot of hard wor two thumbs up

  • i love the tenor dance...lol

    ( 1:00, 1:54)

& the cadence is groovy, the drum line sounds clean(granted in a bad place for pristine audio) but I love it

  • wow2! awesome man! nice..like at 2:55..!

  • I'd like to see them harnessed, as well. Still pretty good, though.

  • The bass drums are wearing them. I should know. I was #2 that year! We always wore them. We were the only ones without stands!

  • Haha, go figure, the heaviest ones are the ones that have to actually wear the drums...

I mean the snares and tenors, I always prefer these things when everyone is harnessed rather than just one section.

Still a great sound though, so it doesn't really matter.

  • this is great and all....but lets see them do it while they are marching

  • they are marking time......

  • even so, they could still be harnessed and they can mark time while they march....every other drumline i know does it while they are marching.

  • So they are going to put there drums on, MARCHING IS MARKING TIME DF! You step in time, you march in time, i dont see where you are coming from old timer

  • Stupid!

  • stupid? and how many years exactly have u been in marching band? i have been doing this since u were in diapers.

  • Never wore diapers, to poor ahahahaha but seriously

  • For clarification, this was the 2005 drum cadence for the Marching Southerners in parades and for entering the field for exhibitions.

In other words, they were able to march while playing this.

  • wtf the count off sounded like shit!

  • Hoover High is freakin massive!!!!!!!!! cool cadence btw

  • 3rd snare drom the left's harness is off =P

  • All of their snare harnesses are off, and you mean "drum"

  • yes i do mean drum =P

for clarification i mean that the harness is not propperly seated at the front of the stand, as you can see its leaning about 30* closer to the floor than all the other harnesses

  • sucks

  • I love Linkin Parkinglot (thats the name if you didn't know). Either it sounds crappy because they were in a gym or it has been revised since '05. I go to JSU and have the sheet music and the newer version has more cymbal and a different bass lick.

  • Holy Shit thatz my school!!!!

  • sounds good but the basses have pretty bad hitting teqnuiqe

  • HAHAHAHAHAhAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • to much arm not enough turn, i agree

  • 1:01 dudethought he was on dancing with the stars

  • Dude my percussion instructer marched 9th bass for JSU when he went

  • Daaaamn. List to those bass drums go at it! 7 in total. That's impressive. We have 4, and they were not good at all. I love it when Drumline's basses are amazing. =]

  • ahah high school is where it all starts.

im the first bass drum on my schools drumline even through were a small band and have 3 basses 2 snares 1 tenor and 1 symbols but we get by with our 6 cadences XD

  • *cymbals, not symbols...

  • that is alot of bass man the usuall to me is 5 to 6

  • hahahaha the end tenor looks like barney from how i met your mother

  • what are they saying at 1:02?

  • any idea what this cadence might be called...?

  • i believe its called the "house cadence" im not positive

  • thanks much

  • its called Linkin Parkin Lot

  • at 2:11 one tenor keeps his sticks up to long and is late coming in...

    yeah

  • lol never noticed that, nevertheless nice cadence.

  • wow i thought are line was huge witch it still is but 9 snares 7 bases and 4 quads man we have 4quads 6 bases and 6 snares

  • nice

  • man, snares get all of the glory and have the easiest job. lame.

  • snares....easy?

    wow

    you got it twisted

  • snare line, you all play the same part. bass line, you all play a part of a part. One person messes up, everyone messes up.

  • haha normally bass 7 doesnt have much to do

  • tenor visual thing is from 98 cavies street beat "bunco rules"

    lol..

  • actually... they were using the visual before 98 at JSU.. I marched with the Southerners in 96-97 and remember it well.. :)

  • Center drummer don't have to tap off when you have 9 snares.

  • Now thats sweet!

  • Awesome cadence! I wish our highschool drumline could play cadence like this lol

  • I hear you. Oh how I hear you.

  • my schools drumline played this cadence.

but then we switched back to electric wheelchair lol

  • I doubt your high school played this cadence since only JSU has it and it was worte in 05. Plus your high school probably doesn't have near enough chops for Linkin ParkinLot

  • why didn't the center snare tap off?

  • With 9 snares center don't need to tap off.

  • I remember this from my freshman year!!!!! They were so awesome, and the pit was amazing.

