  • Greatest version of Annie ever!

  • omg i love this childhood memoriessss

  • Okay soo... I'm confused which orphan is which? so, Molly is the kid who had the bad dream and Pepper is the one who said "how am i suppose to get any sleep around here?" and I'm guessing Tessie is the one who always say "Oh my goodness"?

    who's Duffy , July , and Kate?

  • @JohnMorrisonDX duffy is the boyish one

  • Tim curry is god of all, including this movie x

  • Whenever i see this I sing along to every song! Love this movie soo much

  • lesbianville

  • no top comment? MY TURN!!!

  • ahah I love Carol Burnett!

  • @taylorfan201 i think they meant to say that they have been raking until the morning I think

  • when they are outside, its daylight but i thought this was the middle of the night???

  • @taylorfan201 It is but they started filming this at 6 am and the sun rose right as they were setting up sooo it kind of got screwed up! lol I can't remember where I read this but i think it was IMDb.com in the goof colomn. :)

  • the 1999 version is completely awful! this one is soooo good

  • @taylorfan201

It isn't awful, it's just different. You really shouldn't compare the two, they're great on their own :).

  • great role for carol burnett she is an awesome actress

  • noting beats annie the musical and totally beats the 1999 one I love you annie the musical cant get over it every day 30 times i have to hear a annie song and watch the movie on youtube 1,2, or 3 times

  • this IS Annie. The new one might as well be called something else. If you're going to remake it ATLEAST give the main character her signature hair. *shakes head in shame*

I really always have loved this movie, since the first time I saw it in 1998. Such a classic, my mom had it video taped and when I was 3 she let me watch it (1998) it was great I have watched it atleast once a year since. I know almost every line in the whole movie. And all the songs easily. Without a doubt word for word.

  • She sings beautifully <3

  • I think this goes without saying, but Carol Burnett is the best Ms. Hannigan ever

  • John Huston the ultimate showman! good old memories!

  • the songs in annie are the best! just classics

  • Im 14 now, I am a singer songwriter from Australia, and this is the movie that drove me to be a singer, i have been accepted into the best choir in my school, and it is also the best choir in the city.

  • Aileen Quin was a far better Annie. She was able to pull off the aggressive but sweet Annie, Alicia Morton couldn't really pull it off.

  • i dont like the 1999 version! they didn't even give annie curly hair!!!

  • I accidently started watching the 1999 one and thought WTF is this ..

  • O o i remember this in third grade i was in a play about Annie

  • love this version....not a fan at all for the one in 1999

  • I love the way Carol Burnett plays Ms. Hannigan. She breathes a life into the character that I have never seen in any other production of Annie. And who else but Carol could make such cute pet names (or not so cute sometimes), like "my little pig droppings", "My little scissors legs" (calls Grace Farrell), or my favorite, "My little billiard ball" (Oliver Warbucks. She also plays the drunk part better than any actress I've seen. Kathy Bates was good, but nowhere near as funny as Carol.

  • how can those little girls do those flips??? o.o

  • maybe makes me want to cry forever.

  • Best movie ever. Nuff said

  • can u buy this version on dvd cause if u can that would b awsome cause i grew up with this movie and i always have and will love this movie

  • I love Mollie's smile at 4:31 Its so cute!

  • I know my mom and dad if it makes you rejects feel any better :D

  • @iinducelulz thats meanXD

  • Carol Burnett that's all I have to say! :)

  • O my goodness(:

  • 29 people got put in an orphanage.

  • I saw this movie when it first came out in 1982. I was 13 years old and saw it in a local movie theater (unfortunately that movie theater has long since closed down. A victim of home video and cable tv, like many other theaters). I enjoyed it so much that I stayed to watch it a second time. You wouldnt think a 13 year old boy would like a movie such as Annie, but I did. (AND, years before the movie came out, I saw the play back when it was still originally on Broadway, not once, but 3 times!)

  • Comment removed

  • @boffinme80 Yes it was home video and cable tv that caused the closing of movie theaters. Isnt it obvious why? Home video/cable tv provided competition for the theaters. It became cheaper to watch movies in the comfort of your own home than to pay box office prices. How in the heck can you blame downloads? The theaters were closing down in massive numbers long before "downloading" existed! I too used to go to the movies every week until I discovered that it was cheaper to rent a VHS tape!

