  • My recollection is Eno had a dream with little tiny women singing 'we are the 801...' hencw how th band 8

    01 got its name

  • This is great, but jesus, Eno's voice is worthless.

  • @Vesters1 But isn't it the stranger sounding voices that end up standing out? It's His record, he can sing it any way he likes, Good music isn't made for everybody, in fact good music lasts as mass made junk is consumed and forgotten. How many great bands music from this period still stand out? Granted, the early '70's had some remarkable artists.

  • @Oldbmwr100rs In the case of, say, Lou Reed, yes. Bowie, Dylan, Ferry, strange voices, but all of a certain quality which couldn't be attributed to Eno's... And I say this respecting Eno very much, especially his work within Roxy Music and his time with Bowie.

  • @Vesters1 - hehe, i like elvis too, but this is not that kind of music, so you missed the point completely...

  • @maelstone Wtf? Elvis? I Said Bowie, Read, Dylan, Ferry, whom Eno all colloborated with. That's not Elvis, not "that kind of music". You missed the point completely.

  • Moar better than $cientology..amirte ?

  • good.

  • even the music is circular!! we are the 801!!! ...certain streets have certain corners, sooner or later, we'll turn yours...

  • bedankt .

  • see BRYAN FERRY, threw BRIAN ENO, out of ROXY MUSIC because he was tired of being upstaged and women flocking to ENO..he also got rid of him because ENO, wanted some of his compositions played..just think of the alternative accomplishments the 2 would have made together..the "TRUE WHEEL" is truly a brillliant song..

  • All of Eno's early 70's vocal music re-organized my neural networks in the late 70's and they've never been the same

  • There's another Youtube video of this song from user ZBadSync, with some fantastic graphics.

  • 801 Eno / Manzanera here we go ding ding.

    British Clearlight days. ;-)

  • Eno at his best....nothing else to say

  • Uh Oh Nothing Here This Time!

  • i never really payed attention to Eno until recently and i must say i fuckin love this

  • If you can find a stereo with a "mono" setting - try listening to the guitars at 2:16 on mono for a totally different experience. Amazing!

  • @Raskoilniki Funny, I first listened to this CD entirely in Mono and hated it! Then, later, listened to it again in Stereo and now it's one of my favorite albums. Dunno. It's definitely a different experience listening in Mono!

  • Brian, Sid Vicious was from Lewisham

  • Great to hear this song again. It blows your mind away...OMG how I just love it :o)

  • genius at work. fantastic song

  • Inspired a certain band 'A Certain Ratio'.

  • "Bowie and Roxy Music" tunes!... GREAT

  • Brain Noe? No Brain? Borin'? No we are looking for a certain ratio....oh oh

  • Are the lyrics at the end of the song inspired by Arthur O'Shaugnessy's Ode?

Also, did the band "A Certain Ratio" get their name from this song?

Also, is he referring to Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers?

  • Are the lyrics at the end of the song inspired by Arthur O'Shaugnessy's Ode?

  • SO BRILLIANT! So then, so since, so now! I was listening to "Taking Tiger Mountain By Strategy" this morning!