  • In the beginning of the vid, did he say this was written by Tab Brown??? I went to high school with Tab and played on the line with him. I know he went to Jac State. If it is, hell yeh.

  • yeah it's Tab Brown.....i remember seeing it on the top of the music.....our high school drumline is trying to play this.....there's no way we can.

  • umm... no

  • what is this cadence called?

  • Linkin Parkinglot

  • Iwas a member of the Spirit of Atlanta in 1984, one of our quint players, Turtle, won individuals two years running he came from JSU. Lots of others did also, I think David Cohely also did. Sounds great UMASS, needs to check out DCI's Best lines Blue Devils, Vanguard, Spirit of Atlanta, and JSU, then they will learn how to groove, with technique!

    WC Whitner

    Member Spirit of Atlanta- 1984

Perfect 10 in Music Ex At Whitewater, DCI Midwest.

  • Thom Hannum writes music, not notes. Basically, there is more music in 16th note rests than there are in cheezes and flam fives. I don't believe Thom writes any cheezes or anything of the sort.

I can safely say that the UMass cadence grooves way more than this cadence. Why? Its music, not a compilation of rams

  • glad someone gets it...

  • Now...I am prolly a bit biased cuz I marched JSU in 03/04...but I checked out UMass and I have to say while they might be clean, they aren't really playing anything. 2005 was a pretty good year for the JSU line...those kids had it goin on.

  • UMass Drumline '08 is going to be the best year yet... UMass stuff grooves, man. No disrespect to JSU, that's great stuff too.

  • this is simply great. very interesting beat through the whole cadence. great for crowds

  • jsu is better than UMASS

  • hell no

  • OMG!!!!! they nice again

  • nice flare and form on the snares. just excellent

  • That sounds a lot like our drum cadence! 0-0

    Still love it, though.

  • thats a frickin huge bass line, biggest ive ever seen

  • Petty boring!!!

  • dude what are you talking about. one of the best college drumlines or bands in general that ive seen. i mean they have their own drum corpes. the spirit of jsu ever heard of them?? their div.1

  • wow.. im stunned.. if thats boring then either A) your one of those "show band" kids where all you like is 63692374 bass of the SAME SIZE or B) your pretty new to the whole drumline thing. either one is forgivable in my book. i HOPE that your not just stupid.

  • Yeah, I agree with Theotheblizace. JSU is one of the best Line in the US and the best Marching band. I mean people from the Cavies all the down to the Blue devils come from there.

  • wlfarms you dont know what you're talking aboout... but you all need to search "umass drumline" jsu is good, but check em out

  • its sad

the bass drums r the only drums without stands

and ther the heaviest ones of all!

  • actually tenors are generally the heaviest.

at our school i was 3rd bass drum which weighed about 35lbs. the 5th one weighed around 45.

    tenors weigh almost 60 lbs.

and the snares are about 30.

  • you should see em at practice.. lol Nathan totes bass 6 around like its nothing. that things like 65 lbs.

  • better then a lot of other college lines I've seen out there, but if you want to see the real deal college line, search for morehead state's band or drumline. Worlds Most Dangerous Drumline, for real....

  • I don't see a single thing wrong with that line. Some time there are different ways of doing things. DCI isn't always the way to go. I teach integrate both Show band & DCI. And the kids I teach have fun and learn discipline. Plus the parents and teacher support this way of teaching also.

  • how do you write music for 7 basses?

  • its not as bad as nine basses which we USED to have. im almost hopin we do it next year :)

  • we could drum circles around sots, whup troy!!!

  • snare line is waddling, pick up your feet!

  • ...theres different ways of marking time. Some bands mark time with their feet planted some bring their feet up slightly some have their feet apart some have their feet close together...just how show style bands march with a high step and core styles use a role step...shows how much u know.

  • i cant believe your allowed to fidget like you did at the beginning, my drumline would be running laps for that, we gotta be dead still unless we are on break

  • its called relax....and this was only an exhibition, i doubt they were at attention. Thats only when u call attention...

  • Haha, I know. It doesnt look professional when your swaying around playing with your sticks when you should be standing at attention. My drumline teacher would have shot us all.

  • duh their swaying, its part of their cadence...most drumlines are coriographed. urs sounds square, one that bores you because of their robotic actions

  • coriographed? lol

  • hahaha...no

  • yall dancin ain't lol yall a fool but yall kan play in yall wuzn't sloppy wit it

  • MBEST2