  • @ghostrepublic Oh and don't bother replying to me because one, I hate people like you and two, I'm done with this argument and you can stuff it.

  • @boffinme80

"Oh and don't bother replying to me"

    Too late :-)

"because one, I hate people like you"

Not healthy to hate people you dont know.

"and two, I'm done with this argument and you can stuff it"

And you have a nice day too, buddy! :-)

  • @ghostrepublic Hate to break it to you but home video is not the reason why cinemas have closed down. Home video came out in the 80s and they had been going strong many years after that. Like the other person said, films come out every month so that does not stop closures or people from going. The MAIN reasons why is because people aren't going to the cinema anymore BECAUSE they charge too much and when downloads came on the scene, people would rather watch them for free which is in fact illegal

  • @ghostrepublic So again, don't blame the home video because cinemas had been going for years and years after. It;s nice for people to watch their favourite movies. It's downloading movies illegally but nothing is done about it.

  • @snowfield667 I shall continue to blame home video (and cable). Yes, cinemas have been going on for years and years, but many theaters have closed down what with the simultaneous rise of home video and cable tv. And you cant blame it on downloading because these theater closings have been going on for many years, in the 1980s and 90s, BEFORE downloading movies even existed!

  • @ghostrepublic By the judging of your comment you appear to be a twat. Get a life and stop being so fucking selfish.

  • @ghostrepublic Well where I live cinemas HAVEN'T closed down. So you can shut your mouth.

  • @ghostrepublic It's ILLEGAL DOWNLOADS that have caused closures you little shit!!! Read it in the news!!

  • @snowfield667 You admit that they have been closing down, then you say that they havent been closing down where you live, then you blame illegal downloading for closing them. Make up your mind. No, illegal downloading isnt causing theaters to close down. The studios may lose out on some revenue, but it isnt causing theaters to close down. Home video and cable tv is the cause of that. If you actually "read the news" youd see the theater owners saying that. And no, I wont shut my mouth.

  • @ghostrepublic How can you blame VHS if the quality was quite bad back in the 80s??

  • @snowfield667 VHS quality wasnt GREAT like it is today with HDTV, but it wasnt bad either. How can I blame it? Simple. It was cheaper to rent a VHS than pay box office prices. Why do you think video stores went on the rise in the 80s?

  • @ghostrepublic Reported you. I hope you get banned from Youtube one day you piece of shit.

  • @snowfield667 Ooooo...I'm soooo scared. Reported me for....what exactly? Responding to your posts isnt a violation of youtube's terms of service. And youre the one with the insults and potty mouth, not me.

  • @ghostrepublic oo would you two idiots quit commenting pointless and stupid comments about whatever and just enjoy the movie. assholes

  • @kellyandelena snowfield under a new name.

  • @ghostrepublic but when a film comes out at the cinema it is also avaliable for download and that's what those lazy sods would rather do. Going to the pictures has always been a tradition and the vhs quality was not as advanced and they were rather expensive to begin with but then they got cheaper in the late 80s/early 90s. Dvds had better picture quality but does that stop me from going to the cinema?? I go and see things that are good. There's just been a lot of crap on.

  • This song always makes me cry...I was adopted. Even tho I found my real parents...it wasnt like how ya see on TV with the tears. Anyways...I get choked up every time.... :(

  • @phillygrl69 I AM ADOPTED AND I DON'T KNOW MY BIRTH PARENTS, I DON'T KNOW WHERE THEY ARE, THEIR NAMES OR IF THEY ARE DEAD.... :-(

  • @phillygrl69 I dont know what its like to be adopted, but I sure dreamed about what it would be like. You see, my parents split up for good in the mid-1970s. My mother got custody of us kids. It was after the split when she turned into a mentally ill, abusive, psychotic monster. Many is the time that I wished someone (like Daddy Warbucks) would come along and deliver me out of my hellish existence, adopt me into a better family, but it was not to be.

  • i honestly prefer the 1982 to the 1999.. i love bolth versions but i like this one better

  • Aileen has real talent and she was so cute as Annie. Lovable redhead

  • when i hear annie i remember daddy Warbucks bald shiny head (*´▽`*)

  • What were they thinking when making the 1999 version? Nothing beats the original.

