Goddo has got to be the most underated canadian band ever.... excellent live band, most memorable performance that I attended was the brawl at Ontario Place and the brawl at my high school Vincent Massey Collegiate in Etobicoke..lol
They were so so good. saw them in a blizzard at Fryfogle's In London circa 1983...6 crazy bastards got thru the snow and wind and saw the show...they did not scale it back an inch..left it all on the stage floor for the six of us.
I always wondered what Paul Schaeffer would look like with hair wearing a leopard-skin print suit!... Now I know! It's been thirty years since I first heard Goddo, and It's wonderful to hear their music once again! (I've still got "An Act of Goddo" on vinyl...)
ahh! good times, and those ass quarts in those incredibly ample bottles,i was always suprised more of them werent used as weapons, but then again those were just good old bar fights.....{:-)
ya good ole J.D. Roberts was on New Music, now he's John Roberts anchorman for CNN...good for him, he's making the big bucks......New Music was agreat show.....they played cutting edge music, not just pop.
I saw them in Oshawa early '80's. They rocked the house down to shambles (literally) with the most awesome rock and roll show. I was deaf for days the decibels were louder than Rush concert!Catch greg Nov 30/08 the sound academy (polson pier)#rd annual john lennon tribute. Goddo Rocks loudest!
That Oshawa gig was the one I referred to in my comment of nine months ago. It shredded my ears -- honestly the loudest show I have ever experienced in thirty years of concert-going.
I remember watching this on City TV and it was simocast on Q107 in Toronto.A case of beer a bag of.... a few buddies 300 watts of Marantz power and rock on.
Thanks so much for posting this. Goddo was the first live concert in 1980. I was 15, and was never the same after. Thanks so much to Greg, Gino and Doug.
Cream, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Budgie, Emerson,Lake,&Palmer, Rush, M.Rush( Frank Marino ) Robin Trower, ZZ Top, Goddo!!!....not a lot of great trios in the history of rock, let alone Power Trios. Slowly addictive, guitar driven, adrenaline producing, blues & 50's Rock n'Roll-based, on-the-verge-of-Heavy Metal-Hard Rock: "The Heavy Metal Power Chord"...... Goddo!!!!
Goddo remains as one of my all time favorite Canadian bands - always will. First saw them in the late 70s at the Gasworks, Picadilly Tube, Toronto - they were awesome!
This is the only band that ever was!!! I was at the show too. Absolutely fantastic. Even though Gino is in such bad shape we still love him! What a great son he has, not stealing the show or trying - as easy as it would have been - to upstage his dad Gino.
It was a great show on Friday at Healey's and I bought my own copy of the simulcast. At the show I admitted to someone that I was sort of a groupie being that I'd seen them about 20 times in my life, the well preserved lady countered that she had seen them 120 times. The next day while attending church my thoughts were comforted with the reality that although I'm attempting to see God and never have, I *know* I can always see GODDO.
Someone get Gino out of the can! Drag him away from the "stall tokers", time to go on stage!!! Every Canadian rockn'roller over 45 knows one escapable fact: This Band in a bar was the sonic equivalent of a 100,000 pound punch press on the shop floor of Stelco. This video doesn't come close to approximating the audible assault levels and cranium crunching intensity this band perpetuated on its followers. Like a diseased, rampaging moose that couldn't be terminated. P.S. Oh Carol, Kiss my Whip!
Greg looks a bit like Tony Montana in Scarface, don't you think? This band played the loudest show I have ever heard in thirty years of concert going! Cock on!
Great band...I saw Greg Godovitz interviewed in `79 on a TV show called Radioactive hosted by a guy named Buster Palmer..great show..super funny...
