@301001082 : Get your facts straight. You have to have continuous DC power to power things. That creates heat due to resistance. Its an inefficient system for long distances, but great for very short distances, as in electronic devices. AC can work over long distances. Dont support Edison just because you have been brainwashed with the wrong information. If you dont know find out first before correcting people.

@R3MUS2007 Actually, nowadays you can transform DC too, and and use wires such as HVDC to transfer it over long distances. AC is still the most used, though. So your info is a bit off. The reason why you couldn't use DC before was because they didn't know how to transform it into high voltages, to bring the losses down when they transferred it. High voltage -> low current -> low losses.

Edison didn't understand Tesla. Edison has nice work on battery. Tesla and Edison (together) will made electric car possible. My try to understand his work can be found on: "Nikola Tesla and My Thoughts" (google it) and it has lot of interesting ideas like Tesla's combustion engine, Energy of space, Flying machine, Magnetic linear movement, Plasma on aluminum in water, Quantization of gravitation, Tesla's energy transmitter, Tesla's style windmill and other interesting stuff.
