This definitely ranks with Nitzsche's best work; for me its up there with "Cutter's Way" & "...Cuckoo's Nest". As a major William Friedkin fan, I was always fascinated by this score. It took me a while to track down Ralph Towner's "Waterwheel" & "A-i-a" from Barre Phillips because I always thought Nitzsche composed them. Great posting, AngelofMusic04!!
i have loved this movie since i was 12 i wish they never cut 40 minutes from the damn thing and worse still they never kept the original that they cut out so in these more ''enlightened'' times they cant re issue this film with the missing scenes
Wow, in the words of South Park... "I learned something today!". Have always loved that music and never realised it wasn't Jack Nitzsche's score. many thanks for the information!
@1050ccTriumph they used some classical piece from this movie in master and commander, the last piece from the movie when pacinos wife puts on the hat and looks in the mirror and it was also the last piece in master and commander.

The music that plays from about 1:45 to 3:40 is by Barre Phillips from his album THREE DAY MOON. This music is listed in the end credits of CRUISING.

nitzsche did some incidental music for the exorcist along with some others, including krzysztof penderecki.

I'm a big fan of Jack's but Mike Oldfield wrote and performed Tubular Bells, the sound track to the Exorcist.