  • Carol Burnett ROCKS!!!!!! Thumbs up if you agree!

  • I love this one. I think it's better than the 2000-something one! I love Tim Curry in this movie (okay I love Tim Curry in every movie!)

  • I know right? Have you ever watched 'Clue' ? It's my favorite Tim Curry movie (After Annie)

  • 8:28 to 8:37 talented !

  • to me this movie makes it seem fun to be an orphan and btw THESE ORPHANS CAN DANCE!!! THEY'RE DOING FLIPS!!!!

  • Carol Burnett is frigging HILARIOUS as Miss Hannigan.

  • @RetroVideoFan

    i totally agree!

  • @RetroVideoFan i agree !

  • @RetroVideoFan You're so right. Her acting as drunk is completely genius.

  • I'm watching both movies at once...I really can't decide between the two, I love them both! (though I loved the 1999 one best as a child)

  • @khaza1wolfgurl i never seen the 1999 version. only the 1982 one. and i love this movie ( and guess what i am 16 :))

  • They don't need a remake of the movie but what they do need is a revival on broadway.

  • I love this movie, ='). This version of Annie is the best,

I always loved hearing Maybe sung by Aileen Quinn she is the best Annie ever.

  • I remember listening to 'Hard Knock life' a long times ago and I watched the 1999 version and thought that there was something wrong with the voice. So I found this and this is the song I remember! ^^

  • Apparently 26 people don't know how to use there mouse properly this a great film to watch on a crappy day like today.

  • @SummerSunshine1988 thats always the way the song goes im not sure why but it was lik that with andea mcardle on the original broadway preformance

  • I love this movie I never get tired of this time honoured classic! Love it. Great film for a rainy day.

  • What the heck is a "piana"? I know she meant to say "piano", but why did she say it like "piana"?

  • @SummerSunshine1988 Its called Poetic liscence, Songs which are usually from poems allow the user to change words so they 'fit' the poem xD

  • @ChibliCraft : I know. It was just weird to hear it said like that. :-)

  • anyone notice how annie in this version bears a striking resemblance to Penny from the Rescuers.

  • im not english

  • what about today why don't you love me today dose it have to be tomorrow!?

  • no one cares if u grow or if u shri nk ;)

  • when i was 4 yaers old i would always whach it like always and know that i am 12 yaers old i seatl whach it :')

  • Lol I LOVE this movie!!! I always watch it on utube cause i'm too lazy to dig out the vhs xD

  • annie be running shit

  • we wachted this in music befor school ended

  • Let Willow Smith play Annie.

The Smith family can do no wrong! If Will Smith ran for president he would get my vote...and I don't vote, but that day i would make an exception!

  • Don't like the idea of another 3rd version of a classic of Annie. It would ruin Annie and this films memory. Just like I feel the 2nd version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a mistake.

  • They just CAN'T get Willow Smith to play Annie! It was bad enough seeing the brat as a suport act at a concert, but no. They shouldn't even have remade this in 2009, let alone 2012. I think I'd rather the Mayan end-of-the-world rumours come true.

  • @FanFicReader268 Then you're a fucking retard

  • My mom insisted I watch this movie when I was 7 years old and I've been in love with it ever since

  • @keydazy same here! :) my fave musical!

  • @keydazy betch ya they're good, why shouldn't they be, betch ya you're glad you watched that movie.

  • @dramaqueen465 lol I am. It's one of my favorite musicals to this day.

  • I use to love this as my names Annie, brings back soo many memories, why is it you see films so much differently when you watch them as a teenager...

  • @TooHipToHop I don't see them much differently but I fell overhelming nostalgy^^

  • @TooHipToHop omg were the same! lol my names annie too and yeah so many memories... i used to watch it every day after school when i was about 4, i just used to sit cross-legged in front of the tv watching it every night lol

  • @LaRouxNo1 No way! Me too! (:

  • @TooHipToHop Beacuse ur view of the world and ur life experiences are different from when u were a kid, don't worry, it's perfecty normal :)

  • when I was a kid this was my fav movie :)

  • OH JEEZ!!! i was 8 when i watched this for the time when it came out!!

  • Thx

  • man all these kids are such great singers and dancers. They all got big talents.

  • I searched up aileen quinns photos, and she looks so different now. but almost still the same, her hair, is straighter and darker.

  • @artpeacemaster Aileen used a wig when se played this move.

  • @ChockeOnTheMjSmoke Wow really.... I never Knew That. :O

  • I love this movie more than the remake!!!!!!! But they are both fantastic

  • AWW how i remeber watching this as a very little kid...

  • I met Carol Burnett November 5th!!! for you who don't know she plays miss Hannigan and she had her own show called the Carol Burnett show. So now she still does Q and A's! :) She is the nicest lady I have ever met! :)

  • @ILoveCarolBurnett reaaly????u r so lucky. carol burnett rocks-she was an awesomely epic Ms.Hannigan!!!!!

  • @AnnieTheModernMovie Thank you I actually learned about her from Annie 1982 omgoodness I am so obsessed with this movie! I watch it all the time! :)

  • @ILoveCarolBurnett I would be very intimidated by her

  • "Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness!" I love that girl!!

  • pepper can be a son of a gun-but I love her! XD haha

  • I love this movie <3 if Willow Smith does this remake everyone is talking about...she is gonna make a lot of people angry...including me -_-

  • Love the scene: Its a hard not life!

  • @wowloverules hard knock life

  • @orian900 Oh soz i meant knock :)

  • @wowloverules its hard KNOCK life not hard not life

  • @mochamegan123 Okkay!! I no!!

  • now there's a remake in 2012

  • There was a remake back in 1999.

  • Not bad. Thx for loading. :)

  • I had the soundtrack tape of Annie and I remember in the opening "Tomorrow" song, the orphans are singing in the background. But in this version the background singers are grown women. Are there two different versions?

  • @quemacha it's played twice and one has grown women and one has the orphans. i know both are on the musical soundtrack.

  • my name is annie too:D

  • Has anyone noticed none of the plates break despite being thrown around by the orphans?

  • @rjconnolly64 They are either plastic or correlle!

  • luv this movie its a classic its better than 1999 version that one sucked

  • @mgmsong Yeah but it did stick to the broadway version more than this one.

  • Pepper, the toughest orphan, with a New York accent.

  • this is my absolute favorite childhood memory

  • i saw this play on brodway, loved it, and bought the script/

  • I must say, the 1999 version, well, the one they casted for Annie was much cuter with...more mild and tamed hair whilst Warbucks was kinder and so was miss Hannigan. But this one will always be the classic Annie that always fits what it's supposed to be made out to be.

  • Love how the little blond girl at the start throws the towel at the wall, kicks the crap out of said wall then stomps down the stairs ... Fave bit that x

  • Ok at 3:02 isn't that modern day new york?? >.<

  • Man this brings back memories... my parents played in the orchestra at a stage performance of this when I was a kid and I had a huge crush on the girl that played Annie.

I just can't get used to the 1999 version, this one will always be the one that's most resonant to me, one of those movies that takes me right back to childhood, like The Goonies, The Monster Squad and Bugsy Malone. Say what you want about the crappy movies of the 80's, there was some great kids' movies.

  • thumbs up if your watching this in the future OHHH 2011 baby :D be happy its almost 2012..

  • between the 82 and 99 version, i prefer the 82's acting, but i gotta go to the 99 for the music. everyone's performance in 82 was incredible, but i think the musical segments were altered very mediocrelike from the stage version. the hard knock life scene is a good example. the acrobatics and all that choreography doesnt make it seem like its so bad to be living there. it didnt sell the realism. 99 was more true to the stage version's music, but overall 82 was quite good.

  • just did this as my school play and the last night was tonight and i am so sad its over.. was amazing.. (: xx

  • Haha when I was 2 I went up to my neighbor and he walked away and I said " Ahhhh blow it out your old wazoo" my mom said she laughed so hard.

  • @22BroadwayGurl That's hysterical!

  • @TheLadyWhoLunches Its funny that my neighbor still reminds me of it and i'm 15 now!

  • @22BroadwayGurl Really? I'm fifteen, too :)
